All the actors playing the villagers of the hidden council were once quite famous for secret agent and detective roles in the distant past. Another clue as to something that was going on. There was a impressive amount of callbacks in the film, all of which were used. making it well worth watching again to spot the them. The acting instructions for Timothy Dalton was literally "ham it up and be as suspicious as possible." I think this is a masterpiece of editing by Edgar Wright.

Great reaction. Now it's time to watch the third movie of the "Cornetto-Trilogy" - THE WORLD'S END". "Hot Fuzz" on the other hand is my personal favorite. PS: "By the power of Grayskull" is from "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe"

A great Timothy Dalton film to watch is 'Hawks' it is a bitter sweet comedy that will have you laughing and crying, a grossly underrated movie that is rarely seen, but acknowledged by many as one of his greatest screen performances!

Don’t let anybody put you off watching ‘The World’s End’, Jen. Its reputation as the weakest of the trilogy is undeserved. It mightn’t be the best one but for writing and sheer clever wordplay, it’s superb. Every shot and scene pays off later in the movie and there’s a wonderful Arthurian quest theme to the whole thing. Check out the character names!

I enjoyed it more on my second watch of it.

I think "The World's End" is a grower where the other two are showers, haha. I was not that impressed with TWE, but after repeated viewing, I now like it as much as the other two. They cover Horror, Action and Sci-fi equally well.

Did Jen enjoy it? I'm going to say it's a Yarp!

This is my fav from the Cornetto trilogy for sure. The more I watch it the more I like it. At World's End gets a yarp from me, but it is weaker one, so you might want to lower your expectations. But still has its moments. Besides that, I would recommend another Pegg/Frost movie that almost ended up being the third installment, but Wright couldn't direct it because he was working on Scott Pilgrim. It is the movie Paul (2011), an homage to Spielberg and sci-fi in general. For more Dalton I can only join to the crowd recommending Rocketeer (1991). He is only a supporting actor but plays a dashing charmer.

This is a favorite in my house. I remember seeing the trailer in the theater at the time and saying to my kids “we need to see that”!

There's nothing to worry about Jen either way that Danny is going to be okay. 👍

One of my all-time favorite films has Timothy Dalton as part of a legendary ensemble cast: "The Lion In Winter". While it takes place at Christmastime, there is a distinct lack of comfort and joy.

Please please please do World’s End soon! And then Paul, which isn’t a Cornetto movie but it is till a Pegg & Frost team up! As for Hot Fuzz, some say it’s a fictional film, but at heart it is a chillingly accurate documentary about cutthroat small-town country life in the UK! The only thing that wasn’t true to life was that the swan they’re chasing was a mute swan, and they don’t make any noises apart from sort of wheezy cough sounds. Other than that, 100% accurate. And the cast… oh boy! The village is absolutely stacked with actors from action movies, police dramas and crime films! You’ve got James Bond, the Equaliser, the lead in The Wicker Man, the villains from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Lethal Weapon 2, the mum from the Krays, the Hound, any number of British comedy actors and two Oscar winners! And it was all for the greater good. The greater good.

If you love the dashing Timothy Dalton, I would highly recommend Wuthering Heights (1970), Flash Gordon (1980), Brenda Starr (1989), The Rocketeer (1991), and The Beautician and the Beast (1997). Also, don’t miss the TV miniseries Jane Eyre (1983).

The quick cuts of the different bookings has music by Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion. Kind of an obscure mid-90's band that is criminally underrated if known at all.

I love the soundtrack to this film. It’s always good to hear a bit of Staveley Makepeace

"I wonder what Janine looks like." Well... she looks like Cate Blanchett. One of many strange cameos in this movie. Like: the Santa at the beginning with the knife was played by Peter Jackson, the director of "Lord of the Rings". On my list of Timothy Dalton movies worth checking out, I would say "Flash Gordon" from 1980 and "The Rocketeer". Well, this "Point Break" reference is an iconic moment, but I would hardly call it a spoiler. Also it is pretty hard to avoid it in this movie, since it plays a key role in some scenes. The music during the scene with the weapon arsenal was actually the trailer music to all "Lethal Weapon" films. P. S. Yes, you should definitely watch "The World's End"!
