Jenna Lyons on Leaving J. Crew and Joining Real Housewives of New York

After being named executive creative director at J. Crew, Jenna Lyons was on the TIME100 list in 2013. She left the company in 2017, and today she has a line of natural-looking fake eyelashes, and will be the first openly queer member of the Real Housewives of New York.

She was on Wendy Williams (ikr?) promoting her lashes and I loved when she said she started that line because she thought once she left J Crew that there would be calls left and right offering her jobs and there wasn't and it was humbling so she started from scratch. I love how real and honest she was cause you know not everyone is willing to admit that.

JCrew had the best clothes when Jenna was Creative Director. My closet was filled with their clothes. Sadly, I rarely shop there anymore because the designs are below average at best.

She couldn't be fired. But, she was forced out. They blamed her for all the financial crisis j Crew was going through at the time (even though, y'know, they gave too much creative power to one person without support, which is the CEO's fault, plus the company did other things to put them in intense debt which had nothing to do with creative), focused all their energy on sister brand and 'mutually departed' from Jenna - they did a great job making her the bad guy, and she crawled her way back up like a true queen does. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKDTkp5ppLSmjJo
