It is so helpful to see how an artist actually uses their palette. So many tutorials the camera is just focussed on the page, you're lucky to have so many angles! Love it! I've been thinking I've been mixing wrong/am lazy because I never clean my palette and seeing you make that purple on top of the green was great! I struggle with composition so this is awesome thanks :)

This was a great tutorial Jenna! Two things I noticed in my own version: #1. I put the first flowers close to each other so there wasn't much room to add more colors in between. I think it's just because I didn't know what to expect but if I had watched one time through first I could have left room there. #2. When I start the brush in the center and go out my point is at the outside and not the inside. I keep trying to start the point on the inside and round off the outside of the petal but it doesn't come natural. If I start at the outside I can do a better job but the center isn't as clean. I know it just takes more practice. I just started back after a few month break so I'm not too worried, just thought I would share. Thanks for your videos!!

You call it rule of 3 - I've always called it 'odd numbers' - never two, but 1, 3, 5, ect is fine. But I never knew why. The viewer looking for pairs, I never knew that, so thanks! My daughter is 13 and she watches you everyday. Thank you so much for making videos. She is very shy and she has really came out of her shell this year. I had one question my daughter wants me to buy these Winsor tube paints for her birthday. Is there a proper way to put them into the pans or should I not do that at all. Because that’s what she wants me to do,put the tube paints in the little squares. is that OK or am I going to ruin them thank you
@JennaRaineyChannel4 жыл бұрын
Hey Vincent! I’m so happy to heat your daughter is enjoying the videos and getting into watercolor! All the exact paints I use, just FYI, are linked in the description. As far as putting them into the pans, there’s no special way to do it, but she could do it herself if she wanted. What I do when I am getting fresh paint out, is I will pour the pigment on my palette, and I like to let it dry, then activate it with water when I am ready to paint. That will usually make the paint last longer, instead of going straight for fresh, wet paint out of the tube. I hope that helps! Happy birthday to your 13 year old!!

Very pretty! I love your videos! As someone commented below I'd like to see semi realistic florals. This was interesting as I didn't realize when you license a design that the purchaser had any say in color or format for design. I thought they simply bought your work. That's how much I know!! :)

I really enjoy this video and all of them really. Would love to see more videos on composition as it is a tricky part of painting. Also- is this video sped up? I find myself trying to go faster to keep up but things don’t turn out nice. Thank you!
@JennaRaineyChannel4 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, Alisha, and I appreciate your feedback. I’ll keep composition in mind for future videos. There were moments where this was sped up because it was a composition focused video and I wasn’t actually teaching much of the flowers, so we sped it up to get to the composition talk.... sometimes we’ll speed things up because if we don’t, some vids would be literally close to an hour - so sometimes we have to make that decision, although we prefer not to... hope that clears it up for ya. Thanks for watching and supporting!

Well, you see, I’m a professional photographer, so I see a lot of faces and study faces. I know photogenic people, usually, when I see them, and I can see that you are photogenic. That doesn’t always make one beautiful, but in your case , you are. Also, just bc one is beautiful does not mean that one is photogenic. Anyway, that’s why I mentioned how pretty you are. Hi Jenna. I did buy your watercolor book the other day. It's great!! Ok, so I am having a bit of a problem with pastel colors. If you buy a pastel watercolor in a tube it is opaque because they add white to it. If you take like a cad. red and water it down it is not really a pastel its a water colored down cad. red. Hi Jenna. I know this video is quite old, but I just came to this specific one via a very recent reference from Crystal Tan. I watch all your videos (thank you for sharing) and I'm just being a bit lazy, but I'm curious if you have any videos, specifically, re: the perspective of painting flowers i.e. the different views? That is a weak point for me. Also, I have an aversion to sketching and drawing...I WILL not do that. Can't help it. LOL Thanks.

Wow, beautiful paintings! Love the flowers . - You can also use 'The Golden Ratio' so you always makes beautiful paintings. That's the most used measure-teqnigue by the greatest artist in the world. But, I just don't think it'll go with the style you're doin' btw. Anyways, thank you from your new subber. 🙂

@@JennaRaineyChannel You're welcome. I'm sure somebody will take good use of this proportional divider. I think the ratio is something like 1:1,67.- And, luckely we're good to help eachother out when it comes to art, right? Happy painting. ❣️

I'm thinking maybe my brush is too small. My flowers dry out before I can utilize WOW so there are hard lines everywhere. By the time I'm putting in some stems, the petals are too dry to create that blooming effect even though I'm loading it with as much water as the brush can hold 🤷🏼♀️ Even so, it turned out great thank you for the tutorial!

What are pantone colors?
@JennaRaineyChannel4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jane! It is literally a book FULL of different colors that are assigned numbers, so that designers and manufacturers and whoever else can be on the exact same page when it comes to coloring a particular piece. Colors on screen can vary depending on what screen you're looking at, so it's best to have a pantone book to know exactly what color you're going for... I hope that makes sense. Check it out here: Pantone Formula Guide: amzn.to/2VWHc9Y
