Walking through life I’ve learned that pain is the common denominator between all of us. When I wrote ‘Smoking Section’ I was speaking to anyone out there going through the loss of a loved one. It’s hard when someone you love leaves, but love is so powerful that the memories and their spirit will never fade.

Just turned 60 last month, an age that looked so far away when we were kids, but comes far too quickly. At are age, we grew up with some incredible music that continues to play on. I’ve never cared for rap, mostly bc the lyrics are so violent and disrespectful. I only started listening to JR’s music last year and I’m blown away with the lyrics that ALL of us have felt or experienced in life. He’s genuine, and his history so real. The things he’s lived through and survived is a testament that it’s possible and everyone has ability to walk out of the flames. He’s an inspiration to the world 🩷

@Blessed This song was played because it WAS one of my husband's favorite songs. There was no one getting hi after his funeral. We had a celebration of love and life. My husband was sober for 8 months before he passed. In our state Marijuana is legal and if he had not indulging in a few smokes or edibles his last month would have been more painful than it was. His marijuana use was APPROVED by his doctor's. I don't appreciate you assuming things you don't know and saying the things you said. His pastor had just left our home about 2 hours before he passed. The pastor was with us constantly for the last 4 days of his life and saw him smoking and said nothing. He didn't condom my husband for pertaking of an approved medicine by his Dr's. He even talked about it with our family. So take your holy than thoug attitude somewhere else. I know he and I will be reunited in heaven.

Shortly after I turned 18 my brother Noah took his life because when he met my wife he felt like I would be safe with her. He used to tell me when we were kids that he planned on leaving this earth at a young age and he ended up leaving shortly after he turned 21 the last thing he told me was that he loved me and that he loved my wife and he couldn’t wait to see what our daughter looks like. That was 2 days before our sister called me to tell me that he was found hanging in his closet out in California. Every time I listen to this song I start crying both sad and happy tears because I miss him but at the same time this song gives me the confidence that heaven does have a smoking section and I will see him again one day. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful voice with this world jelly I cannot express my gratitude enough for what your music has done for me

Jelly Roll, This song really hits home... my father knew he was dying, but my sister and I never thought that it would come the day that it did... We said we were going to come up and see him and take him out for a cigarette, he had not had one for some time! He was dying of heart disease among other problems. We went to take him out and the doctor said he could not go...Of course I went off saying he should be able to do what he wants with what time he has left!! It was about 20 minutes after that, he went into a coughing spell, let out a scream, and took his last breath...:( As for this song, I know I will see him again, and hope there is a smoking section so we can take him out for a cigarette just like we promised!!! You bring out feelings in people Jelly Roll with your lyrics to all of your songs. This is one that makes me smile instead of cry about my father...Thank you so much for all you do for people. "You the man Jelly, You the man!!"

Jelly your music has helped me so much this year with all the pain I have felt and still feel today! I lost my mom Feb. 2021 and my mother in-law Aug. 2021 just 4 days after my mom's birthday. I will be at your concert Dec. 3rd 2021. Hope I get a chance to meet a legend that has helped me get through one of the toughest years in my life and believe me my life hasn't been easy. Don't stop doing what you do!!

I know Jelly isn't the first rapper to mix rapping and singing, being virtually equally incredible at both, but his melodic-style, even country-esqe (because of the TN accent) singing just keeps getting better and better by the year. I know he would likely consider himself a rapper first, but I am 100% confident he could pull off an epic rock album. Read the comments for EF U with Tech N9ne; people who had never heard of him and were there for Tech were blown away by his vocals (the rapping, too, but namely the shear soulfulness).

@Jelly Roll lol I would love to see you in concert. You are amazing, the lyrics, your voice, I enjoy listening to you so much. I'm 62 yrs old I haven't been to a concert since Eric Clapton. I'm sure your concerts are as amazing as you are. Jelly I feel like you looked into my soul and spoke the words I didn't know how to say! You have gave me hope. Something I haven't felt for a long time. I thank God for you and your music. I'm a addict, fucked up a lot of my life. When I look in your eyes I see the pain I've felt for so long. You are one of a kind. Reading the comments you have touched so many peoples lives. You will continue to reach people, help people, hopefully help yourself along the way. I'll keep you in my prayers. Peace

This year would been my mom's 76 birthday. First time ever hearing this dude was at 98 Rockfest in Tampa Florida in 2022. This song came on and I cried. It hit me so hard because I. Lost my mom in 2008 my grandma grandma in 1994, grandfather 2012, aunt in 2018. It sounded like it was speaking to me. Jelly keep up the good work bro means alot to people.
