I never drank, smoked, nor took drugs but use to try to help those who did and who felt the same emotions expressed in this song. After a good life I am now so down, depressed and even consider suicide continually. This song expresses a lot of how I feel now. I am totally broke, had a cancer operation a couple years ago and now dealing with a huge belly hernia as a result of my cancer operation and because of covid-19 my operation scheduled for a year ago was cancelled, now it has increased and I can't eat. I did a lot in the past, but now feel like a failure. I need prayers and I know there are a lot of people like me and like Jelly Roll expressed in this song.

I have a son that is a recovering addict. This song reached down to my soul and ripped it out! It was like listening to how my son has felt over the years of hurting himself and those that love him...he feels like he doesnt deserve that second chance at life and happiness....and I am Mom...trying to convince him that he does!! Very emotional everytime I hear this!

I have lived this. Took my son in and helped him rebuild his life. Tough love, real love and support. He is now two years clean and living on his own and flourishing. Never give up, but they carry their burden, but both of us have felt the same and the conversation never ends. Let them know your pain and struggles so they don't feel alone. Hope all the best for you and yours.

Jelly Roll is a rapper, who started to discover his voice in the last few years and this was his first singing only type of track. You're right he's a very soulful artist in all his music, he's been through a lot, from a trap house drug dealer to one of the best artists around atm, his vocals are always on point no matter if its mixed with rap. I'll suggest his Glitter track, or Fall in the Fall.
