Couldn’t agree more. Our winters are very long in northern NY and Spring is so welcome when it arrives but often we have 2-3 weeks of Spring and then instant summer. So we learn to love our winters and I keep cedar and juniper faux greenery up from Christmas for a few more months. Add in candles, vintage and wood for the cozy feel.

I find myself drawn to the plants that you could use now as they are basically house plants. It's too early for lilacs for me but Studio McGee came out with some nice ferns. I'm mixing those plants with other vases that contain evergreen branches as I do a "winter" theme. I'm in Wisconsin, and we won't be seeing Spring until April!

Planter w no drainage hole is GREAT!! It allows you to safely have real plants on your wood furniture. You find a plastic pot w drainage (or drill your own holes) that fits perfectly, then you can put your plant in the sink, water it thoroughly, let it drain for an hour or so and put it back into the decorative pot! This will ensure your plants are perfectly watered and your table is protected.

Adding rocks or sand in the bottom will serve as a drainage option too

Actually most plants need full drainage and the roots could rot if you have no drainage holes. Just put trays under your pots to protect furniture.

@Robert James - I find the method I described works great too if you like a decorative pot. Letting them drain after a thorough watering ensures no root rot and since you are effectively washing the soil, no build up of salts.

I like watering this way also. I will leave the plant in the sink most of the day to soak up some humidity and sunshine while it drains. It's a good reason to stay caught up with the he dishes I have found however that I have to use a saucer or stack of books underneath the pots. The moisture will seep through the pot if it's not sealed.

Yes! I have a house full of plants, and almost all of them are in a plastic liner placed inside a decorative outer pot that has no drainage holes. Of course the plant needs drainage, but that’s what the inner pot is for. People don’t understand that pots with no drainage holes are intended to be the outer pot.

Pausing the video to say - I'm a crazy plant mom 😆 and prefer to keep my plants in their nursery containers and just place them into decorative pots instead of re-potting. I find that it's better for the plant to have several drainage holes instead of only one. So I actually love that this beautiful pot doesn't have a drainage hole. So you might try that. 😀

Both hydrangeas and lilacs are flowering shrubs, so I can see how they can be mistaken for each other during their early blooming stages. :) Biggest thing is their leaf shapes, with the hydrangea being lobed, glossy and slightly leathery, and the lilac a heart-shape. Hydrangea leaves are lighter green, while lilac leaves are darker green. Also, hydrangea blooms are more spherical "pom-pom" like with bigger petals. Lilac blooms are more cone shaped on the stem, with small four-petalled flowers. Just some fast facts incase you were interested! I grew up around wild lilac bushes. Studio McGee at Target does a good job with making plants look pretty realistic for the price you pay!

You have the best taste!! I'm in love with everything you selected. If there is no drainage hole, you can tape the bottom with thick tape (think duct tape) and use a drill to gently drill a hole. The tape keeps cracks fun happening! 😉

You and olive greenery, Heeheehee! 😂😂😂 But I love it too, it does look fuller, I am now tempted to go to Target! I love their greenery! A couple years ago I bought the small olive stems at Hobby Lobby, 40% off, I bought several sets of stems, then I found the small vases (brown, amber colored), the olive stems fit perfectly in the vases, I have them in both bathrooms. I like your style, earthy tones, neutrals. I packed away my Christmas decor, trees and started decorating with creams, ivory, with touches of blues and gold. Wood accents…etc. You’re giving me ideas with the marble and faux leather. I really like your videos, thank you for giving us a heads-up on what’s available at Target for this Spring. 🙂🙂🙂

Hi Jenna! I have purchased a few things online from this collection....the two ferns the small/med, the planter (I also plan on using it as a crock. I have so many olive plants so I passed on those. Last Spring I ordered some beautiful olive branches from someone on Etsy, so I plan on using those. Recently, you showed the Ballard design olive topiaries and I fell in love with them. The large one came the other day and I liked it so much that I ordered the small one. I keep feeling it as I can't believe they are not real! LOL Love this video especially because you take the time to show how you design it in your space.

Jenna dont be put off a lovely planter just cos it's not got any drainage holes. Simply drill a few in the bottom using a masonary bit. It's very simple. I've had to do it on many occasions. (I think i preferred the Studio McGee utensil pot to this one🙈).x
