I love jelly gouache so much! 🥰 I sometimes love using them as jelly straight out of the cups, but when I travel I get a mini pallet, glob on some gouache, let it dry and use it as watercolor on the go with a water brush. You guys might enjoy them more if you let them dry out fully and then use reactivate them when you use them. I I personally love how gouache can be used similar to acrylic, very thick and gloopy to add texture, or it can be thinned out and used like watercolor. It is so Convenient for me as it is a medium that it can be reactivated when it dries, which allows me to make the gouache thinner by adding more water, or thicker using less to reactivate. But it was really fun to watch you guys use it again! 😊 As always, beautiful art work! Hope you’ll the gouache more as you use it, but if not its okay, this video was quite entertaining! 😂

I am so glad you guys kept your word and gave the Himi gouache another try. I am a beginner and I was gifted a 24 set, and I used them for the first time last week with a Skillshare tutorial and I really enjoyed using them. The brushes it came with were ok but the round one had an odd set of bristles so was nearly unusable. However, I still enjoyed using the paint and getting that flat matte quality to my first painting project. I look forward to becoming proficient with them. I love the Himi set. I think that for the price, it's a whole lot of paint, comes in a sturdy box, has a palette and brushes, so all in all I think it's a bargain, especially if, like me, you're a beginner. Thanks guys for the review. God bless you both and all those you love.

@Fabii17702 жыл бұрын
@@sunshine-b3m5o If they are fully dry you should try to reactivate them! All you need is a spray bottle and water (maybe a bit of isopropyl alcohol to prevent molding, which I haven’t had issues with but it depends on where you live). Use a spray bottle and spray them all, or pour in a bit of water in each cup. Let it sit for a bit and when they soften mix them up with a pallet knife or popsicle stick or something. And then just mix. You might want to start with less water and add more until you get the consistency you like! It should be too hard to activate, just may take some time to mix, but personally I find it relaxing and rewarding. The paint will be ready to use in no time!
@mjpete272 жыл бұрын
I had a tube of gouache and it dried up! I pealed the tube off and put it in a ziplock bag with distilled water and I got it to re-activate and painted with it! Just like watercolor wash can be revived even years after drying, drying does not make it permanent like that.

Hey there I am a professional artist that uses himi as my favorite medium- mostly because of the price I find if you use good paper and get it to the right consistency it works really well - I also enjoy using a LAYER Of GESSO down before this, making sure it is thin and then they work much better. I have the bigger pallet and in my opinion its worth it cause it comes with metallic and fluorescent colors that in my opinion have AMAZING pigmentation. Those two categories of paint really seem to show the overall quality of the paints in general- if those aren’t good the set isn’t worth it.

The Gouache rant really made me laugh but I must disagree that is doesn't take forever to dry on paper. :'D Tho I understand Adam here, when I got the HIMI Gouache I really disliked the consistency and how streaky the application was! So I let the paint dry out completely and now add water myself so I can get the consistency I want. It works well, but I think the best is still tube Gouache! You can apply as much as you need and thin it out if necessary. Also the consistency is far better than what you get in the jelly cups.
@maryjane892 жыл бұрын
So here's the thing about the jelly gouache... I have the same set as you, and even though I don't think I'll repurchase it, I have committed to using up all the paint. They're not as opaque as I would like, but I've found that using a tube of good quality mixing white makes a *huge* difference. I've also transferred (part of) them into a smaller airtight palette that I can travel with and doesn't take as much space on my desk.

I've yet to find another brand that has the amount of texture Paul rubens do in their cold press paper, though the hobbycraft own brand comes in a close second when it comes to texture. I love to use jelly gouache dried out. I hate the consistency of it freshly opened and dried all mine out because of that. Even dried the paint is still mega opaque when used in layers.
