A crossover exist. Lake Placid vs. Anaconda (2015). Made for the Syfy network. Although both series started in 1997, this was the 5th entry for each one. This was the precursor to the 'Killer animal vs. Killer animal craze.

I loved your great reaction, Jen. Your creature feature double bill was excellent. I have to say that I really like Lake Placid out of the two the best, probably because I used to have a major crush on Bridget Fonda. Two great films with her in are, 'Single White Female' and 'The Assassin' both well worth reacting to.

Great reaction Jen! I'm heading over to your Anaconda reaction now🐍 For a slightly (very slightly) more realistic creature feature, check out Arachnophobia (1990) starring Jeff Daniels and John Goodman. If you wanted to do another double feature, you could pair Arachnophobia with Eight Legged Freaks (2002), another spider themed monster movie with some comedy elements. The Mist (2007) is based on a Stephen King novella and has some rather nasty critters lurking in the mist of the title. The Descent (2005) combines cave exploration gone wrong with the creature feature genre. This one has two endings. Most people consider the original to be the better of the two. The original ending is in the UK edit while the second ending is in the US version. If you want to see one of the classics, Creature From the Black Lagoon (1954) is one of the Universal Horror films that started the whole genre.

The dialogue in this movie is what sets it apart from movies like Anaconda. This movie is genuinely funny and most of the performances were believable. The croc looked good (thanks to Stan Winston) and the movie didn't take itself too seriously. Anaconda had terrible VFX and some pretty questionable acting, what made it funny is that it took itself too seriously. (they thought they were making an actual scary movie). I gotta give Lake Placid a pretty decisive win in this match up but I loved both reactions and this was a fun afterwork treat!
@paulonius42 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I think if this is a good cheesy film while Anaconda is a bad cheesy film. There is nothing outrageously dumb or insulting to the audience's intelligence here, the performances are all exactly what they need to be, and it has Betty White, so Anaconda can't even begin to compete. Then again, Jon Voight is so bewildering in that movie...

The animatronic used in this was really that big, the end shot with it on the flatbed, that's the real animatronic, there's videos of them doing test runs with it to see how fast it could could go and it could actually propel itself through the water because of how much force the hydraulics in the tail section gave off, imagine seeing that shit lol, just a random lake with a crowd of people and a huge Crocodile swimming through the water. I'll throw in a suggestion for another creature feature it's called Congo, about discovering gorillas in the congo, and chaos ensues.

Not putting this in the same category as Jaws, but even when this flick came out, the reviews were overwhelmingly positive, saying the last time characters in a creature-feature were so well rounded and written was Jaws. I love this flick. Thanks for another giddy watchalong, Jen.

Bridget Fonda was a pretty big star in the 90’s. A couple of films you might want to check out are “Single White Female” from 1992 and “Point Of No Return”. (A.k.a. The Assassin) from 1993. This second film was a remake of the superb French film “La Femme Nikita” (or sometimes just “Nikita”) from 1990.

Hi Jen, "I'm back with nuclear weapons!"🙂I just realized that woman is Bridget Fonda, Jane Fonda's niece. She was pretty good in Quentin Tarrantino's "Jackie Brown" (1997). Damn it Bill Pullman, you were the President in "Independence Day"! Take charge, man! Brendan Gleeson (Sheriff Hank) was in the Harry Potter films. Aha, Betty White is the bad guy.😉I knew it wasn't the poor crocodiles fault. The poor animal is just trying to get a ride out of there. "BEAR!" "Croc vs Bear!" "Oh my God, he ate a BEAR!!" - Jen Murray Hi Jen 🙋♂️ A daily double Jenaganza!! Two Jen's for the price of one!! This movie, like Independence Day, is one I always seem to leave on tv when it's showing. Yes they made multiple sequels, but they're not even close to the same production value. Tremor's also has lots of sequels, but follow the same formula, not very good. As for some more creature features, Arachnophobia (1990), or it's lighter cheesier version 8 Legged Freaks(2002). Also Snakes on a Plane (2006) with Samuel Jackson. Speaking of Samuel, he also did another creature feature Deep Blue Sea (1999). Oh yeah and Godzilla, the original (1954) or new (2014). Thanks for the double shot of Jennisms 🙋♂️🍾🥂🍾

"Are they attracted to panic motion, like sharks?!" Crocs can see fairly well, and even underwater (but much less clearly) thanks to a membrane that slides over their eyes. Even if you stay still, they will know where and what you are ("He wants man-flesh!" 🤣🤣🤣). They are very cool predators, but very scary.

Crocs can perform a sudden, short burst of speed, clocked at around 48 km/h. It's usually a very short distance and in a straight line, because the maneuver produces a lot of lactic acid in the muscles, causing them to cramp up, until their circulation can carry away the waste acid. I'm vague about the 'short distance' deliberately, because I feel like if I have a croc lunging at me, I don't stop running until MY legs cramp.
