I never really clicked-with the show the office, but she has such a great and engaging and human personality and presence in these offcamera clips. Very captivating. I've been chain watching her clips as they pop up. I'd love to see more with her as this persona.

Love her. She's easy to love, obviously. That being said giving up might actually be good advice for people who are never going to "make it" in a certain field, as well. Even John Krasinski from her same show will tell you how effing LUCKY he was to nab his part in "The Office". He was ready to give up pretty early on and his mother told him to just give it few more months. It certainly didn't take him ten years and his first real job was arguably a rain maker. Don't get me wrong I do believe that persistence pays off but there does seem to be an element of extreme luck in many cases. Imagine if Jenna wasn't pretty or if John had gone home just a bit earlier. We'd know neither of their names.

Sure, luck is a big part, but she made a lot of decisions to get to the party. Luck is important, but there are a lot of ways to greatly improve your odds.

I got similar advice from, of all people, Harrison Ford when I met him back in 2005. There was much more said, but that alone was enough to really push me.

@@BreannaMae The phrase tou used "of all people" has a negatic connotation; that's why.
@BreannaMae

@@Panos__P That may be how you took it, but it wasn't intended to be negative. The reason I said "of all people" is because it was Harrison Ford, a legendary movie star, who gave me the advice. I mean what an amazing person to get advice from.

The problem isn't "making it" in whatever field it is you're pursuing, it's dealing with all the small, angry, bitter people constantly trying to drag you back down every time you take a step forward. I've spent 25 years as a community organizer and professional malcontent, working at grass-roots on the street. I've done my time fighting riot cops, going to prison, having insulting editorials written about me, being called crazy in the press, being followed around by alphabet agencies, and finding bugs in my apartment. But the worst times have always come when I start being the media's go-to guy for sound bites on certain subjects, or offered my own radio show. That's when the knives come out and it's my own comrades sinking knives in my back for "selling out." I was a young man when I started, and I'm middle-aged now. Activism is a young man's game for a reason; it's lonely, tiring, forces you to live in destitution, and destroys your physical health. As the years went along, I got older but all the people fighting at my side stayed the same age. They can afford their youthful idealism, a few years of harder-core-than-thou campus radicalism and then it's off to their dad's stockbrokerage. Meanwhile, I live without a fridge or stove or shower, in an unheated, unfinished basement of an old plastics factory, using what meagre resources I have to renovate the building into a community centre. All the while, being forced to deal with criticism and betrayal from successive generations of young radicals who don't understand -- yet -- the kind of sacrifices this life demands. So yes, I understand Jenna Fischer when she talks about buckling down and preparing for the long journey, recognizing that skill and dedication isn't enough; you have to have the patience to endure attacks not just from your front but from your back.

Hi. I'm really sorry. I thank you for your lifelong work. I'm only 29 and I gave up on the psychiatric survivor movement and activist work there already for that reason. It's thankless and people are at each other's throats.

I hope this acting thing works out for Jenna because she just said that she lied to her boss and everybody she works with. She deviously had to get sicker throughout the day. She is a criminal mastermind.
