It's really interesting watching these streams as a gamer. It shows how much we take things for granted and also how much developers do when making games. You guys are living the unique experience of approaching gaming for the first time with a game that is SO incredibly complicated even for people who know how to do it, and the game assumes that the player has previous knowledge of so many things to ensure a "smooth" gaming session. Mind, I'm in NO WAY saying you're doing a bad job at this, FAR FROM IT, you're just experiencing it in a way that a "navigated" gamer would never do. In this case, with this particular game, that approach opens up entire sessions of the game that I personally would never have experienced (Dev smooching a mind-flayer 5 minutes into the game, I'm looking at you :'D). It's so interesting to watch.

I also had to change my name, but to a Russian one. So my name is Basang, and I used to work in a call center in Russia. When I started, they asked me to change it to something "more convenient", so I went as Vasily for like a year, until my coworker who was hired for his knowledge of Azerbaijani language, refused to change his name outright. He said, you hired me as an Azerbaijani, so you'll get my Azerbaijani name. That gave me courage to ask to go back to my own name as well. They agreed, but said that if there were any complaints, I would have to change it back. Naturally, there were no complaints, nobody cared. But the whole situation made me ashamed of my own name and my ethnicity. That did not feel great. Can't imagine what it must've felt like to use the British variant of your name almost your whole life. Glad that's in the past!

It is amazing to me how Aliona feels with such intensity when doing naughty stuff like stealing. So far, with the unwillingness to kill grave robbers and the rush of stealing we have only seen her react powerfully to things that make her uncomfortable. I know when the good moments happen though that she will feel that same intensity, but in a positive way. This game has a few really good moments to feel happy about and I can't wait to see her go through them.

Cleave means both join and separate from. It's essentially its own antonym. You can cleave to something (join/cling to it) and cleave something in two (chop it into two) etc. Some words are fascinating like that.

Words which are their own opposites are known as "contronyms", "contranyms", "autoantonyms" or "antagonyms". They arise for a variety of reasons. Usually one of three things: 1. Words with specific meanings that then develop a broader meaning, potentially coming into conflict with the original. 2. Words with a broad meaning that develop specific ones that might mean something different. 3. Words that have different roots, but end up as homographs (words spelt the same but are actually different. Cleave is an example of this - coming from two separate Celtic (I believe) words. Other examples of contronyms include: Bolt: to join together (eg bolting one thing to another) or to separate by fleeing. Bound: held fast/unable to move, or heading in a direction. Buckle: To secure something by fastening together, or to collapse under pressure. Clip: To fasten one thing to another (as with a paperclip) or to cut one thing from another. My favorite part about the whole, them feeling bad about helping Lae-Zel torture people thing is that the writing on her character is actually good enough that you don't have to just agree with her like a lapdog for everything. I've seen on several playthroughs now where at the beginning people basically poke fun at her or outright shout her down at the start while she's being so mean to others and she ends up liking them in the long run all the same. She's a proud lady that care more about actions than pretty words and just wants a strong partner, even if she's too proud to admit it herself.

Besides "you two are so cute I am going to die": It's fun to see someone working their way through a game having near zero knowledge from previous games. It reminds me of a lecture I saw not too long ago about how learn, and that we can only keep 2-6 concepts in our short term memory at one time. And if we are unfamiliary with something, those "concepts" might just be.. a single letter. While if we know something those concepts can be whole sentences worth of info. So when we learn something new, those 6 slots gets filled up IMMEDIATELY with very small amounts of information, and then we get overwhelmed. It's why when you try to learn a lot at once things just.. don't stick and you can't focus (adhd not making it easier ofc!). But each time you process these new things repeatedly (and with different senses!) your brain can pull shortcuts letting you hold more and more in those 6 chunks and you can focus better on the details :) By ACT 2 of this game, you will have built those shortcuts and things you now struggle with will be muscle memory!

If people wanted to see "perfect play"(and I understand their is no such thing in this style game) they would watch somebody else but the chaos of getting thrown in prison and a fight at the same time while stranding Lae'zel over a dead body is part of the perfect fun of this party.

If I can throw out a vauge, seemingly out of context tip that will provide a lot of laughs, when exploring under the blighted village, bring gale so he can memorize a certain scroll vs using it once. The amount of growth you two (and Dev) have had since starting your playthroughs is amazing. Think about all the things you don’t even have to ask chat about now (quicksaving, changing characters, using abilities, etc.). Also A, the camera bug might be caused when the affected player presses the Right Arrow on the DPad. It happened to me while playing on PC with an Xbox controller, and I bet it’s the same for a PS5 controller. That button is supposed to switch to the next target character in combat but seems to be getting triggered outside of combat for some reason.

When you go to long rest you get new dialog before you go to the bedrolls to sleep. and you can also bring a forgotten companion to camp by taking control of them. you will find yourself back were you left them and just click go to camp and you do not have to load your whole party back to the companion first. hope that helps. love seeing you two play this together. would love to see you and other actors from BG3 doing more D&D streams like CR, their always bringing special guests on and Matt was Mincs. here is hoping :)

Hi Jen and Aliona! Loved being there for the stream! I was the one admonishing you Jen for looting the corpse, but I realized after that looting corpses is like, a constant thing in this game. Maybe just keep it to when the friends of the dead people CAN'T see you hahaha. Also if no one has told you, a "canon event" is a trend that came from the 2nd Spiderverse movie (which I highly recommend watching). You can think of it as something that was destined to happen and needed to to progress the plot, or the impetus to make a character grow. Depends how much and how long and how explicit. Some of the more graphic sex scenes definitely have issues on KZbin, so some additional editing might be required there. I also had a problem with some of the more graphic gory scenes like at the beginning where you remove the brain from the body, that episode is flagged for limited monetization on my account, it's still monetized but it's income is worse.

Consoles are just a game variant on the printer ink/razorblades grift anyway. 2nd rate hardware with overpriced artificial-monopoly consumables... largely preying on the people who (or who's parents) can't afford or don't have the space for a full function PC. (Though that hardware rat race is it's own snake pit)
