I'm in recovery (almost 7 years!) and seeing drinking on morning shows is unnerving and triggering. I can't even watch them. I so appreciate the empathy you both show for people in recovery. Not everyone understands how impactful something as small as wine on a talk show can be, and your ability to consider it from another's perspective is really awesome!
@JKat947 жыл бұрын
positivelypresent I'm honestly shocked that this exists. The US has such weird ass laws when it comes to drinking, in a lot of places you can't even get alcohol whenever you want. Meanwhile here in europe you can buy it wherever and whenever, some coutries have drinking problems but you'll NEVER see someone drinking on a morning talkshow. You don't even see a lot of people drink alcohol during the day or evening/night. Your country is really fucked. 😐
@IamMissPronounced7 жыл бұрын

Welcome to the internet, where you can get attacked for doing literally anything. Look, I don't think you're stupid. I just think that the phrase "whipped" is the most retarded bullshit phrase to ever exist and I hate it when I see people using it. Julien and Jenna have been dating for more than 3 years, they live together, they love each other, of course he's going to want to do nice things for her. Julien's not "whipped", he's just being a good boyfriend.
@modelacruz2647 жыл бұрын
Elijah Smith listen i get that you might not like the word whipped but it can be used for anybody and there's nothing with that. men can be "whipped", women can be "whipped", and so can everybody in between. plus it's a joke. i love how much julien loves jenna and how much she loves him too. their relationship is wonderful and i don't think either of them are better than the other or whatever. it was just a comment.

hahaha important to our generation?? HE ISN'T A REAL SCIENTIST. He literally just has a degree in mechanics, he has as much authority to say the stuff he does as I do. Doesn't mean he can't have an opinion, he just seriously has no real authority.
@soapdispenserempty7 жыл бұрын
Kelly Kawaguchi He was literally the Vice President of The Planetary Society for 5 years along with being the second Executive Director in 2010. He assisted in the creation of the Marsdial, invented a new form of Pointe Shoe that causes less stress and damage to the feet of ballerinas, and was a professor for 5 years at Cornell University which means he has a Doctorates. Also mechanical engineering is very broad, and takes an immense knowledge of science. So I believe he does have a level of authority about some of the things he says, and most probably more than you. He was very important to a generation of children because he was, well, the science guy. He taught not only me, but so many kids about the fundamentals of science.
@kellykawaguchi48087 жыл бұрын
Plenty of jobs and degrees involve science, does not mean they are scientists and are as credible as someone who actually studied something like doctoral science. Anyone can know things about science and many can make scientific claims but he does not have as much authority as others. Can you not agree to that? Since he did not actually get a degree in the science he loves to act (and it IS acting, you do know that right...?) like he has gotten a formal education in (like environmental science). I am most definitely not saying people can't be educated in these subjects and make valid claim. But I mean have you actually listened to him? Most of his claims aren't even based on fact or are incorrect.

I did not watch Katy Perry's live stream, but I did listen to the interview DeRay Mckesson did with her during her live stream for Pod Save the People, and it was really uncomfortable. If you aren't familiar with that podcast, it deals with social justice issues and frequently covers race politics, and the episode was supposed to be about facing yourself and your mistakes in relation to race. Katy treated it like a personal branding interview, went on and on about her musical inspirations complete with cutesy, off-topic anecdotes about her upbringing, and barely let DeRay speak when he tried to reel her back in. She talked over him and continuously interupted him and legit sounded some sort of not sober. She spoke almost exclusively in sound bytes and empty words, and said "hold space" 700 times, I'm pretty sure. When DeRay addressed the culturally appropriated elephant in the room, she responded by saying she made a mistake, but effectively 'here are all the reasons it's not my fault.' One of the most cringe inducing quotes was something like "my actions were wrong, my ego was wrong, but my intentions have always been so pure." She also used completely wrong but sort of similar- sounding words for other really simple words, like definition instead of difference: "what's the definition between appreciation of a culture and appropriation?" (She repeated this multiple times and used the wrong word every time). That's not a big deal I guess, but it's a pet peeve. I, like Julien, didn't have much of an opinion on her before, but the way she handled herself in this interview made me really not like her. She was rude, detached from reality, and seemed incredibly insincere 100% of the time, even when she started crying. (I think she was genuinely starting to cry, but in the way that people do when they feel they are being attacked, not for the reason she said. To be clear, she was not being attacked). I felt awful for DeRay, and also everybody should give Pod Save the People a listen because he is fantastic.

But I agree I think about it sometimes and get crushed. I would sob for these dogs and never have I met these 3 actual potatoes I couldn’t even imagine them. I know I love my dogs more than anything else on this planet and it will crush my whole being. Ugh I’m sad now

I hate orange juice with pulp, its just a texture thing for me. its gross, feels like im drinking spit up or something. the only time I'll tolerate bits in a drink is for a smoothie because you'd expect that. but even still like bits in a drink is ew.

If you're going to stay in the house even though all these leaks and stuff are happening, most landlords won't refuse if you offer to hire and pay for repairs to be done. Yeah it actually costs you that way, but you get to pick who fixes it and make sure the work gets done right. When it comes to a leak in your office, letting it continue could wind up costing you way more money than hiring and paying for repairs yourself. Just the fact that he won't have to pay for or do it himself is usually enough to convince them to give in. Look up your renters rights for your area. You may be able to do something about it without spending anything if he's not hiring licensed contractors or the repairs aren't being done properly or just saying certain things aren't his problem. My husband and I lived in an apartment that had a ceiling fan over the bed that was falling out of the ceiling so if you turned it on, it would spin AND swing around all over the place. It got to where we were scared it would fall on us while we were sleeping, even when it was off. That landlord told us someone who lived in the apartment before we did had installed that fan so it wasn't his responsibility to fix it. Being so young, we didn't think to look into renters rights in our area and wound up crawling up in the ceiling to fix the fan ourselves. A while later we went to our local courthouse and got pamphlets on renters rights, and sure enough, everything that was wrong with that place was the landlords responsibility. He didn't want to fix any of it, so we moved out. It's a really good idea to know your rights and what you can make him do to make your home stable and secure from the elements and electrical fires. If water is leaking from the 2nd floor of your house and going through the ceiling below and onto the floor, there's a huge risk that water is leaking between walls and possibly right down to outlets. Don't let that landlord jerk you around. You're renting a home that by law has standards for living conditions, and if you wanted you could have a city housing inspector come inspect your home and if THAT person thinks there are things putting you in danger, it'll be on the landlord to fix them to the city's standards and if he doesnt, the city will sue him for you. Sorry this is so long, but sometimes you're stuck in a situation and miss things around you that are easier to see from the outside. We went through a lot before learning what we are entitled to as renters and what landlords are required to do. It's easier to get things done if you do exactly what your renters rights say to, like sending a written complaint about leaks so there's records of you requesting repairs in case it gets heated and he wants to accuse you of breaking things on purpose or lie saying you never said anything was wrong.

I've noticed that about Katy Perry too. Ever since she got that big deal for American Idol, she seems extra bratty and greedy, constant comments about money, and seems to be her ONLY focus. I saw her be like that on the James Corden Carpool series too. But then again, I never saw her live before this either.

You guys should play a game where you are given the names of two random things and you have to explain why they are connected. For example, if Jenna drew a paper that said waterbottle a and julien drew one that said my big toe, you'd have to somehow draw a connection between the two like saying they are shaped the same way or you suck on both of them

I agree with you guys on the katy perry situation. I watched a blip of something from yesterday- her therapy session, which seemed kind of strange. I get it- everyone has issues, but it almost seemed like a 'my life is so hard watch me talk about how hard my life is' kind of thing. I could be wrong, and I am also someone who goes to therapy, but I'm not sure how this is a good option for her to promote her album. Livestreaming is cool, but this seems like a little much, even for Katy.
