Hi Jeniffer. The reason, why you , me and millions others have this disease is HYPERINSULINIMIA - combination of insuline resistence and metabolic syndrom. You can prove it by testing yourself (fasting insuline and c-peptide level) , so then you will get a real medical proof. With all respect to doctor, he was really nice person, he kept repeating the same mantra over and over again. The key is limiting loads of types of food from your diet along with lapplying ow carb diet (50g /daily maximum), and intermitten fasting (5/19 hours cycle) due to empowering your insuline functioning. i Can provide you more information to share it - all for free - iam not seller (supplements, hygiene products, food to eat. etc. I improved my health condition from hurley stage 2 or 3 to stage 1.

I developed HS for the 1st time 2 years ago. I didn't need a Doctor diagnosis because after talking to my younger sister once, she mentioned she had had it for years. Fortunately, I usually only get one boil flare-up every year. They rupture 50% of the time. And I think you're onto something with the zinc thing. I've noticed that even during a flare-up, if I triple up my zinc intake it stops the progression & speeds up the healing. God bless all my fellow HS survivors / warriors. I'm going to look into eliminating dairy, too, even though I already do KETO w/ IF. 🙏🏻🙌🏼💯

I’m coming to terms with having HS as opposed to folliculitis. Looking back, laser hair removal I had years ago really significantly reduced this disease for me however it is coming back as my hair is growing back. I am going to try IPL at home to help hopefully. Also, yeast being a trigger makes sense. I’ve noticed bread is a trigger for me - especially white bread. Any baked goods really. I’m clear on keto and flare when I’m back on a regular diet. This disease affects my intimate life a lot. It makes me sad. I want to find a cure.

I very much understand. You may want to consider if yeast is a trigger considering what's going on in your GI tract. Gut health and the microbiome balance can play a role in conditions like this.

I have a question in regards to eliminating yeast from diet to help HS... wild yeast found in fruits like berries, apples, grapes, etc. is the yeast in these foods the same as brewer's yeast, nutritional yeast and baker's yeast? If we are trying to avoid yeast to help improve HS do we need to avoid forms of wild yeast as well?? If anyone might be able to provide more helpful information on this it would be so greatly appreciated. I have had HS for over 15 years now, it has been such a challenge.. seeing countless of doctors throughout the years who wouldn't even be able to tell me what it was, incisions, antibiotics, being prescribed Metformin... I literately was given the diagnosis of HS just last year. I am now looking for ways that I can take it on myself with diet changes by switching to a whole food plant based diet, working with a therapist to help manage stress and anxiety. I know there is no cure for HS but I am highly hopeful that I can get to the bottom of what my triggers are so that I can cause remission. Thank you for this great content and for anyone reading this that might be able to offer some help.

Thank you for this episode. I just want to clarify for anyone in who wants to include zinc to possibly help their flares, high dose ZINC GLUCONATE was what was studied with good results. The type of zinc likely matters. But be careful, as high dose can have adverse effects on the digestive system - best to use normal dose or high dose only under a doc supervision. I haven’t used it myself, but am planning to.

Thank you Dr. Daveluy and Jennifer for this super informative and validating pod. It took incessant calls, given unnecessary, useless antibiotics, subjected to contrast fluid for a CT. I've been fiercely self advocating since 2020 to finally get a correct diagnosis just 2 months ago. I am used to being healthy, so I immediately investigate any oddball symptom. My derm prescribed a series of 4 steroid injections. She's defensive when I say that I'm seeking a cure. I'm grateful I discovered you. You prepared me to continue being proactive and informed. I did notice a flare up after consuming brie cheese. We're onto something.🌱💗🌱

I'm thinking about looking into laser hair removal for it

@@YourzzTrulyy I stopped the steroids after the prescribed 6 week series. The derm Dr. said I'd only need a series. The flaring cycles continued and I got adverse symptoms from the steroids, itchy, flakey, skin and lowered immune system. The doctor lied when I immediately asked if this was a cure and if there were side effects. She was angry and pushy when I shared my experience and I rejected further injections. She then tried to convince me that I needed injections for an entire year. She lost all credibility with her lying. I've discovered that after taking every action possible to be amongst, kind, level-headed people, my H.S. feels non-existant. Recently I was exposed to 2 moody people with chaos producing rages, I had an HS flare up. I completely avoid one of them, with a drama addiction, who doesn't want harmony. The other I was able to set clear communication boundaries with and we have understanding, mutual respect, and laughter. Calmness is my cure.

Hi Jennifer firstly thank you so much for doing this Podcast and thank you to Steve who is amazing and I so wish he was my doctor and I had found anybody who could help me in the last 20 years . I went on the typical journey it was lymph nodes and then shaving and then acne etc etc after rounds and round of antibiotics and worse medication such as isotetronoin and nothing has worked. I finally discovered I have HS around 6 months ago . I'm awaiting a dermatology referral however waiting lists are long. This disease has destroyed my life and everything I ever loved about myself and I really want to beat it . I'm curious did Steve every say anything about nightshades? As I've seen contradicting things on these too . I'm currently just over a really awful outbreak and never want to suffer that again . I'm trying everything I can find to make this better . For anybody out there never give up. We are together in this ❤️
@jenfugo Жыл бұрын
No, he didn't mention anything about nightshades. I haven't clinically seen a correlation with nightshade being a trigger. I think to some degree, it's a personal experience BUT I do think that solely focusing on food as the main culprit is shortsighted as there tends to be gut dysbiosis as well (commonly fungal overgrowth)
@yorkiedave9640 Жыл бұрын
@Jennifer Fugo thank you for responding, that's interesting I've read a few things on nightshades but nothing conclusive. Few people have mentioned it helped them but as we know it's a very individual disease . I'm really struggling at the moment with flare ups on the left side of my face and they just will not retreat! I'm trying to edit my diet but this does take time . Is there anything you could recommend? Interesting on the Gut Dysbiosis that's something I need to do more research in . My health care providers just aren't clued up about this and I'm struggling to get the help and support I need . So much so I'm going to start an awareness campaign for the UK because there is so little knowledge. I really enjoyed listening to this episode and it opened my eyes alot . Diet can't be the only focus and other factors must be considered too . Again thank you it's really reassuring to hear other people talk about this I always thought I was alone.

I tried the yeast free diet and zinc when I was in my early 20's... sorry, that just did nothing at all. BUT... I did find a cure many suffering years later... YES IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE CURE for me.... eating parsnip soup four times a week. I discovered it by total accident because I had got into making vegetable soups. Parsnips were the last vegetable I tried because I never liked their flavour. Just out of curiosity I tried making a parsnip soup and added a little milk to tone down the strong flavour of parsnips and found it wasn't so bad after all. I then experimented with roasting parsnips before making the soup, that also tones down the strong parsnip flavour. Adding a small amount of potato, wholegrain rice or cashew nuts can also help smooth out the flavour. Once cooked I'd blend it smooth.... it seems more effective eaten as a blended smooth soup. I also learned to like parsnips more and ate them with some of my meals... especially roasted... they taste awesome!! It totally transformed my skin... no more abscesses, no more itchy skin (I had other dry skin conditions on my hands resulting in tiny blisters)... it all vanished within a few weeks. I also found using a shower hose and spraying cold water on the effected areas hugely helped in clearing an abscess up. The cold water closes the pores of the skin preventing bacteria getting through the skin and making everything worse. Avoiding touching the effected area also helps as any kind of touching the abscess just seemed to make it worse. Also I discovered all citrus fruits, tomatoes, food products with vinegar like ketchup and mayonnaise were a really bad irritant to my skin... seemed to encourage abscesses. Once I had healed, after six months I gradually introduced those foods back and found as long as I kept that parsnip soup going in my diet, I could eat them with no bad effects to my skin. Parsnips have a tremendous healing properties... totally underrated vegetable. Please give it a try and see if it might help you too.

I’ve been thinking about laser hair removal for this for a while now and you’re the first person I’ve heard mention it. I was diagnosed back in 2014 and I’ve only been offered clindamycin. I wasn’t trying to take antibiotics all the time so I went plant based in 2018 eventually which I think did help. For having it as long as I have I could’ve progressed it much further had I not made that change or quit smoking. I like a very active lifestyle though and have difficulty with managing stress which I noticed is a big trigger for it, so I still deal with it from time to time. trying to make headway with this has felt like living in a closet …with not much going on with new information on HS. Going to try the Zinc and talk to my doc about the antibodies. Doing my best to avoid and prevent more scaring in the future and super hopeful on laser hair removal.

But the groin is affected by that sweat feeling and it irritates the skin and when walking and chafing it blisters up. The blister can pop same day no problem at like a friction blister. But they come daily. And the sweat in the groin has to be extremely managed. And the whole skin in groin is irritated. Still seems like follicle issue but never a boil for 10 years.
