This started when I first moved into my current house. I had two cats that were quite mischievous. My bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs that leads to my attic, and at the very top of the stairs is a half circle window. Every night I'd hear shifting upstairs and the moonlight from the window would shake as the cats ran by covering it. Eventually my kitties passed away (at the good age of 19 years). I cried all day but as I walked to my bedroom that night I saw the light of the half circle window shake, as if something had ran in front of it. I could hear faint shuffling beyond the steps. I've never had an overwhelming threatening feeling as I stood at the bottom of the stairs, but instead a feeling of peace and relief. Is this my kitties? I don't know. But I feel that it is a safe spirit that doesn't wish any harm.

Cermets War Flashbacks this happened with my kitty. Every night before he died, he’d jump up at the end of my bed want walk over to my face. For about a month or two after he died, I felt that multiple times a week at night. It started happening less and less over time, and I started feeling less emotional over it when it happened and accepted it and eventually would smile to myself when it happened. then last year it happened one more time and I remember suddenly being extremely overcome with grief and sadness and then it felt like thought “this is the last time, isn’t it?” was being forced into my head. I cried a lot shortly after then never felt it again. I used to feel his spirit and our connection when i looked at old pictures of him, but ever since that last time a year ago, I feel this sort of... thick foggy unbreakable glass emotional wall when I look at his pictures. I still love and miss him, but looking at him feels like something is extremely void now. I think now that that last time was quite literally the last time his spirit “energy” or whatever it was existed :( Tl;dr, I definitely believe animals can have ghosts and believe you!!!

Jenna is 100% accurate in her description of living in a place that is haunted. I lived in an old brick house in rural Kentucky that my ex and I were positive was haunted. The first night, I left to go pick up a pizza and came home to my ex who said he had an uneasy feeling that he wasn't alone the whole time I was gone. I wrote it off as him being overdramatic . While he was gone at work, I'd play music on my Bluetooth speaker, and I thought I was going crazy cuz I thought I could hear voices talking behind my music. As if it were radio interference or something. I'd put my ear up to it or turn it down trying to figure it out, but I just felt like I was being paranoid. Certain areas of the house felt off, and I always felt like I was being watched or someone was there with me. One day I was sitting in the living room on the recliner reading a book. All of a sudden the smell of rotten eggs seemed to waft passed me out of no where. I opened up the windows to smell if it was something coming from outside, but nothing. I had just taken the trash out, and there was no bad smell coming from or in the kitchen. I was confused, and kind of creeped out but I sat back down. Then a loud bang came from another room. I had no idea what it was and sat there with my mouth hanging open in fear. I even complained to the empty house that now I had to go figure out what that was and I was freaked TF out. Every room seemed in place except for the damn back room. That was one of the rooms that gave me the creeps. The pantry closet was back there, the door was swung open w the light turned on (we always closed and turned the light off if we weren't in the pantry) and a wire rack that had been on the back of the door was on the floor. I freaked out. Put my jacket on and left the house. Later on we tried to see how easy it would be for the rack to fall off on its own, and it was impossible without someone physically pulling it off... My ex also said he saw shadows move and heard something whisper his name. We moved out after only three months mostly because the job market sucked down there, but I'm glad because I living in that house scared me lol.

The alternate dimension theory; the ghost you're seeing is actually a glimpse of an existing person in an alternate dimension while they're simultaneously perceiving you as such as well, makes it really interesting to apply to the story of the boy and his bed. This theory is consuming me and I'm all about it.

OH MY GOD!!! I had a so called "imaginary friend" when I was like around 3-5 that I swear on my life that I could see!!! It was a little girl around 4-5 years old that had brown hair and always wore it in two braids and had these almost white eyes. I lived by a lake and it was said that a little girl drowned in a lake in like 1950 something. The fact that I swear I could see her and we had physical contact but no one else could see her, then one day she just disappeared. The craziest part is her name was Justine, and the girl who died her name was Justine!! Could all kids imaginary friends not be imaginary at all? Could they be ghosts? I was talking to a ghost for like 5 years of my life!!! Now it makes sense the fact I saw her and so vividly remember everything about her appearance is crazy. And I am convinced that Justine has followed me because weird things happen all the time, nothing too scary but just things that can't be explained like things moving around always feeling watched lights flickering etc. One time I did a OUIJI board and the spirit I contacted was a little girl named Justine and get this she drowned in a lake. my theory is that Justine never disappeared in the literal sense at all my brain just matured and I now can't see her but she is still her, I feel her presence and how else could I explain all the weird stuff that happens in my life. I have one answer its Justine I'm sure of it. Does anyone else have these experiences? I hope so, because I feel crazy saying this.

Grace Martin I know this is a year old but hopefully you see this. Children are naive. They’re more open to paranormal energy such as ghosts bc they’re not aware that they have to be guarded. I 100% believe in ghosts. Im very sensitive and empathetic. Im like a beginner psychic as well. I haven’t tuned my abilities at all I’ve just had these abilities since I was little. I can easily tell when people are lying. I can tell how people really feel. I’ve had deja vu dreams since I was in middle school. Anyway lol, children are the most open to ghosts. Adults are super guarded so we have a harder time seeing them. And to see an apparition is super rare and there’s a lot of energy in that area. Normally they’re balls of light or shadows

Grace Martin to be honest I would speak to her. I know it might sound weird but you can tell her to stop and ask her if she’s willing to talk to you or get you attention in a different way. Like try and ask her to write. Just like Jenna said with the boy. Leave a crayon and paper. Ask her to draw a picture, see if she’s still your friend. But tell her you won’t always give her your attention.

Why is everyone saying that Jenna's story was sleep paralysis?? It was clearly not. In order to experience sleep paralysis you have to fall asleep first. Then you have a nightmare and you can't get out of it for some time, 'cause your whole body is tense and you can't move. But Jenna never felt asleep before seeing the cross. She literally said that, she thought her friend was sleeping but she didn't fall asleep at all before seeing the cross or feeling the bed sink down And also her friend saw the cross too

problem there is I for example was on an antidepressant at one point that gave me sleep paralysis along with some other unsettling symptoms (i personally don't recommend viibryd, seen a lot of people fucked up by it lmao). I had one experience that was a form of sleep paralysis in the end but it started in this weird sort of half asleep-half awake state where i felt conscious but i had forms of hallucinations and didn't realize when i fully fell asleep because i started out in this strange middle state so hers could be explained with something like that, hence why she could have still seen something actually there, but i'm not discrediting either, just a possibility. So others suggesting sleep paralysis may not be completely wrong but it's something else that may sometimes go in hand with it.

well i’ve definitely had sleep paralysis when i thought i wasn’t sleeping, i could swear that i was awake the entire time then all the sudden i can’t move and am seeing a shadow standing in the corner of my room. so i think that’s its possible that even tho she swears she was awake it still could be sleep paralysis, ive read other people’s accounts too saying they don’t remember even falling asleep.

alright yall, story time. when I was real little I had my first paranormal experience. long story short, I was scared of the dark so I would sleep with my closet light on at night. I remember being awake and watching the light just suddenly either go out or burn out whatever and right as it went off I saw a GIANT man in a top hat standing in the corner of the closet door (the wall right next to that was my window, so he was almost standing behind my sheer curtains). obviously I started screaming and my parents rush in, turn the light on and he was gone. I never slept in that room again. that was about 10 years ago & whenever I brought it up my parents would ALWAYS say "no it was a dream, blah blah blah." a few months ago my mom came to me and brought up this experience and flat out told me she saw the man before she flipped on the lights. SHE HAD ME THINKING I WAS INSANE FOR 10 YEARS. we went to a psychic & found out basically I have an energy that paranormal beings are attracted to and I am incredibly sensitive to anything from the ghost world. ive had a world of experiences since but this one still doesn't sit right with me (also, I sleep with my closet door SHUT now).

My only experience was this one time when I was a kid, I had this big poster of some singer on the other side of my room and when I lay on my side I would stare directly at it. This one night, I couldn't sleep and I turned on my side, and I couldn't see half the poster because there was a black thing in the shape of a person in front of it, and it moved toward me. The only thing I could do was squeeze my eyes shut and after a while I was able to move my blanket over my ears so I'd be safe (that's how it works). Nothing else happened but I distinctly remember the shape and somehow knowing it was a woman that did not have good intentions.

Oh I just remembered, I used to sleep in the attic and we'd have these small doors in the wall that are like storage. The locks were painted over so they were really hard to open because they were like sticky due to the paint, and this one night I woke up and literally 3 seconds later one of the little doors fell out of the wall. Obviously I now always put furniture up against these doors.

my dad died a few years back from lung cancer & occasionally i'll smell cigarettes and then feel his presence and i'll see a glowing shape on the other side of my room (if uve seen spirits u know what kinda glow i'm talking about, kinda like the glowing cross jenna talked abt i'd imagine), he'll stay in my room for a while, just hanging out, but when i've had enough and it starts making me uncomfortable i ask him to leave and he does. my mom's had some experiences w him too, one time she said something on the phone to someone about him and he knocked over a glass onto the floor and it shattered, she got so pissed off at him & yelled at him to leave (haha just like my childhood ha) and she says she feels him a lot when she's upset or when she hears songs that he liked & like he's never been to my house bc my mom and i moved to another state way b4 he died, he's very obviously connected to me, he's been present when I'm at other peoples houses and when i'm in public, it's p neat & when i tell other people "my father is here" it freaks them out lmao

also, i have 7 older siblings (different father) and before i was born they lived in salisbury, ma in this like massive 150 year old victorian house and my mom would have like art classes in the studio or something, and there was this old (ghost) man who would sit in one of the hallways on the way to the studio and all of her students would pass by him and p much everyone would see this like faint green glow just like, hanging out. apparently he didn't do much, he would occasionally sit in different places but he was extremely passive and just wanted to chill in his house and when I was little we lived in manchester in a kinda old victorian house and i would see shit all the time, i would like see things in my bedroom and in the attic and by the front door, seeing these apparitions doesn't scare me anymore, unless there's like this very obvious negative energy present (one of my friends that i used to do ghost shit w when i was younger, her house is haunted as FUCk w negative spirits shit boy) thats like the only time i experience that like paralyzing fear

also my best friend has always had an almost inconceivable ability to interact with spirits. when we were really small one night she saw an older woman across the room who smiled at her and rewound her music box for her. she recounted this to her mom the next day and her mother, having a similar ability, had the idea to go through photo albums. upon finding a picture of her DEAD great grandma my friend became ecstatic because it was the lady in her room. for years after that the apparition would occasionally "visit" and interact.

I have so many ghost stories. I will share a few short ones here. I have been considered a 'sensitive' since as long as I can remember. We first realised this when I was maybe about 3 or 4. Whenever we would visit my grandmother in upstate New York (they had a very old farm that had been in the family for many generations), I would constantly ask my mom if I could play with the girl in the window. Every single time we'd go outside, I'd point to the upstairs window and ask my mom to invite the girl out. No one knew who I was talking about. As I got older, visiting my grandmother turned from asking about a little girl, to cry about an older man. One time in particular, I was about 7, I was playing in the attic by myself while my family was outside and as I walked by the stairs to go to another room, a strong push came at my side and I tumbled down the stairs. As I looked up to see what had pushed me, a giant man (about 7ft tall) stood hunched over the stairs, smiling at me. To this day, I still won't go up in the attic and I haven't since. But I still see the girl in the window and the tall man hunching over the stairs, sometimes for only a few seconds, others - for hours. Another good story I have is the last time I visited home, about a few years ago. We were stayed at my family's farm in the Philippines and it was about lunch time and we heard a bunch of yelling outside. We all ran to see what was happening and one of my aunts was doing some weird contortionist back bend that shouldn't have been possible while growling at my cousins. We had to immediately strap her down and grab our local priest/witchdoctor of sorts. They ushered all of us away, but I can distinctly remember as we were being rushed away the way her eyes rolled back in her head and the way her voice was about two octaves deeper than normal, screaming in Latin (I'm about 80% certain it was Latin. My grade school Latin education makes me pretty sure). A few days later we were allowed to see her and she says she doesn't remember anything but darkness. That same Philippines trip, my cousin was behaving rather strangely. She was moody and rude (absolutely out of character) and always complaining about headaches. She hardly slept that whole trip and she was mutter a lot to herself. It wasn't until later on it kinda clicked and we believed she was oppressed (a few steps before a full blown possession). As we left the Philippines, halfway over the ocean, she just snapped back into her bright and bubbly self, not really knowing what happened. What we believe were demonic possessions/oppressions were probably the most terrifying things that I have ever witnessed in my life. With my aunt, I have never heard such awful and inhuman sounds come from a person, and with my cousin, I have never seen someone's personality switch so rapidly.

As soon as we asked if any spirits were present a HUGE spider showed up out of no where. That didnt stop us though. Throughout the usage of the board, we saw 3 gigantic spiders. Ever since then ghosts wont leave me alone. They follow me everywhere and even my friends say i sometimes bring ghosts with me to their house. Me and my sister have both heard footsteps in the hallway and down the stairs in the middle of the night that COULD NOT have been caused by my family. Also, almost every night there will be a lot of commotion in my dad’s office, like things falling off the shelves etc. One night I even heard someone walk into his office, knock something over, and then leave. I asked my dad and, of course, he didnt walk into his office at 3 am. Also, the sink and bathtub in my bathroom. My room is right next to the bathroom and it sometimes sounds like a shampoo bottle or something is forcefully thrown into the bathtub. I was also feeding the cats in the laundry room because they’re messy eaters. The door closed behind me and a few seconds later the lights shut off. It wasn’t like a light malfunction, like the actual switch was down, so someone had turned off the light, and I was far away from the switch. I told my superstitious friend and she gave me a crystal which is supposed to help keep spirits away, and any time I put it on my nightstand, it will fall off or end up somewhere completely different. Also doors randomly open and close occasionally. The creepiest part, I have nightmares and so does my sister. She dreams of a figure coming towards her, chasing her, and I have the same dream. I was also going to the bathroom pretty late at night, and my dog followed me and sat outside the door (he's a sheepdog so he likes to follow me around) and he was looking directly at something. I then heard breathing, really loud breathing that sounded female (dont ask me how breathing has a gender it just sounded female) and then I heard footsteps coming closer and closer to the bathroom. I noped out of there and ran like hell to my room. I recently moved houses and the SAME EXACT THING happened in my new house. I've tried everything, even burning the board and they just wont leave me alone. My sister has also said she's seen ghosts behind me, and in front of my door and etc. And I'll hear snoring coming from her room even if shes not home. idk it's fucked guys please help lmao.

equinebrainiac I'm not sure if you're religious or not, but I was raised Catholic and as far as I remember, in ouija-board-related cases the only way to "fix things" is with the help of a priest. They have the "power" to "close the doors" that were opened when you played with the board. I mean, I don't practice the religion anymore but this aspect truly scared me while growing up so I don't mess with that shit lol. Go to any church and talk with any priest about these incidents, they'll surely have an idea on what to do.

I think I saw a demon once when I was 8 and have had several experiences involving what I believe to be demons since then. I was being a brat one day and threw a tantrum so my mom sent me to my room and I was curled up under my sheets (still being a brat) and I had the sudden feeling a person was standing over me, i thought it was my mom so I pulled off the cover to see what she wanted and it was NOT my mom. It was a person ( I use that term lightly) that looked like a burn victim, their face was so beat up i couldn't see any recognizable features besides it's eyes. It's eyes were straight up red. I was so shocked I couldn't move but I could feel it breathing on me so I started screaming and it ran (not really ran more like just fucking appeared at the other side of my room). I was screaming bloody murder so hard my voice was gone for a whole day after. My mom came running and as soon as my doorknob turned the thing disappeared and my mom said my face was completely white and I was

Literally shaking in terror. I explained what I saw to my mom and she started crying because she thought I was going insane. The presence that thing brought was so heavy and so dark for months after I thought I was being followed and watched (mind you I was 8). And another time I was twelve or thirteen and I was sleeping in my room (which was a new room, I made my brother switch with me after that experience) and I woke up in the middle of the night with a pain in my side so I got up and turned the lights on and saw it was bloody and I screamed and ran to get my mom. My mom saw it and saw the small pool of blood on my bed and thought I got my period and she tried explaining what she thought was going on until I pulled up my shirt and showed her the cut on my side. She thought I did it to myself and asked me if I tried to hurt myself and i was telling her I didn't do it and she didn't believe me until she cleaned it off and saw that it was three separate marks that looked like claw mar

+laura g ks. We searched my bed to try and find something that could've scratched me and we couldn't find a single thing. I didn't do it to myself either because my nails were non existent because I played violin. I still have a scar from the scratch on my side. And FINALLY when I was maybe 9 or 10 I went to bed and had a nightmare that was so vivid and clear I haven't forgotten one detail to this day 6 years later. So here's how it went: I was blindfolded and all I could feel was searing pains in my arms and thighs and a smell like cooking chicken. It didn't take long for me to realize that in my dream i was being burned over and over again. Then my blindfold was removed and i saw people in robes with symbols that I didn't recognize walking in circles around me. One of them started talking in a language I didn't know, I had no idea what he was saying (how would my mind make up a language and have no idea what it meant????) but they stopped walking and turned to me and started to put

I'm not sure if this is a ghost story or not but during the summer I would stay up pretty late and one night I was walking into the kitchen and I saw three triangles just floating right above the oven. (All the lights are off) and blank my eyes to make sure I'm not dreaming and it was still there. I knew the time was 3:30 cause it said it on the oven. And I was standing there memorized by theses triangle things. The last thing I remembered was a really bright flash of light then me waking up in the middle of my room standing. And I looked at my phone right when I "woke up" and the time was 4:30. The same thing happened 3 nights in a row all at 3:30! Then a week later I was at my friends house and she had her window open and I saw the triangles again! She saw them too and it was exactly 3:30 and we both saw a bright light and we "woke up" standing out side about 100 yards from her house. Like was that alien stuff or ghost?! I'm still freaked out by it now and I refuse to stay up past 3 now

As a small child, between 3-5, we lived on a reservation. I vaguely remember this but my mom told me most of it. Well I guess I woke her up screaming for her because there were "glowy pocahontas' around my bed". I remember that, I remember seeing the glowing translucent Native American looking men and women watching me sleep. At least 5 of them. That's the only time I have ever seen anything that I know of though. I have felt energy like you did in the apartment though, Jenna. It felt like I couldn't breathe and I just needed to get out of there. One time I started crying it was so heavy on my chest. Crazy stuff.

The theory about ghosts being a projection of oneself is interesting to me. I agree with Jenna that this can't be the whole story or different people wouldn't see the same entity over and over. However, I believe that people can give off energy through emotion. This is why you hear about certain high-energy places like schools, churches, and theatres being very haunted. I think that when people dispel large amounts of emotional energy over and over in a particular place, they can leave a mark on the area, metaphysically speaking. So maybe those emotions strengthen the spirits that exist there anyway? Or maybe "ghosts" are just manifestations of built up energy, and the type of energy dispelled lends itself to the personality of the entity. A school with a lot of children might take on a playful spirit. A hospital might take on a grieving or angry spirit. Who knows?

I have a really close friend who passed away a month ago (as of today, actually). It was a devastating car accident in which many people were drinking & that’s what is believed to have caused them to wreck. I grew up in church with him & his family, & we are all very religious. I’ve had many “ghost” experiences myself (though I usually refer to them as spirits) but I know many people who refuse to entertain the idea at all. Anyway, I’ve always heard stories about people finding dimes, pennies, or even glitter after a loved one has passed just as a sign that this person is ok. About a week after his passing, his grandparents found large flaky gold & silver glitter scattered all over their back patio. They had never seen it before, don’t own anything with this type of glitter (or any), & it wouldn’t come off. We were all shocked. About two weeks later, my mom was decorating our porch for fall & had already swept the porch off several times. Once she was finished cutting the grass & putting up other decorations, she decided to sweep it off one last time. She, too, found large flaky glitter stuck to the porch that had not been there just an hour or so before. Due to the nature of his passing, everyone was distraught over the idea that he could be spending eternity in a terrible place. We all take this strange glitter as a sign that he is ok & we will see him again one day. It has brought a lot of peace & comfort to his friends & family. This story isn’t very “ghostly” but I still thought I’d share :)

I'm totally in sync with kids seeing ghosts too. Since being like 10+ I've had nothing but as a kid I remember my best friend would tell me a child would come and play with her at night and like for whatever reason it didn't freak me out because I guess I understood, then one night I was sleeping on a trundle bed at her house and I looked up while it was pitch black and could see this slightly illuminated boy swinging his legs sitting on the edge of her bed and I couldn't do or say anything but move my eyes and I saw my friend was still asleep but she started smiling and giggling like kids do when they're playing in a field or something - so I think the ghost was playing with her in her dreams or something?? And I had TERRIBLE anxiety as a child so from like age 7-9 I slept in my parents room and five or six times I remember waking up so suddenly in the night and looking up over their bed to the walk trough wardrobe that had all mirror doors (so I could see easily) and there being a mother breastfeeding her child, she was completely dark grey with like a tiny rainbow grainy aura - like old tv fuzziness type of thing idk how to explain and I would just watch her until she became aware of me and would quickly turn her head and I would always quickly squeeze my eyes shut so we wouldn't make eye contact

Other people would see a little boy with long black hair when the daycare was there but the day care never had anyone missing. I took care of a women who was dying and she said she felt hell's fire burning her legs and cursed at god because he turned his back on her. Well after she died I went to get her old roommate up and I was on the 3rd floor, her solid white and blood red eyes were staring at me from the corner of the window. I couldn't even move for a minute. I hurried and got her roommate up and got the hell out of there.

My mom tells me that the first night I was home (I was in NICU for 2 wks) she woke up in the middle of the night and saw her grandma standing over my crib, then she turned to my mom and said “she’s beautiful” and vanished. This is the closest thing I have to a ghost story and the closest I got to meeting my great grandma.

One time I was with my family on vacation. I was sharing a room with my younger brother. The room was white with one single painting. The bunk bed that was in there was cute. That night I looked at the painting in the dark bc I woke up sweating and terrified. I felt freezing. I gazed up at the painting and instead of the original two people there were 3. I felt someone in my bed and when I rolled over to see if it was anyone. No one was there and I saw the indentation. I freaked I rolled back over and closed my eyes wishing for it to go away. I looked at the painting the next morning and there were 2 people again. I walked up the stairs to the living area. There was a person there for a split second. I quickly walked up and went straight into the kitchen and started to make a lot of noise so people would wake up and not be alone. I was terrified

so heres my ghost story when i was about 3-4 me and my sister would always have hot chocolate with our imaginary friends. every. single. day. now im the youngest and i usually see the ghosts or feel them. i guess im more sensitive to that type of stuff. well we missed a day and i guess we forgot. we had NEVER forgotten before and i guess the "imaginary friends" got mad. the next day we woke up and me and my sister went down stair to have some hot chocolate with our friends. but when we went downstairs all the chairs were flipped upside down, the table was flipped, the plates were shattered. everything was destroyed. we got our mom and she started looking around thinking that someone might or broke in. the alarm was set. all windows were closed. NO way to get in. well because i sense all of that ghost stuff i looked around because I felt a pinch. two VERY mad men were standing there. but they were NOT human. demonic and terrifying vibes came from them and they kept almost yelling my name my sister heard it to but my mom didnt hear it. they said if they found us they would skin us? I never had hot chocolate again.

I lived in a house that is known for being haunted in my town from the time I was born until I was around 8 years old and I've had a number of spooky experiences, but the scariest experience I've had was just before we moved out, I was lay in bed on my back and I see a woman with her face very close to mine, but I feel completely calm. I heard her say 'don't scream' and when I stayed quiet she said 'good girl' and dissapeared. I have no idea if this was sleep paralysis or an actual ghost but it was pretty freaky. I was also told that as a baby in this same house I was in my nans arms and started kicking and giggling like someone was tickling my feet, but obviously noone was. My mum also told me that she had a friend who was sat crying and staring at the corner of the room and when she asked her what was wrong, she said that there was an old man behind a shop counter staring at her. She did a bit of research and found out that the house used to be a shop that an old man owned and he died in the shop. O_O The worst thing is that after we moved out, everyone who has moved into that house after us has moved out after a few months, supposedly because of the ghosts.

I never denied spirits existing, but it was only in July of 2018 when I went from skeptic to full believer. Before that, ever since I've lived at my dad's I've seen and felt things I couldn't explain. My house is built near an old Native American encampment (my grandma's house actually sits on top of it), and there are a couple graves on my property. I had pretty much accepted that there are spirits in my house even while not being too big on stuff like that. However, in July of 2018 I was staying in a little town in Montana a few miles south of the Canadian border. The house we had rented for two days had nothing right about it. It was half completed, everything was backwards, and the only things with a date were from 2008. The first night was fine, but the second night terrified me. I was going to take a bath before bed, but the bathroom I wanted to use was occupied, so I had to use the one in my dad's room (which gave me an uneasy feeling even without really believing in ghosts at the moment). As I got out and was getting dressed, the doorknob started jiggling pretty intensely. I finished up quickly and immediately swung the door open. My dad was laying calmly in bed awake across the room, which sent alarm bells off in my head. That night was so loud. I kept seeing shadows, and there was a strong presence that wouldn't leave me. The wind howled relentlessly outside. It was absolutely horrible. I couldn't be happier to leave the next day and get out of that house, away from whatever that was. The shadows and presence could've been my mind exaggerating after the doorknob thing, but it was so, so real. It may seem like nothing, but it was my first paranormal experience so to me it was really big. Since then I've had more experiences around home, and I have my own beliefs for why spirits have at last decided to make themselves known to me. I had a really terrifying one a few days ago, actually, but this is long already so I won't go into it.

When I was younger I had my own room where my crib was. My great grandfather had passed before I was born. My mom would often hear me talking and she would com in and I would be standing looking over the edge of my crib and to her I was looking at nothing. She would ask me who I was talking to and I would simply reply "grandpa" everyone in my family has always believed my great grandpa was always there to watch out for me, which I especially believed when I was in a car accident in the 8th grade that should have killed me. We believe my grandparents still stick around our house as well. My grandpa owned our house the house next door to us and the house behind us that shared our property line. When I was 1 year old my parents lived in the house next door to where we currently live because my grandma lived in our current house but before her my great grandparents lived there (the one I would talk to as a baby). My great grandmother has passed in her sleep in what was later my sisters room and my great grandfather passed out back near the garage he had a heart attack ). Late at night you can hear my great grandparents moving plates or bowls in our kitchen and you can sometimes see their shadows. It never felt scary to me just felt like they were watching over us and our house. When I was in elementary school I would always see shadows following people. They were just lack masses that would follow behind people wherever they went. Lunch, play ground, whatever. It made me feel like that was someones family member just hanging out with them. never felt threatening or scary just comforting and welcoming. I no longer see ghosts but I do believe they are real and I believe that they are often times spirits of family or loved ones who have passed before protecting over us and watching over us while we live in this lifetime. I also believe that spirits that had something bad happen to them in the lifetime they existed can be "trapped" here until they find a way to leave whether it be protecting someone from the same thing happening to them or finding their killer etc.

When I was little, like 4 or 5 years old, I woke up in the middle of the night to see two adult figures standing in my doorway. They were transparent, but warped the objects behind them, so you could see the shape of them. Even though I couldn't see any of their smaller features, I felt like they were staring straight at me. I was lying on my side, frozen for some time, until I called out to my mum. I kept shouting, but she didn't hear me, so I got up out of bed as fast as I could, plunged straight through the ghosts and ran down the hall to my parents' room in a frightened hurry. I woke my mum up and told her that there were two ghosts in my doorway and that I was scared. I've always wondered if it was just a dream, but I don't feel like it was, as I remember standing up and looking at them and then running to my mum, who remembers me waking her up to tell her this story. Soon after this incident, these two ghosts became common occurrences in my dreams, taking me on late night rides around suburbia in our old car, and chasing me around the city, trying to put blue lights in my ears (?). The feeling in the dreams was always very strange and unnerving. They were most always silent, apart from the faint sound of tv static that also invaded my vision. I didn't exactly feel in danger during these dreams, but more alone and unsure. I felt like I had no control. I haven't seen these ghosts in a long time, but i'd kind of like to. I think maybe I wouldn't be so scared now and I might be able to see what they wanted in the first place. Anyway that was long oops... thanks for reading :)

Not necessarily a ghost story, but shows that there are so many things we dont understand yet. My husband gets "feelings" of something being wrong, it only happens with those that are closest to him. Family, me, a couple friends and is always something big. It doesnt happen often and the biggest one was 4th of July around 3 am a couple years ago. He woke up, woke me up and started calling everyone in his family to find out what happened. His step brother had killed himself in front of his brother. Another time was when I had a miscarriage, he was working out of state, I wasn't very far along, 6 weeks. He called me early in the morning saying he felt that I was hurt or in trouble, I got out of bed and the second I stood up I started cramping and bleeding. His mom also has some crazy stories of things happening like this, like when we first got together he didnt tell her he was seeing anyone. One night we were being intimate and we both had this feeling of intense love for each other, I cant even explain how it felt. At that moment, the lights turned on. We were the only ones there, the switch was still in the off position, but the light was on. The next day his mom called him saying she woke up in the middle of the night feeling like he had found happiness and she didnt have to worry about him. It isnt explainable and honestly if I hadn't been there I wouldn't believe it.

Something similar happens to me. Like I’ll bring thinking about something bad or something, and something around that happens. When I realized I did things like that was when I was feeling depressed/suicidal and a few hours after that I heard about a man in Oregon who stole a plane, crashed it, and killed himself. It happened the same time I felt depressed, I didn’t find out until a few hours later. Most recently, I found myself thinking about Cameron Boyce a day or two later, he’s found dead. I never think anything bad is going to happen, I just think about something similar to that

This could possibly be a really touchy subject, but my dad and I were watching a movie one day in theaters, and I looked at him and said “we’re gonna get shot” now obviously, he freaked out and asked what was going on to make me think that, and I told him that I saw “visions” (I hate calling them that) of people running and hiding and diving over their loved ones to save them. He calmed me down and we watched the rest of the movie, and when we got home my mom said “there was just a mass shooting in ____” I’m not going to say what shooting it was, or where it was, because then it becomes personal to a lot of people and I don’t want to be insensitive about it, but I will say that it was far before the recent mass shootings. This shooting happened over 1,000 miles away from where I was living at the time, and there was no way for me to know anything that was going on at the same time as I was talking to my dad.

I get weird dreams like premonitions. For a week I was having dreams about a plane crashing, but I was never on them I was just nearby where it crashed and I had to go help and see the dead/injured people. I was telling my psychiatrist and she said maybe it was my pills screwing with my dreams so I changed it up and the night I didn’t have a dream a plane crashed at an airport an hour away from my house. I still get really nervous when I see a plane go by.

My friends dad passed away when we were around 12. He coached us in softball and our dads were best friends. About a year later her brother had a daughter who is now 5 years old. About a year ago she had this imaginary friend who liked looking at all of my friends stuff ( writings, papers, trophies, pictures) so her niece would take stuff into her moms bed room Her mom would ask what she was song and she would reply “ Jackson wants to see what Hannah is up to” her mom then asked if Jackson was young like her and she replied “no he’s old like you” when her mom asked what he looked like her niece pointed at a picture of Hannah’s dad with all of Hannah’s stuff laying around the picture. Her mom instantly started crying because she knew how much her husband would have loved his grand daughter. A couple months later my friends Hannah went away to college, all of a sudden her niece stopped talking about her imaginary friend. Her mom asked her one day how Jackson was and she replied “ he’s good he’s in Pittsburgh” ( which is where Hannah went to college) When Hannah would come home for winter break or weekends her niece would start talking about Jackson again and when she would go back to school she wouldn’t talk about him.

I have schizophrenia and I see things sometimes, and I was explaining it to my friend once to which they just said, "What if it's not in your head and you're actually seeing things from other dimensions?" So, I don't know, it'd be an interesting theory that people that are deemed "crazy" are just experiencing other worlds and can't explain how. or it really is just their brain. either or.

See, I think the mentally ill are just massive receptors for the paranormal as the mind is cracked wide open and on high alert. Then again, my favourite saying is that the beauty of paranoia is that if you look hard enough you can always find it. So you could also say that someone is looking for it especially with schizophrenia as people usually feel like they are chosen or have magic powers. I don't know, but I really think your comment is incredibly thought-provoking.

I explored this in one of the stories I wrote a while back. There was a character who had anxiety, but (this is a fanfic that's happening in Halloween Town, by the way, so there's magic and stuff) his mother suggested that his anxiety might be premonitions about bad things that would actually happen, maybe to people he didn't know, maybe somewhere else, where he can't prevent it or even see it happen, but he feels it, and it manifests in unsubstantiated worry. And maybe some people with mental illness are perceptive and some aren't, and there's no way to tell which is which. But I do often think it's possible that hallucinations caused by mental illness might just be things from another universe. And in a way, it still means your brain is broken, in the sense that it's picking up on things it's not supposed to, but it might not be random, it might just exist elsewhere.

I have schizophrenia too and seeing things makes me think is this real or is this some random thing in my head? I'd love to just be seeing things from a different world or dimension and if I hear things it's from a different reality! It'd make me feel a lot better T_T

I had something kind of similar happen to me. My grandmom died when I was nine years old and on the night she died I slept in my parents room because I was so upset (I had been so close with my grandmom). I remember I was lying on my back when I felt a hard press on my cheek, like a finger poking me in the face (hard enough that I knew it was real, not something I dreamed or imagined). Weirdly, I remember not being able to sit up or even open my eyes as it was happening (it lasted about one or two seconds, though it felt much longer). After it stopped, I sat up in the bed and looked around the room. Both of my parents were asleep and the door was shut, so it couldn't have been my cat. The thing I remember most though is that I wasn't that scared, just confused. I've also never had another experience like this one, so that's why I think it was my grandmom.

Nothing to do with ghosts but along the line to being starred at. One night, I was sleeping and probably like 5am I woke up but kept my eye shut because I woke up with the feeling of being stared at. My heart was racing really fast because I knew that if I opened my eyes, I would see something like a ghost or person staring at me, so I decided to and I opened my eyes and my dog was there, dead staring me in the face like "beech wake up, I gotta pee" I jumped when I saw him and he then got excited to see me awake. My grandpa always liked to have the pillows on the couch facing down rather than sitting upright. My grandma liked them the other way. He would always move them down and her back up and so on and so on. Our whole family picked sides on the pillow up vs. pillow down battle, I also liked them down and helped my grandpa whenever he saw they were up. When he passed my grandma went to put the pillows upright before she went to sleep that night and when she woke up the pillows were down again. She kept doing it and they kept falling down again until about a year ago she stopped putting the pillows up anymore. Whenever I’m over I still put the pillows back up and they always fall down before I leave. I think it's kind of cool that he still want to let us know he's there and hanging out but he does it in a way that still makes us all smile and laugh thinking of fun times we had with him rather than a scary way.

i moved away to college in sept 2012 and my dad passed away oct 2012 from an accident. i was his little girl, his only child. i know he loved me beyond barriers. when i go home on college breaks, i of course stay in my old room. my dad would always come in my room before going to bed, tuck me in and kiss me goodnight. and every night when i'm there, without exception, i feel the faintest tug on my sheets, a soft breeze on my cheek and some times, i swear to god i can hear him say "sleep with the angels, baby" as he'd always do. it's nice to think maybe he's still around somehow.

Ana Catarina that's beautiful, I lost my mom in 2012 when I was a senior in high school. I wish I would have experiences like this, you are very lucky. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ana Catarina He is definitely with you :) next time it happens to you, acknowledge him out loud, try saying something you would have said to him after he tucked you in. And add in an "I love you" as well :) no matter when you choose to speak to your dad, he will hear you. He may not always be able to reply, but you will feel a rush of comfort and warmth, or cold, when he is near. Definitely try it next time, I've done it with my grandma, and God before. Except with God, it's a comfortable warmth and tingling-safe feeling all over you. You also feel like your slightly floating, but with your physical body, not astrally. I've only had this experience once, and it was during a very hard time in my life. You could try asking God for comfort and see if you feel anything, do it with your eyes closed and my mind clear and open.

trixie tang aw, that’s really sweet. i don’t get why people sometimes think ghost are bad things because most of the time when i hear people’s stories they’re almost always positive and i love that. i think it’s nice to be able to connect with somebody you lost :) 💗

How Jenna explains that Ouija situations are dangerous kinda sounds like how online chatrooms are described as dangerous. Like Ouija boards are the shady chatrooms of the spiritworld

As a witch I can confirm. Literally the worst form of divination you can use because they are so random, and anything can pretend to be anything so if you’re not experienced or focused it can be very dangerous.

from what I've understood there's two main types of ghost hauntings. There's intelligent hauntings and then there's residual hauntings. Intelligent hauntings are the first theory you guys were talking about where its a real person's spirit and they are actively and intelligently interacting with living people. Like the little boy and the bed story. Residual hauntings are like the second theory you guys were talking about where the energy of certain events still lingers in an area. So like hearing a typewriter where a writer used to live, or a scream where someone was murdered. They aren't in response to anyone else they just happen.

When we were kids my cousin had come over. He went to the rr while everyone was outside. He came out and thanked my dad for handing him the toilet paper roll through the door. I guess he needed some toilet paper. My dad told him that he hadn't handed him any paper. To this day we don't know who handed him the paper. No one was in the house but him. #helpfulghosts
