On don't build pity: Do note in terms of trying to get a specific 5-star, 1 wish is worth more than 1 pity in terms of increasing your chance of pulling a 5-star. Especially for those looking to vertically invest, don't wish without a plan.

@@victorraymond3420 It really is a calculated risk. You have 35% chance of getting a 5 star before soft pity, and a 0,6% chance of getting one in any given wish before 74 pity. Sometimes it's absolutely worth build some pity going for a 4 star you need.

my personal rule is build pity if i'm on 50/50, wouldn't mind getting the 5*, and only until i get to 50-60 pity. however, i'm ok doing this bcs my 5*s always come the same way: failing 50/50 then getting the guaranteed in the next 20-30 pulls. each person's experience would be different though.

The Encounter points is a good change to the daily commission system. My only nitpick is that when you do eventually run out of things to collect and quests to do (as is normally the case for completionists like myself), it's back to doing the four commissions for the rest of the version. I kind of wish they included resin activities in the encounter point system to make the change feel more impactful.

If your a completions doesn't that leave the game dry? Like you have nothing to do but commissions and resin. But what I don't understand is why you guys are trying to make it go from that to just resin. Like you already have nothing to do, wouldn't be okay enough to just do the commissions.

I mean, the counterpoint is that if you do run out of all that, there's nothing else to do but the daily resin spending that's very very quick anyhow, so it matters less. Don't get me wrong though I still wish spending resin, even if limited to each type of resin spending only works once per day, would accumulate points.

Even if you 100% everything, there will always be events and you could get points from events that update daily.

@@miaace26 some events only unlock a new challenge to complete every OTHER day, and there's often a distinct gap between one event unlocking it's last challenge and another event starting. For updates that really just add events, easily half the days could lack potential encounter points. and one challenge may not equate to 4 commissions.

I actually thought before that it replaced the original one but it turns out that they merged it and now it's the best thing because finally I have the motivation to get it done while doing quests and exploring the world, things that I love doing already. So even if I use it all up, hey I can do the commisions too. XD

One thing to note about building pity, if you're on guaranteed I wouldn't suggest to build pity at all imo because it's very important to save that pity for your favorite character who's due for a rerun or a character that synergizes your favorites. Who knows you might get an early 5 star that is guaranteed and it may ruin your account (not all the time but it's dependent)

Hey brother I have little doubt, I've lost zongli 50/50 and at 75 pity and I didn't wish a single wish on current banner(nuvellete/hu tao), here is my actual doubt, can I get gurenteed venti in 15 wishes now that I hadn't wished on current banner. Will my pity carry over from zongli banner to venti banner. PLEASE CLEAR MY DOUBT

I didn't realize it was still called "building pity" if the goal is to get the 4 star characters 😮. I happen to like a lot of 4 star characters, so typically the goal is to get them + cons, not caring about pity at all. Like XQ is to me what Neuvillette is to others 😂

this is so weird to me, I always thought "building pity" was just that and not trying to get 4* characters, bc to me "building pity" is just spending primos for no reason other than spending them on banners, if you want a 4* character then you're just pulling for them, the pity increase is just a consequence. TIL a different meaning all that

Hard pity, or just Pity tbh is at 90 where no matter what on pull 90 you get a 5 star. your comment specifically says you have yet to experience early pity it so i thought you you meant that you have had to go to 90 every time and i was just gonna be sad for you. If you havent had to do 90 each time that's good. if by your original comment you mean that you havent ever gotten anything before 74 pulls you wouldnt call it pity in that case it's just early. Sorry for misunderstanding your initial comment

@@justcallmesiv it’s possible you’re new and don’t know the community memes but “early pity” is referring to being more likely to pull a 5 star in the first 10-20 pulls, as opposed to 30-50. Obviously this is completely unsubstantiated but this is how it’s being used in the video, and is frequently used in the broader Genshin community. A lot of creators purposely set up their pity so they pull the on banner character in the first 10 pull, which probably feeds into the notion that it’s actually a thing.

I think the commission system still isn't the best, I hate having to return to Kathryne and repeat her repetitive dialogue every time. I think HSR nailed it with their menu based crafting and purely menu based commissions with no dialogue. I also think it'd be nice for commissions currently in Genshin to also allow for killing bosses and regular mobs to a certain point counting toward the dailies.

As a counterpoint to this, I think a key defining feature of Genshin is that it is a game with a world, you have to actually go to places to do things. Many, many gacha games boil down to just a series of menus and autobattles to clear content. That is not a game, that is a spreadsheet. I attribute a lot of decisions in genshin to being deliberately different from other gacha to stand out in its field.

​​@@dominicjannazo7144this, i love hsr but it has heavily lost me on the gameplay and the daily loop just because auto battle and comissions are so braindead to do, while genshin still feels like a game i am playing daily hsr is not, its the cookie clicker i leave open to run while i play genshin, but i do agree that more things should qualify for the comission thing since all are limited resources (only so many chests, so many oculi, so many quests etc)

One thing that's useful for new players to know is about shield breaking. The damage that your attack does has no effect on how much shield damage it does. It's only about the amount of elemental application.

Can i add for your wise words? SO FAR, the conclusion in testing that i done some days, and lacks me others (after this comment i'll try for it)... Was Hydro Mage shield. Before 3.0, before Dendro, the way was purely Cryo, even though the weakness on rotation of Hydro is Electro. But then, they made Electro be a new Anemo/Geo. Abyss Mage Hydro Shield, suffers more damage from Dendro. (@crocworks is right, its the Elemental "Gauge/Unit" that counts, not the dmg, a Lvl1 character do the same has your Lv90 Raiden 9-9-9...) So i got 1 adorable Dendro vs 1 overlooked character. [I mean, comeon, before get nahida and after, is just Spawn of Traveler Dendro, where is Electro Traveler? Geo and Anemo are solid, ...i digress] Yaoyao, who can heal you and apply dendro so sometime more flexible... and ... the Overlooked Collei. Fact is: Collei was better stupid to smash HydroAbyssMage Shield. Yuguei couldnt do in 2 casts, needed 3. Collei is way quicker, her Boomerang, and the fact you can deliver Charged Shots at same time, and Burst if you are with the energy ready, are marvelous! Now the EVIL Tip, that will make people get angry: The Winner of Smashing Cryo Mage Shield is ... Ta-dah! AMBER (especially her Burst). No Bennet, No Xiangling, they are 10seconds+ against the 2 seconds of Ambers Burst. :3 She's the best applicator i could find from that 40 characters i have (most being T4 ok, i'm ignoring T5 because they are specific investment and not friendly to comment overall). Now good good, time to hunt Electro Abyss Mage Shields, and the Pyro one and test out my 4* Time trial of shield breaking. [ Need prove for myself, ingame actual testing ] BUT , in the case of the FATUI, they follow the 1.0 System. Hydro Fatui suffers from Electro Damage, not Dendro. (And appears Pyro on Electro Abyss Mages Shields worth more then the obvious Electro) ... But Electro_Fatui yes, 1.0, suffers heavy from Cryo Units. =Kaeya,Rosaria,Chongyun, will cover you majestically.

Seconded about Amber being a great shield breaker. Her burst deals 18 hits in 2 seconds, which translates to 6 Pyro applications of 1U gauge each after ICD blocks some Pyro application. Bennett needs 2 skills and a burst to match that (3 hits, each of which are 2U Pyro applications). Amber's burst may have a 12 second cooldown, but she still can fire off charge shots to maintain her application lead anyway. So she has crazy frontloaded Pyro application and can still sustain her own pyro application while waiting for the burst cooldown.

7:44 Finally someone mentioned this. I started playing genshin and I never really went out looking for guides and advice because I just wanted to play how I wanted and it was so hard to get my account in check and messed me up a little. Genshin is a little confusing at first and that makes it harder because you don't know what to do

@@ArcadeAce21 Ignore negativity. The game's difficulty depends on what you want to accomplish in the game. Some want to play casually with the focus on the overworld, and it's easy. Some enjoys character-building and want to test them, like in Abyss, and it is slightly more difficult that way (requires proper knowledge on the game's mechanics).

@@ArcadeAce21 it means most people play the game entitled. they want everything. this means ignoring reading or listening to anything which dampens their performance. even if you get information or pay attention you can still play how you want. i still used a team of diluc,fischl,barbara,QIQI till i got bored. people just keep making excuses.

So I do like the new commission system! I just find it weird they didn't make it so you could also make all 4 dailies the commissions that are tied to achievements. Especially with what you said about them catering to the casual players since it would make it easier for them to get those if they want to

The reason I find the new commission system annoying is because I keep forgetting to switch to my friendship team before claiming the rewards, and end up wasting companionship xp on characters who are already maxed.

But the benefit is you can explore using an exploration team and have a completely unleveled friendship team that you switch to and claim with when you get back to the adventurers' guild. That's the key, only claim the rewards when you get back to Katherine and get all 60 primos at once.

All wishes before soft pity have the same chance, 0,6% for standard + character banner and 0,7% for weapon banner. The reason why the misconception exists is because this means that there are actually slightly more 5 stars pulled at lower pity then there are close to soft pity. Since every wish decreases the number of 5 stars by 0,6%. So the first wish has 0,6% of the wishes getting the 5 star, but after that 99,4% of the wishes reaches wish 2. So it ends up like this: Wish 1: 0,6000% of total 5 stars Wish 2: 0,5964% of total 5 stars Wish 3: 0,5928% of total 5 stars ... Wish 70: 0,3937% of total 5 stars And so on. So you will have more people getting a 5 star at wish 1 to 10 then on 60 to 70. But if you look at the actual wishing chance per wish, its equal. Going from 69 to 70 is still 0,6% chance. Also you just have more people talking about how they got a 5 star at 1 pity then getting one at wish 68.

Um no, actually. Once you have everything done in game there's no way to earn daily commsions through the new system. Kinda sad that mohoyo doesn't really care about player loyalty even though they fully know there's players that's been around since launch. Case in point 👉 the new Klee event has a restaurant food deliver that references the " golden shadow" which is all the way back from the 1.1 food delivery event. So ya they definitely know we're here. They just don't care about us. Atlesst not nearly as much as new players anyway.

what would be easier and make all those myth less of an issue(the 5th specialy) is if the comunity acted less as a old market place. i mean every body are yelling opinnion often not even tested as fact "uuuh klee is the worst 5 star" or "qiqi is the worst character in the game it ruin my 50/50" or again "chest respawn after a week" lot of stupid shit. i always found my self to do lenghty research and testing becuz ppl prefer stoping at opinion instead of facts, that how unreliable the comunity is u need to doubt everything and everyone 80% of the time

The second advice hits so close to home. I always try to tell people to not give a generic advice of "more characters == good" because every account and every person is different. I have a ton of dpses for different kind of contenf, most of them are unable to clear 36 star the abyss due to me not being able to max invest into them, and now they're benched, so I just go for more cons for characters I play a lot/like a lot, and it enchanced my experience so much

My advice is usually: "If you have to ask, you probably want to stick to getting characters." Once you advance more into the game, you know better what you are missing on your account and know what constellations, weapons or just more characters you want.

I won my first 50/50 by pulling on cyno’s banner trying to get a single candace. It was my first ever 50/50 win since I started playing October launch year, so I honestly wasn’t mad 😂. It really is just “dont build pity on a 5 star you don’t care about”

The probability before obtaining a 5-star before soft pity is constant so from 0-73 has that same base probability. Your chances of getting a 5-star only increase once you hit soft pity. I tried explaining it in a video, I talk about statistics stuff.

@@Philospilos The funny thing is, we were both wrong. I just checked again what the actual soft pities are again and it’s actually 74. It’s actually a misconception to think that it’s 75. To be exact, the soft pities are 74 for the limited-time character and standard banner and 63 for the weapon banner.

​@@CountSacke no one is wrong apart from the guy in this video. soft pity starts when you reach 75 pulls so the 76 pull has greatly higher chance to be a 5*. there is even a chart out there someone made 3 years ago in which he did billions of simulated wishes and it tells you pretty accurate percentages for every wish.

​@@Philospilos I have seen Genshin Wishes data (which is actually based on real data from players) and analyzed it relatively recently. In fact, it's the video I mentioned in my first comment. Based on that data (and in theory), 77 is when most people tend to pull but 74 is when there's a significant jump in the number of people who pull 5-stars compared to the previous pity (73). This implies an increase in the probability of pulling a 5-star thereby meaning soft pity is at 74. Theoretically, the probability of pulling a 5-star increases by 6% starting at 74. This means: 73 has a 0.6% chance 74 is 6.6% 75 is 12.6% ... 89 is 96.6% and 90 is 102.6% but hard-capped to 100%. (This explains why 90 is hard pity) I'm not sure what sort of misconception I'm having unless soft pity isn't defined as I think it is: the point where people are more likely to start getting 5-stars. I would think a sudden increase to the probability of pulling a 5-star would count as that point which is at 74.

For me, I happened to experience getting a character in early pity twice. First it was Venti at pity 3 on 2.6 and then on Hu Tao's C1 at pity 20. In other words, it's possible, but very unlikely.

For me on limited wish banner: Eula at 2 pity, Keqing at 17, Lyney at 7 and on standard banner Jean at 5 pity (I play since patch 3.6 btw)

What about my experience? Most of my 5*s came at early pity... I swear my account is blessed with eternal Beginner's Luck. My wish history looks something like this: 3.6 Keqing - 48, Nahida - 2 (Guarantee) 3.7 Qiqi- 77, Kazuha - 40 (Guarantee) 3.8 Wanderer - 77, Kokomi - 4 (won both 5050's) Diluc - 50 4.0 Lyney - 78 (Guarantee), Tighnari - 36 Tartaglia - 59 Weapon banner Aqua simulacra - 64 (it is the one i wanted, too! due to having Scion for lyney already and wanting Aqua for Tartag) 4.1 Neuvilette - 45 Standard banner Qiqi - 64, Wolfs Gravestone - 36, Skyward Pride - 77 I am now saving up again for Venti, then Cyno, then Nilou.😁

For #3, as of 4.0, we now get (at least) one character for each element, including Anemo (besides the Traveler). You can always build the starter squad.

NEW COMISSION SYSTEM IS SO GOOD!!! it actually makes me want to play the game, before i would just use my resin do my dailies and log off, only do archon quests when a new one's coming out. but holy shit my fontaine map is like 80% explored because of the new comission system, it's the "oh alright let me do this quest to do my dailies and log off" and then get distracted by the nearby chests and puzzles. so good, also finishing quests with my main team and just claiming them with friendship team sounds way better, no more lvl 20 dori fighting lvl 90 enemies lmao

Thank you for having such a good take on new commissions and publishing it, there's a certain youtuber with a really terrible video out there and a large part of the community just misunderstands the purpose of these changes. Also, as someone in the very endgame and everything 100%, the change is massive because of the way you get your commissions by just playing events and that lets you skip the annoying commissions basically entirely.

as an endgame player it doesn’t rid you entirely of commissions, especially in events where you only unlock one stage per day. and stuff like chests and world exploration eventually runs out. plus there can be weeks where you finish all the events and quests so yeah lol. the encounter points still are pretty helpful, but they don’t always get rid of doing regular commissions

@@seagl4ss main thing is you never have to do the quest commissions, you can just do the day's event challenge and then choose the 2 fastest commissions. Also today the fishblasting event gave 4 points because of the quest.

the new commission change is amazing for me, i haven't completed the mainline story yet. i used to just logon and do my daily stuff then logout, however now i'm actually progressing the story instead of spending time doing commissions and it feels great

I've not seen whatever video you mean, but there's nothing inherintly wrong with disliking the new system. I'm glad it's good for the people it affects, but it has been a meaningless addition for many others who were equally anticipating a solution to a very boring system. I'm NOT saying the new system should be removed. Anyone who says that is being petty and selfish. But I am dissapointed that they didn't expand the new system to be more inclusive. They could have expanded the encounter points to include more activities.

About #4 omg yes. The most important "skill" in this game is knowledge. Once you have the knowledge and know what is good and how it's good, the game becomes a breeze (for the most part).There's nothing in the game that really tests your knowledge beyond more basic stuff. But before learning all of that, it can be quite a struggle to "get good."

The only complex thing that you don't have direct access to is ICD because while some skill said there's interval, many others stuff doesn't say. Other than that, there's no problem that couldn't be accomplished by simply reading. Although, I do not recall if the game ever specifically said that the percentage in Skill Attribute scale with your Atk, that could be a problem for people who aren't aware. Most gamers have a instinctive understanding and some people are curious so they test but there's still quite a fair bit who don't understand the scaling and stuff.

Congrats on the upgrade from the kitchen chair! I spent my first half-year of genshin looking up NO guides/YT videos/etc., didn't read any talent descriptions, e.g. wouldn't know if a character scaled on HP vs attack, so the game felt harder. Early on I asked co-op players if I should level up my xiangling, bennet, or qiqi, and was told qiqi. So I use qiqi to this day lol. Go figure!

The thing with Meta, is Spiral Abyss. A Masochist thing on Genshin. Outside this, there is some kinda hard challenges, yes. (Its a problem for me to deal with Copellia for Ascend Lynette for example) ... But on this side, there is Co-Op to help, where Coop can be broken, because are 2 people hitting same target, and sometimes some characters combinations you couldnt do before. ... [ Also some units shine on coop while others not. Diona shines in COOP for example ] YES, they are not wrong, OVERALL, Qiqi if you have her (Is 5Star), is overall a very good investment because on Open-World content, and bosses she'll Cover your BIG TIME to keep you alive, and have a smooth output of Physical Damage (The kind that works best against Human Enemies - Fatui, Treasure Hoarders, Eremites, so on... ) - maybe sometimes she'll eat you time to finish, but surely is less frustranting then be teleported away from the challenge and have to return to try again. But when you're not sure, a new boss, something, you go first to learn the boss with Qiqi, you're save. Barbara is better against Pyro enemies, where you KNOW they will not use Nor electro nor cryo against you - and this validates Qiqi first. Noelle Second, of course. Dragonspine exploration for example, is early game. You cant take Barbara there, ...you take Noelle. Or the early gacha gave you Qiqi, (like with me, Noelle Banner i gained Qiqi) then ...my case and those people was the "SPOILED dragonspine exploration". ... After you leveled up Qiqi (80+, talents 6-6-6), you're good, can invest on Xiangling and others...no problem. Love my Xiang, Qiqi, Bennet, etc.. i love them all, is just ... a practical viewpoint to avoid frustration. (Because Bennet in a challenge where you cant Energy Recharge well, you're DEAD. And against Dendro enemies, you're pretty messed up too.)

I have a C3 Qiqi that can solo most bosses (outside of one shot mechanics that need some specific reaction to pass). Some characters got way better with changes in the game like New relic sets or Dendro. The thing is, people put way too much value in 36 stars Abyss while that is just a small fraction of Genshin's gameplay. I just don't sweat about it anymore and pull characters that I like or introduce some interesting new comp/mechanic.

Today i got my first limited 5* constellation, now my Neuvillette is C1R1. For a long time i've followed the whole "Constellations are bad, weapon banner is skam, get new characters and dont spend on the game", but even as a welkin only player i found myself with a lot of wishes banked (i used 230+ wishes for C1 Neuv and 60ish for R1 and i still have enough to guarantee Furina if she was out right now). I fully agree that Cons and weapons are usually not necessary and that new characters will often be more fun, but i have pretty much every character i could ever want in the game rn (seriously, except for mabye Shenhe to improve my below average Ayaka teams, i am not looking for any rerun right now) and sitting on 350+ wishes when i know i like Neuvillette a lot and i want to maximize it's teams is kinda silly. It took me a while to make this decision, probably even too much (looking back there are a couple of 5* that i'd refund if i could xD) but i sincerely think players that play consistently will find themselves in this situation eventually.

Agreed. So i stopped pulling for cons (the powerful the character becomes it makes game easy and i wont give much fun in long term) so i rather test my luck on weapon banner so that I can still feel the thrill of loosing or winning 50/50

I actually haven't even logged into my Genshin account for like 6 months, not since they put the consecrated beasts in abyss, it was my breaking point after playing since launch. I thought I had good characters and good artifacts but I still struggled for 36*, when I asked what I was doing wrong people would tell me to git gud. Nah, it's not worth my sanity to learn pixel perfect dodge and attack patterns, hardcore players really don't see how hard the game is in a casual perspective, I settled for 34*. went most of my accounts life not spending any money and have most 4-star at c5, spent some money ($100) trying to get Itto and didn't (got redhorn though and slapped it on my op Noelle) and it really didn't make the game better for me, that's when I realized I was over it. glad to see people still having fun with it but the insane dedication and time you have to spend to be truly good was beyond me. Still think they need to buff Jean.

I told a friend that 20-30 wishes thing for a copy of a 4-star (currently Diona) JUST YESTERDAY. If we get excited to spend the wishes, even if we don't "spoil" the pity, we're also throwing each individual wish's chance for a 5-star away., because even if it'r rare, I'm sure everyone has hit a 5-star very early before. It does happen a lot, we're just biased to think it doesn't.

About #5... Nahida is obviously the best character in the game. This opinion has nothing to do with the fact that she's my phone's wallpaper, no. But for real now, the quote "Meta is temporary, style is eternal" is still 100% true. I've seen people dealing a ton of dps with Kaeya, so yeah... if you like a character enough, you can make them work.

Sharing anecdote, my brother ACTUALLY struggles with the game. It's not that easy. Low artifact and stats for someone that doesn't nerd about the game. There's also a tipping point in genshin before you farm artifact where monsters are both hard hitting and you also hit like a wet noodle.

about whales: I've seen a few whales, and one that most stuck to me, as in, it seemed they where enjoying the game as much as they could, where this guy that would have their favorite characters on the teapot and each character had a special spot for them on the teapot. It also came to mind that that whale, while they loved each and every single one of their 5*, they mained qiqi and where having a blast at it.

Yes, i lost faith in many youtubers (after i arguably gain more knowledge on the game) and even was skeptical at Jello initially, but he is willing to admit when he makes an error so it's great, and he also dares to make videos about touchy but important subjects on the game. One of, or possibly the most, Genshin youtuber whose videos i am looking forward to. Also i almost never join livestreams of other youtubers (probably because they do it on Twitch, and i don't use Twitch), and i love to join his livestream if i ever notice one being live.

Very glad you brought up the commission thing. This guy started at 2.6 and it's a bit of a struggle to want to pursue quests, when commissions take so little time for 60 primos, especially if a quest takes 20-30 minutes for only 30-40 primos among the rewards.

The percentages are starting at about a bit more then 1% and then the change goes down every time till pull 74 then it goes 20% and then it sinks again until hard pity at pull 91

Thank you for #4! Starting this game, it was SO difficult and confusing, even with an experienced friend who was helping me (and carrying me through a lot of early game content). If I hadn't been able to watch youtube videos and ask my friends questions, I wouldn't have been able to build characters who were remotely usable. It was literally months before I finally bothered to sort of find out what Elemental Mastery was and why it sometimes is important and sometimes is meaningless. I think most players aren't thinking about it, but they still rely on youtubers/streamers/social media Genshin players to tell them how to use new characters. I know I do. I don't want to have to try and make spreadsheets to figure out what artifact builds will give me the most damage, or what team compositions, or what the optimal rotations are for those team compositions. I'm going to watch some youtube videos by people who've already done the math and the playtesting, and let them tell me how to win. People tend to overestimate how much of their success is based on their own skill/the game being easy, and how much of it is based on them relying on other people's legwork.

I def agree with point 5 and to add to it like, If you love a character, build them. Not just cus being happy and having FUN is important for a game. But also because, if you're having fun and you love a character you'll be creative with them and their teams. If you're being creative, you'll find a way to build them that works for you. No one should have to avoid a character they love because the internet said they weren't good.

For those who think about sniping a specific 4 star, i had to get 6 copies of xq( he was already c6) and 2 copies of diona and a neuvilette and qiqi just to get 1 copy of fischl ( she was the last 1.x 4 star without c6 and 2 copies were from events and 1 from shop)

I do think everyone should build an anemo at least well enough to be a VV bot. I'm really glad they added Lynette as a F2P anemo alternative to anemo MC. Last year when I started I switched MC over to dendro to use on my dendro teams, but then I was left without any anemos on my account. I tried wishing for Heizou early on but whiffed, and so it was literally like 3-4 months before I had any anemo characters on my account at all. Anemo is also very useful for overworld puzzles early on, and having to switch back to anemo MC all the time just to do them was a huge pain. Also regarding the game being "easy" I would agree that I and anyone watching this channel are way more hardcore than the average genshin player. But when I mean when I say the game is "easy" is that it's more of a knowledge check and resin check than a mechanical skill check. The s in this game are incredibly generous compared to games like Monster Hunter. Same with animation commitment, positioning, optimal combos, etc. The game is just very easy to actually play on a mechanical level. And the reason I feel the need to say the game is easy is because there are a lot of meta focused players who are VERY militant and get lost in the sauce of which character sheets 5% better than another. They say "why use character X when character Y is just better?" And the answer is because it doesn't actually matter. I enjoy talking about meta and understanding meta because it's fun for me, but a lot of people get WAY too sweaty and serious about efficiency and optimality in this baby game made for a casual audience.

My opinion considering the last point is thet people are too easily jump on the "this is mid" wagon, like, they call a bunch of character mid who are actually are 6-7-8 out of 10 just because they are weaker then the strongest charatcer in the element or in the game. The sclae enitrly off.

in the first one with building pity i think "the good way" is if you want a future character, so you're building pity, but you don't really mind if you get the current limited 5 star because you kinda like it and it's not a loss. But when you're building pity on a character that you don't like or maybe you already have it and you don't want constellations on it, it's a loss. I hope that makes sense xD

If you waste your guarantee on the character you don't mind getting in a way that you won't be able to guarantee the future character you really wanted by the time the banner of said future character is nearing its end, then it'll also be the bad way of building pity. Every single time I've ever built pity not only was I ok with getting the 5 star from that banner but I was on 50/50, I really wanted the 4 stars from that banner, and I also knew that I'd still have 180 wishes (more if I wanted cons) for the banner of the future character I really wanted (which meant, I could 100% guarantee the character I really wanted or even their cons if I wanted them).

The difficulty discussion deserves a little more nuance, because a 1-dimensional scale from "easy" to "hard" is never the full picture. Genshin has an overwhelming amount of mechanical complexity, and turning every one of those systems to your advantage is an incredibly difficult balance. But mastering every one of those systems is not the same as playing the game. Genshin allows you to explore every corner of the world and clear nearly every quest and challenge without understanding the combat, which is why so many players don't gain enough understanding to make the most of the tools they have. That very low difficulty floor is what is meant by "genshin is easy", and the floor goes even lower when you include the ability to call in meta players to co-op clear bosses, fontaine's local legend minibosses, or a lot of the other stuff a combat-clueless player might struggle with. The hardest part of abyss being the timer is also a whole other conversation on artificial difficulty. The very idea of using 36* abyss as your measurement for the game shows, to use your own words, you are a lot more hardcore in this aspect than you think.

As as building pity goes: It is a term people shouldn't be using most of the time. The more accurate term is "Risking Pity". So yeah, you can choose to risk your pity for Xingqiu or Fischl, and not mind if you wind up Hu Tao. But until after the fact, you haven't built pity. Consider it a consolation prize, rather than something you are actually after. Soft pity: it only starts at 74 for the five stars on standard and featured character banners. For the weapon banner, it starts at 65. For four stars, it starts at 8. On the weapon banner: a five star weapon can also breathe a lot of life into a four star. It can be the bit of a bump they need to cross that enjoyment threshold so that you'll start playing them. The weapon that probably has the biggest impact in this way I'd say is the Redhorn Stonethresher, which adds a lot of value for both Noelle and Xinyan. On whales, it is a very broad term. Just getting every character and their weapon... that takes whaling. Spend that amount on just a few characters, perhaps the "weaker" ones, and again, still a whale. And then there are giga-whales. So, is whaling fun? Well, that is a personal thing. As for the new commission thing, it is a good thing, even for those of us who are caught up. But I don't use it because it leaves the commissions in my quest log and that annoys me. Good idea, but needs a little bit more polish on its implementation, so I can wipe the unneeded ones from my quest journal and be all clean again. Characters are better or worse than others. That's just reality. I have mained Eula for a long time. She was and is 100% viable. She's also hampered because of the issues related to physical damage, and this makes her overall a lot less effective than other characters. You constantly have to compensate for those issues. Now I main Dehya as well. She's not nearly as bad as many people think she is (though that's in large part because they're Dehya'ing wrong), but her kit definitely has a variety of issues, which includes low damage numbers among others. This, again, is just reality. This type of thing doesn't make the characters unplayable, or something that should be avoided. It's a game, something we do for fun. It's fine to enjoy a weaker character. But people do need to reach a level of maturity where they can see issues with something they like, yet continue to like it anyway. So it isn't a myth that X is better than Y. What does need to die is the idea that if X is not the best, then it is bad and should not be used. That's just stupid.

Love your channel. Watch every one of your videos that are under 30 minutes - they have been extremely helpful for me. I generally pull the characters that I like the aesthetic design of. As far as how I use them - Raiden, Nahida, Zhongli, Yae Miko, and Kazuha, I use almost exclusively for their elemental skill. I have the fabulous five four star characters, all at C6 - rarely use them. My main DPS come from Yanfei - not anyone’s choice, but it works for me. I am in the over 65 club (much older actually). Eye/hand coordination sucks, and the casters are the easiest for me to use. No need to aim, no need for close quarter combat, just jump around randomly and spam the hit button. The other characters I use for DPS are Mona (C4), Kokomi, and Yae Miko (all casters). Concerning pity, I have got pity after 10 pulls, 28 pulls, and 46 - I rarely lose the 50/50 (hope my luck doesn’t run out), and usually get Mona when I lose.

I LOVE the new commission system. My time is limited. I always struggled to keep up with the story and the events because I always prioritized the commissions (I'm f2P). Now, I can just play the game, or even just explore and discover, and I will get credit for the commissions. SO GRATEFUL!! This makes doing the battle pass easier too, even if you do not pay for the extra rewards. Plus, if you want to do the commissions still, you can. This is a win/win for everyone.

Here's how my all 50/50 went first win on ayaka,2end loss on kuzuha,3rnd loss on nahida got her at 70 after i got her again at 40 pity,4th loss on yea miko and got her around 80 pity ,5th loss on mispliter and got it at 40 pity,6th loss on neuvillette and now I'm broke

THe new commission system is dope, I can finally progress in the story of the game. Before I was just logging, do the commission cause I was already behind so everyday is important, and use my resin, then I need to log out already, I was HARD STUCK in Liyue because of that, now I am already at the end of Inazuma, I just play the game, I love it

This was really cool to watch! I started out only buying the battle pass, but decided to splurge to get my favorite character, Ayaka, who just happened to be on banner for my birthday ❤ I only recently learned about the daily collection welkin, so I think I'll start getting that too. I just started playing in August but I am a very experienced gamer so it was pretty easy to jump in on a base level. I'll never forget the first time the game was too hard... I couldn't defeat the ruin hunter outside wangshu inn during the ghost quest, that's when my daughter showed me how the artifacts work and I was like ohhhhh this game has so much more depth than I thought! I relied heavily on hyperbloom with Barbara as my main because she was my *only* hydro character until some lucky Furina and Ayato pulls. But now that I have Ayaka I'm actually studying synergy and best stats per character and started spreading a little too thin lol. Having a good freeze team is my goal now, since I already have a reliable hyperbloom team that can handle anything Ayaka's lower level team can't 😊

To answer your question of "does early pity exist?" The answer is no, every standard/character wish has a 0.6% chance of being a 5* (prior to soft pity), but at the same time, due to the way statistics work, you are more likely to get a 5* on your first wish than you are on your 73rd. The odds are the same for each individual wish but in order to get to the 73rd wish, you have to fail drawing a 5* 72 times. This means if you look at the frequency charts for every 5* anyone has ever drawn on the character banner, you will see 0.6% of them are on wish 1, and .39% of them are on wish 73. If you think about it, this makes sense: the pull with the absolute best odds is the 90th pull - it's guaranteed - but you'll virtually never see it because it's so unlikely to make it there in the first place. Pre-soft pity wishes are the same concept. This concept still holds true for wishes 74 and up, but the rate jumps up so high for each wish early into soft pity that it overwhelms the chances of drawing one previously up until wish 77, which is the most frequent wish to draw a 5* - 10.53% of all 5* draws are on wish 77. After that, your odds of reaching that pity fall faster than your odds grow *by* reaching that pity. This same idea holds true for weapon banner wishes, but the numbers are different due to the different rates. Weapon banner has a 0.7% chance per pre-soft pity wish, and soft pity starts at 63. This means your 62nd wish has about a 0.48% chance as opposed to the 0.7% on your first wish. And the single most frequent wish to get a 5* on is wish 66. Also due to the way the rates are actually determined, it's impossible to hit 80 pulls on the weapon banner; you are guaranteed a weapon on or before pull 77. So no, early pity does not exist, but you will find that earlier wishes are more common to get 5* than later ones up until pity.

That intro... haha! It hits so hard. It's 2023, and literally all the answers to almost any question you ever had are online, and yet... misinformation reigns. Re the question about early pity - I cannot think of a statistical formula that would prove early pity (below 30 wishes). However, what is statistically true is that the limited 5* is likely to drop in your 8th 10-pull, in fact around wish 73-77 to be more precise. There are some great videos on this point. So, to bolster your point about "soft" pity, you're right: building pity past 70 is really dicey if you're trying to avoid the featured 5*.

On the build pity one, I saved for neuvillette and pulled him, after pulling for him, I am now using any wish possible on the Hu Tao banner as I want xingque and Fischl cons, if I get her, I won't mind that much, but if I lose the 50/50 and get a standard banner character that I want, then all good

Loved the recommendations. With the last myth I might say: play around with the teams, I have few teams that I can do commissions in under 10 minutes (counting loading into the games, the teleportation and redeeming the primogems all in)... but it's fun to find new combos... As an AR60 with 100% map explored (and I maxed out Fontaine reputation), started playing in the 1.3 version... I still cannot figure out the artifacts. I might not do much of damage, but if a commission can be done in less than 2 minutes, I'm happy. If a boss can be defeated in under 3-4 minutes I'm happy. I don't usually kill bosses or do domains. Kinda forget or kinda "i'm tired" let's do something else. Thanks a lot for the video.

With the new commission system I've been able to catch up on all kinds of quests archon quests, story quests, world quests and before this I just wasn't doing the sumeru archon quests and now im on act 3 and before i hadn't started act 1 and the new commission system just helped me do it.

Why would people be complaining about the new commission system? It changes nothing for you if you don't have a backlog, it doesn't reward or punish you. I happen to have a backlog cause I hate desert exploration in any game, but I'm trying to scrounge primos for Furina so the timing just kind of worked out.

For the building pity part, I did it twice and learned a pretty big lesson. During Yelans banner i got her and wanted to build early pity for zhonglis 50/50. fourty pulls in...and i got C1 yelan which i did not plan to get. I lost my second 50/50 for zhongli hence, which arguably wouldnt happen if i didnt pull anything after getting c0 yelan; i didnt need any of the four-stars during her banner in the first place. However, this time for Hu Tao's banner, i'm not on my 50/50 and am waiting for raiden shogun. But I reallly needed a c4-5 xingqiu so i put in 40 pulls and got xingqiu for each of those 10-pulls. very worth it when you do need the 4-stars

New commision system is great. Big QoL improvement for players who don't have done 100% of game. Before I was doing quests, exploring, etc and then - wait wait, I must jump to comissions to not miss free daily primogems. And now ... phew, I can have fun and play how I want and have daily comissions done meanwhile.

I haven't needed to do a single commission since the update because I'm trying to find every chest in the game - i NEED Venti, and i just won two 50/50s in a row (mostly against my will, XINGQIU), so the chances of getting him first try are infinitesimal

For me when it came to wishing. I knew I had enough primo gems to try and attempt Hu Tao as I wanted her, but along side everything I had to left to do combined with the events and future events in 4.2. I would be able to have enough to guarantee Furina and still save pulls for characters I want in the future ‘still aiming for Kazuha as I missed his rerun’ I was surprisingly lucky to get Hu Tao at two 10 pulls and that has not only allowed me to keep enough primogems to guarantee her, I’ll have enough to guarantee another character around the end of 4.2 assuming I’m persistently on. Plus, now having Hu Tao, it gives me something to do whilst waiting for 4.2.

The cheapest way to gain more power for your account is still to build constellations for your characters and similarly refinements for your weapons. Building new weapons and new characters are very expensive although it may arguably be more fun.

I totally agree that The Encounter Point system is great. I myself on my main account, am pretty up to date on exploring and quests. So there I do Daily Commissions. But on my secondary account, I like that I can just enjoy some questing or exploring, and do Daily's that way. I also think Encounter points can be nice for streamers too. Since if they for example want to stream doing a certain quest, they don't necessarily have to remember to do commissions before or after. They can just get right into said quest or event and focus on that. So I agree the The Encounter Points system is good, since it can give ppl freedom in how to play, without having to miss out.😊

Tips about the commissions things when doing events 1. Did you know the commission point count when YOU PICK THE REWARD from the event, not when completing the minigame. So when your daily commission already finished and still have time to play the event minigame, you can pick the reward for tommorow daily commission point 2. The quest to unlock the minigame is still a quest, it gives daily commission points too. My first mistake was unlocking the minigame right away after finishing the event story quest, just one event story quest already make the commission points full. The minigame unlock quest can be safe for tommorow since the event story and minigame continuation unlocks every 2 days This is what I learn from the Waterborne Poetry event, the future event may have some differences in the total of rewards, but that's the gist of it, like if you're in the mood of doing exploration and event but that will cap the daily points, you can save the event daily point for later by not picking its rewards. Oh, by the way, don't be too afraid of capping the daily points that you prevent yourself from completing story quest or exploration, new events will always come, so there's always an alternative way to do commissions, but I personally will do the exploration when it's nearing the end of the patch, when the game doesn't have many events to do or the events is just double talent books/ley lines

The commission system update is the reason I've actually caught up to all the hangouts. It's not perfect because I think you should get points for spending resin, but I can really respect it from a game design perspective.

A tip for those who still find the game difficult or still don't quite understand how the combat system works, try building national team comps and it's variants. Try all the possible mix and matches that your characters in that specific area and try to understand elemental reactions and character kits from there. I feel that most non-dendro/freeze based teams will use mechanics that can be learnt through understanding national teams. Character building also becomes easier when you are more familiar with what a character can bring into a team, because you'll start to notice that there are several artifacts that are really popular for certain types of characters.

I'd like it if the commissions prioritized quests that still had achievements left to do, even if it's just one per day. There's nothing worse than getting the same generic quests over and over when some achievements require a minimum of doing the same specific quest 5 times. It can literally take months just to finish the quest chain.

So far, in fontaine, I've been able to get Lyney + Aqua and C1 Neuvillette. I myself admit I was VERY lucky on not loosing any of those 50/50s. Fontaine, with all the events and map exploration, has given a fairly good amount of primogems, despite what everyone is saying.

I like this new commission system xd I'll only use it very rarely cause i like doing comms it's a nice routine for me, it doens't rly feel like a chore to me at all so i wouldn't care much BUT (i'm hoping to make sense here cause i looked too deep into this stuff) thing is with the current commission rng you have to go through a list of commissions first before you get them again. Meaning if you finish all of them once except for one (that you skip) it will appear almost every day until you finish it. so you can sort of reroll the right version of a commission you need for an achievement if that makes sense.. I would usually just head to my brother's world to complete one of his comms everytime that happened to me. Now you can skip them without coop which is great. Just hoping i'll get the comms i need to skip on days where there's an event cause i alr finished all the new content lmao

the Chinese community did a research on the pity percentages by actual pulls back in the day, I think you can see the results in some old videos from Mattjestic from years ago, there is a different percentage while building the pity, the most safe one is pulling from 30 to 50 (the smallest chance in the whole road) and from 50 to 60 is the next one with a bit more percentage than that for some odd reason, 0 to 30 has a bigger chance (specially on the first 10) to have an early 5*, so it was common for Chinese community to do between 20 to 30 single pulls after getting a 5*, and it worked for some time, the usual thing is that you could get a 5* before your second 4* on that build up so, the best known advice, always feel safe to pull between 30 to 50, 50 to 60 is a gamble but it's still possible to be a safe pull to an extent, and it doesn't matter what, never pull after 60, not even single pulls, if you don't want to get a 5* on that banner, the 5* pull percentage starts to build up per pull right after 50 (you can still read some sad stories of build ups from 50 to 60)

the new encounter points system is hype for players like me. i love a games with systems that incentives long-term resources planning. that's why i enjoy genshins grind, and to replace repetitive commissions with an opportunity to ration quest completion and exploration over time and seemingly just play the game as it is intended at the same time is a hoyoverse masterstroke.

For the most part, i do think it's fine to wish on a banner if you're on 50/50 and dont mind the 4 stars/5 star. It's 50/50 so you aren't guaranteed the 5 star anyway, and if you lose you get to save for a guaranteed of your choosing, and you got some of the 4 stars in the process. Like with me, I want to save for Furina, but I'm on 50/50, so i rolled on Neuv's banner cause i'd also like to have him at some point, and i got him at 79 pity. Now i am absolutely saving for Furina since I'm not too interested in Wriothesley, and not only would i complete my archon collection again, but Furina would be a great support for Neuvilette.

The "building pity" problem, when you have expirience of an early 5* is that even if I need some cons for Fishl, for example, but not so sure about featured 5* characters, you afraid of even try to get this cons. Nonbeliving is not an option, it gets you without a warning. :D

What I like to do is to have a lot of variety. When I get a new character I get them to level 60, max the talents at that level, then pull out some weapon that is suitable for them and farm some usable artifacts. Then I make random teams out of all characters and see what happens. Sometimes it produces weird combinations that are actually good, sometimes it is painful. But for me it makes the game more interesting. Also I somehow do the commissions even with the new system, despite having a lot of stuff to do. I am probably weird, I find them enjoyable.

with the daily commisions, we haven't yet hit the lull in the update where it'll be practically useless for dedicated players. I love it right NOW, because I still have exploration and such to do, but in a week or so I'll either need to do it the old way or choose not to do them at all. there are plenty of days in each update where I really have nothing to do but complete commissions and use resin, meaning I can't benefit from the system at all. once we get to the updates without new archon/story quests or regions, it'll start out in that lull that would require old or no commission completion. it's great all the time for super casual players, has limited benefit for moderate players, and does basically nothing for hardcore completionist players, even though completing commissions used to be the same for everyone with no one having it better or worse. it benefits certain players much more than others, when they could have gone with something that benefits everyone pretty equally. it's not _bad_ per se, it just sucks that it's SOOO hit or miss when it wasn't before.

despite what most people say, for me "building pity" is great because honestly in my book any early 5* is always a win even if it's a character you don't really like. I usually pull on every banner for that reason (been playing since 1.0 and have most 5* like that, and no I'm not a whale I only spend on welking and bp (that's like a lil fish xd), never on crystals) and if there's an upcoming character I really want I pull on the previous banner only until 40-45. If you have a healthy mindset towards gacha knowing that it's just a game and if you don't get a character on the first try they will have a rerun anyways this method is honestly great (at least for me it is), my motto is "if you don't pull you won't get it, if you pull you might be lucky and get something in early pity". Maybe if you really love a character and want it so much or want cons this is not for you but if you generally like all charas anyways it's a fun lil pulling method, just remember to have a healthy mentality towards gacha games, that's the absolute most important thing honestly
