When No Time To Die came out, "fans" were saying a woman can't be a 00 agent. Yet in Thunderball, which came out in the 60s, you can see the council of 00 agents and a woman is sitting with them.
@jamesbooty2 ай бұрын
I don't think they were saying a woman couldn't be a 00, but they were saying that a woman couldn't be James Bond... this was largely in response to click-bait headlines where they were claiming that Bond was going "woke" and would be played by a woman... which is a distortion of what actually occurred.

I'm of the opinion that Bond got cancer from the irradiated water in Dr. No's nuclear reactor, and that's why Connery was replaced by George Lazenby in 1969. Either that, cirrhosis of the liver, or lung cancer. As well Eunice Gayson playing Sylvia Trench in two films, other female supporting actors appeared in multiple roles in different films: Kerim Bey's secretary was played by Nadja Regin, who also appeared as the dancer Bonita (bathtub electrocution) in Goldfinger (1964). Martine Beswick played Zora the gypsy fighting girl in From Russia With Love, as well as Bond's co-worker Paula in Jamaica in Thunderball. Mai Ling played both Mei-Lei in Goldfinger and Bath Girl #2 in You Only Live Twice. The one woman who had the longest-lasting relationship with Bond was Lois Maxwell's Miss Moneypenny, appearing in a total of 25 Bond films and being protrayed by six actresses. You would be Miss MoneyJenny, and Thunderball is my favorite Connery Bond film, with You Only Live Twice a close second. Akiko Wakabayashi is my favorite Bond girl.

There is a rocket-powered gun in real life called the Gyrojet. It never took off, and examples are rare collector's items today. In fact, the rocket gun in _You Only Live Twice_ looks exactly like it, and probably really is a Gyrojet. The rocket-powered ammo looks identical, as well, so that must be it. The point is to produce little if any recoil, which can help when shooting under the condition of weightlessness.

In real life, there is a company called Rocket Lab who are building a rocket that is similar to the spacecraft in _You Only Live Twice_ . It's called the Neutron, and it will have kind of a "mouth" at the front that splits open. It will be a reusable rocket like SpaceX's Falcon 9, and the "petals" of the "mouth" take the place of aerodynamic fairings that are normally jettisoned. When the Neutron has expended its fuel, its "mouth" will open to release the internal second stage, and the main rocket will land to be reused again. It looks like life imitating art to me.

Such large electromagnets are used in junkyards all the time. In most instances, I think that Bond deliberately exposes himself to the enemy, taking risks to uncover and foil their diabolical schemes. I'm not sure how many times he has deliberately wanted to be captured, but if he's anything like James West in the original _The Wild Wild West_ (1965) TV show, then sometimes that is the plan. Of course, the main difference to keep in mind here is that West always has his partner Artemis Gordon sneaking around to help, while Bond is often on his own, so it's probably less frequent that Bond actually plans or wants to be captured.
