LeVarr Burton was quite a famous actor before taking on the role of Geordi LaForge. He was quite beloved by children across the US for his work on the PBS series, "Reading Rainbow". Exactly this, I left a comment about the same thing. It's the only weakness to this part of the storyline, they did not address the right of a patient to refuse treatment based on their own beliefs. Too focused on Worfs choice they didn't let the characters think about the Romulans choice to refuse.

_"Not even the Doctor asked permission."_ A kink in the armor of the otherwise-inspiring utilitarianism of TNG.

It actually makes more sense to get permission from Worf before offering a solution to the patient.. There is also the concept of therapeutic privilege which suggests that Crusher doesn't need to inform the Romulan given the alternative is certain death. The discussion of ethics are interesting because you can argue to tell him the origin of resolution may be just as unethical as not telling him.

There is so much to love about 3x7 "the Enemy". First, Picards stance towards the Romulans. Normally one would have expected that he would try to sort out a compromise in this situation, but Picard made it clear that he definitely was ready to fight, should the Romulans cross the border. (i love standoffs like that) Also, i love that he is a Character who wants his Crew to make their own choices (at least when it comes to personal matter, which a blood donor is). Lesser show writers had simply made Picard order Worf to do what he thinks is best in this situation. (I'm 100% certain that a certain other Captain would have done this *cough*Janeway*cough*.) Second, Worfs choice NOT to help the Romulan. To me this is the (galorndon...klingon(?)) core of this Episode. It showed, that altough Worf was raised in the Federation, he is still a Klingon at his heart. It's not that i like his decision, but i LOVE that the writers/Producers had the balls to go against what a character would have had normally done in a TV series of the early 90s. Lesser writers would have either made Worf act completely out of character and made him help the Romulan, because it is the "right thing to do" (and the audience has to see what the "right choice" is) OR Worf would have been depicted as the bad guy and his decision as clearly evil. But back then writers had trust that the audience was not stupid. Great Writing!

Just a bit of Trek Lore: The Milky Way Galaxy is subdivided into four quarters, the Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta Quadrant. Earth (and the Federation) is exactly at the border of Alpha and Beta Quadrant. Fun fact: Wormholes (connections between 2 points in space, which are shorter than the normal distance between the 2 points) are mathematically valid solutions to Einstein's Theory of Relativity. However, we've never observed any indications they actually exist and cannot figure out how one might construct them and keep them stable (the wormhole would collapse before anything had time to pass through it). However, a recent quantum physics paper called ER = EPR has proposed that wormholes and quantum entanglement between particles are actually the same thing. ER are the initials for the co-authors on a paper about wormholes, Einstein and Rosen (1935), and in fact wormholes are also sometimes called Einstein-Rosen bridges. EPR is the initials for the co-authors who proposed a paradox based on quantum entanglement (the paradox showing that our understanding of quantum entanglement must be incomplete): Einstein, Podolsky, & Rosen (1935). Despite both papers being published in the same year and both Einstein and Rosen being co-authors for both papers/concepts, it wasn't until 2013 that Susskind and Maldacena connected the two, proposing that quantum entanglement between 2 particles is actually a wormhole between the two. If true, this could further show why travel through wormholes will never be possible, they're too small.

There's a question about bodily autonomy in The Enemy. Not only should Worf not be forced to donate, but the Romulan patient should also not be forced to receive treatment.

I love this episode for alot of reasons but i especially love Picards talk with Worf, how Worf can't bring himself save the Romulan and Picard can't bring himself to order Worf to do it. Both men know what would be the right thing to happen, but neither can bypass their deeply held beliefs to make it happen.

You never know, "The Price" might be important and referenced later on in the Trek universe.

Had to look it up, and yup! That's him Andreas Katsulas! So sad he's passed, he was a great actor. In fact I think about half the cast is gone from B5.

@11:25 Jen wonders how much Humans and Romulans have interacted. This now has me wondering if _'The Enterprise Incident'_ was one of the Original Series episodes she previously watched. My puzzlement can be solved by a check of episodes she has in her playlist. Alas, hers will have to remain for more solid answers could be labeled as spoilers.

1:18 "Can he see _anything_ without his VISOR?" I suspect, if he could, he probably would not have made a good candidate for it.
