What a "blast from the past " for me. I had a blue 1300 ('66) bug back in 1968. drove that car for years. I went into the Navy and moved up to South Berwick ME with my parents. I drove that bug all around the NH and Maine area for a few years. Thanks for the memory ..

Awesome video!! Great family time!!!! I tried to teach my wife how to drive my standard Passat when our son was in a car seat in the back. After I while of playing red light green light, she started getting the hang of it. Then my son started getting restless, and that was it, she never drove it again. Traded it in for a Passat with a tiptronic transmission so we both could drive it!

Since I was born in 1951 I remember era of Volkswagen Beetles when I was growing up. My parents had a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle and a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle. I learned to drive a manual transmission car with the 1965 Volkswagen Beetle.

I had a 78 911SC when I met my now wife. She begged me to let her drive it. I finally gave in, and we made it about 100 feet before all you could smell was clutch. Yeah that was her first and last classic car experience

I’ve had many VW’s over the years but I remember my first ride as a passenger and was amazed how the road was right there in front of you no long hood! The last VW I owned was a brand new convertible in silver the last year they were made.The first one was a 60 s bought it for 50$s had no brakes brake line was rotted drove it for a year and sold it for 200$.I had a 59 with semaphore’s also a lot of buses and campers you could buy them really cheap in the 80s.Drove from Florida to NY,California the Midwest great memories.Never had a bug let me down.I am an Ex Pat retired in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 now and still see a lot of them on the road.Great Video brought back good memories thanks 🙏

Beautiful car! I’ve driven Beetles in every climate, on every type of road (and many non roads) short and long distances and out of every car I’ve experienced, it’s still my favorite to drive. A well sorted VW is a really nice driving car.

I haven't drive a Volkswagen beetle since the mid 80's. It was a 67 1600 I believe. I remember very well how the road felt under those tires & the fact Beetle had very little if any insulation so you felt ever bump. I was nervous driving it because of that, but also I have big feet so it was a bit difficult using the floor peddles & often I locked the breaks cause I couldn't feel the peddles sensitivity. I preferred to drive the old 68 Volkswagen type 1 panel van. I love the beetle but it wasn't comfortable to drive on ANY road requiring more than 50 MPH. Your Beetle is GORGEOUS looks pristine. I wish I could give the beetle another try to see if it was just me back then. I do know this, Comparing todays cars to yesterdays cars ? You had to DRIVE those cars, today, cars think for you making people very unskilled lazy drivers & its why many have accidents today. Too many luxury appointments which distracts the driver from actually DRIVING the car. Todays roads scare the living hell out of me & the speeds people drive, especially when they have cell phones & must answer them when driving. Driving is a skill which most folks don't seem to have anymore. If you own a car, you need to know how to drive & maintain it yourself so it doesn't cost an arm & leg to fix which most dont know how to do now. Its why I loved the old classics cause there was nothing digital about them forcing you to have to send it in for servicing which costs a bleeding fortune today & You cant really trust mechanics either for fair prices. I loved the video & I remember my experiences with VW's. I understand why Jennifer is nervous cause these old cars had their quirks & feels compared to days comfort cars, I think she did fantastic for being nervous. I hope Your Son learns to drive a classic car & own one too so he knows how & to share the memories his parents experienced. I great memory for sure :)

Forty years ago I bought a white '65 with red vinyl interior while I was in college. I just loved it so much, much more than the ' 74 that I'd bought new. Even here in hot Texas, the vent windows make it comfortable enough. I love this car!

I do sometimes forget that most Americans drive automatic. Jen although a bit nervous drove very well even with the backseat driver🤔. I would call that a cruise around your neighbourhood.
