dear lady, i love your video, its very informational. there is one thing i noticed. you dont seem to understand resolution that well its true if your resolution is higher on a picture defined by length with in inches or centimeters etc it will be harder for your laptop as it will contain more pixels in that immage then if you had a lower resolution. however.... you created your image with a with and length defined in pixels. 2000 x 2000 pixels to be correct, when you then have a low or high resolutions is of no concern it will stil be 2000 x 2000 pixels. your laptop wont go faster or get more laggy of you put a high or low resolution in it. the 300 people talk about is a resolution of 300 pixels per inch and is more there for printing as mst printers use 300 dots per inch in most prints. setting your canvas as 300 means it will print out at a certain size. but as i said you did not define your canvas in a size by inches or centimeters but by 2000 x 2000 pixels you can have a resolution of 1 or 300000 it will still be 2000 x 2000 pixels for the laptop to work with your resolution says ppi meaning pixels per inch and that corresponds to your printer dpi meaning dots per inch. so once you set your canvas to 2000x2000 pixels puttinng a higher or lower number resolution in the box wont change your image quality in any way. so its better for you to set it to 300 in case you wish to print. love the video a lot btw. good work, just subscribed

Hi, almost a year ago I got my first graphic tablet. It was the cheapest I could get my hands on and I couldn't afford a proper drawing program either so I found out about Krita. Another one to fix lag. If you have windows 8 and above go to configure krita, under tablet setting change tablet input from wintab to window8+ pointer input. Work for me i got 0 lag instant draw

I'm mixed on this video: Good: I really like how you talk about setting things up, and navigation. I also like you taking to show & explain your preferred brushes. Bad: Once you start painting - You speed everything up, and don't show how to do some of the important bits, like how to setup masks in layers. For the next video, would you mind taking a few to slow down on parts, like masks, layers and other things you're doing, and show how to do that? (For those who are getting started in drawing, not just getting started in Krita.)

yeah, same here... none of them have those names for me update: settings > manage resources > move default resources to active bundles and hit OK > create new canvas. you have to use underscores instead of spaces when searching.

Noo they aren't custom, did you try the method at 03:00? Go to settings->manage resources and move 'Krita_3_Default_Resources' from Inactive Bundles over to Active Bundles. That should hopefully fix the issue! 😃 (let me know if this works for you!)

Krita has been one of my comfort painting programmes for a while, I just really adore the brushes. Something that I would find super helpful would be a sort of more in-depth video on digital colour picking, like picking colours that look nice, picking colours for shadows and for lighting, making all the colours work together, making it look somewhat realistic without the colours looking muddy, stuff like that. For some reason this is something I struggle with a lot digitally even when sticking to the basic 'rules', while I'm doing fine with it with traditional art.

@@shaunapurcell9436 you'll get used to it! i switched to krita after using medibang for a long time and i definitely prefer krita (imo) in the end its just a drawing program and there's no need to panic, but i do understand why you would panic. just do whatever you did when using firealpaca for the first time- mess around with the tools, the brushes, the settings, and you might find something that you like if you dont end up liking krita, just hit that uninstall button and use whatever drawing program you're comfortable with

Just so you know, changing the dpi will not speed up or slow down your drawing. The 300dpi only describes you how the image will be displayed, it doesn't change the pixel size in any way. So if you work on an image that's 3000 pixels wide at 300 dpi, then it will be exactly the same file size as 3000 pixels wide at 150dpi. It's just that the size will be reported as 10 inches for the former, and 20 inches for the latter. It won't speed up your computer in any way :)

Why would the DPI affect performance when you define the image size through X by X pixels? Does Krita do anything with that except define print size? It would of course be different if you defined 300 DPI for a, let's say, 10 x 10 inch drawing. THEN it increases the actual pixelcount. I just wanna know whether I miss anything here. New to Krita.

Everyone struggling to find her brushes in 2022: go to settings -> manage resource libraries -> click on krita_3_default and then activate. I spent way to long googling. Hope this helps :)

I'm new to Krita! The tempo of the presentation was great up until you started to color then it sped up. I've reduced the playback speed to where I could understand you, but it was still too fast. Hopefully you will consider noob's when your explaining techniques in the future. Thanks

Adobe stole my photoshop from me after i paid big Bucks for the creative suite they decided to have everyone go on their pathetic subscription cloud ripoff except for me Im not buying into that racket . Hello! So I’m a beginner digital artist! And I was just wondering, I do have a art tablet! It’s a Wacom tablet(I’m only borrowing it, it’s my sisters! Im in the process of buying my own! But I have a question, so my art table is this little black flat square, you have plug into your pc with a cord, and it also comes with a pen! So my question is: since I’m still new/trying to find my own digital art style(it’s been kinda hard so far, I’m literally starting digital art at the age of 21! 😭 so I didn’t start out as a young teenager sadly!) so I’m just trying to figure out the best way to get started with my digital art/art style! And I have both krita and fireaplaca, but I’m still not really sure how to like start drawing, since I have no experience whatsoever with digital art, so I was just wondering if you have any advice for me! I hope this made sense, if not I can try to explain it better lol!

Lovely tutorial! Krita will always be in close second for me to Paintstorm. Such a good art program with so much customisation fairly good performance. What do you prefer more at the moment, krita or procreate?

Thank you so much!! I'd say I definitely prefer Procreate but that's more because I prefer drawing on an iPad - everything feels so quick and streamlined! But when I'm drawing on my computer Krita and CSP are always my go-to options atm!! And oo I haven't tried Paintstorm before, I'll have to give that a go!! ^^

I'll save you all 16 minutes. You learn a few canvas hotkeys and her favorite brushes. The rest is just a sped up time lapse of her doing everything you'd want to learn about: the tools, layering, etc that's all going on.
