I believe they should have ended it at Rocky 3, it was perfrect. With part 4, it went into fantacy / spoof realm. Drago’s 2150lb/sq/inch punch (last montage) paints the towering Russian as basically super human. Rocky would be knocked out in Round 1 just like Appolo who in fact in part 3 explicitly states that Clubber Lang’s punches are too heavy for Rocky to last many rounds. This is why for the rematch Appolo has to teach Rocky his own style in order to put Clubber Lang away early. Now, Drago punches way harder than Clubber. If it wasn’t for Appolo’s observation and the actual numerical display of Drago’s insane strength Rocky 4 might have worked but as it was, Drago is basically unbeatable boxing bot on roids.

I always appreciate your willingness to be upfront when you're just not feeling a movie - especially when it lands in the middle of an otherwise great franchise. A whole lot went wrong with this one; they really wanted to end the series by bringing it full circle with original locations and characters reappearing from the first two movies. They even brought back the original director, John G. Avildsen, who won an Oscar for directing "Rocky;" but the creative relationship between himself and Stallone was much more contentious this time. Directors had been fired off of a couple of recent Stallone movies and he had the contractual right to the final cut of the film. His original plan was for Rocky to die in Adrian's arms after the street fight! Thankfully he was talked out of that and the scene was never filmed. "Rocky Balboa" is a big improvement and a much more satisfying final chapter before the "Creed" saga begins. I look forward to your reaction!

This movie is not bad, just different from his brothers, in doesn't have a training montage and it's soundtrack is plenty of earlys 90's rap there is no a proper musical theme, like the 1-2 going the distance, 3- eye of the tiger, 4-hearts on fire and war, even the 6- It's a fight. That's why the 5 is the weird brother, but I like it, it is just different, but is a chapter on Rocky Story

I grew up watching these movies first time I'm hearing Rocky V isn't that well liked. What's the difference between this movie and 3 and 4? The first two were more on the drama side, 3 4 and V more on the action side. I mean he retires after fighting Drago due to brain damage getting worse, he trains a young fighter who hits like Mike Tyson. The kid betrays him and challenges him to a fight. Rocky refuses until he hits Paulie, then Rocky fights him outside on the street. What's not awesome about that?

The setup of Paulie signing away power of attorney doesn't really make much sense. It's extremely unlikely that Rocky and Adrian would've both agreed to give a boorish dope like Paulie power of attorney over their entire estate in the first place, especially since both Rocky and Adrian are still both young and relatively healthy enough to make their own legal and financial decisions (aside from Rocky's brain damage, of course.) There just doesn't seem to be a need for them to grant power of attorney to anyone at all. It's merely a plot contrivance because Stallone wanted to bring Rocky back to his gritty street roots after the silly excesses of Rocky IV.
@pencilnecked15798 ай бұрын
I always thought it was that Paulie was given a bunch of stuff ( paperwork for stuff like visas, etc) for Rocky to sign before heading to Russia and the accountant slipped in the Power of Attorney paperwork telling Paulie it was a form requesting an extension on paying taxes. The ending, which had Adrian eulogize Rocky by saying, "As long as there are people willing to meet challenges of life and not surrender until their dreams become realities, the world will always have their Rockys", would not come to pass. Producer Irwin Winkler and Avildsen were not big on the ending, with the former stating that it was never shot while also stating that Stallone eventually was convinced to change the ending.

I say this under every Rocky 5 reaction, but the original version was much darker. The music is more ominous, none of the "he took my room!" stuff is in there, and Rocky actually dies at the end from trauma to the brain. But Hollywood never likes to kill off franchises that they can squeeze for more money, so they made Stallone change it. The original cut is on KZbin if you want to watch it. One part I wish they had left in is when the fight is over Rocky holds out his hand to help Tommy up and Tommy looks ashamed. Whereas in this version we just assume he never learns his lesson.

Great and honest reaction Jen! YOU WILL like "Rocky Balboa/Rocky 6. I'll only say it's the sequel that most matches the first "Rocky " in terms of recapturing the "charm" that made people like the original. PLEASE REACT TO Stallone's 1981 "NIGHTHAWKS"!!! THEE -Most underrated cop movie of all time!!! NYPD cop Deke DaSilva (Stallone) fights international terrorism on American soil 20 years before 9-11-2001!!!! NO ONE ELSE has reacted to it and every Sylvester Stallone fan loves it! It's the movie that convinced audiences that he can definitely play other roles well besides "Rocky"! If you react to it- enjoy being the first to do so! God bless you 🙏

I don’t know why everyone puts this one down. In my opinion it’s just as good as all the others. I like the different take on the end fight being a street fight. 💯🔥🤙🏽😎

I remember Stallone saying that, at his age, Rocky shouldn't be able to win a boxing match, but he could still win a street fight with no rules hence the climactic brawl in "Rocky V." I think George Foreman helped make the idea of an old boxer still being able to hold his own in the ring more plausible and helped open the way for "Rocky Balboa" (my very close second place favorite movie in the franchise).

You are going to LOVE Rocky Balboa. I know the first two were amazing, but I actually think that this last Rocky movie is the best of them. And then it gets better when you move on to the Creed trilogy.

19:38 Exactly how long of a period of time did this movie transpire over? It had to take a while for Tommy Gunn to compile a 22-0 record. And those were major fights if he worked his way up to being the #1 contender(and eventual champ).

2 years maybe. Tyson went 19-0 in his first year boxing.
