I was there in 2013. It was a very magical night. To understand the excitement, apart from: "it is Nightwish", nobody knew where the band was going to. They changed the lead singer and it was the first mega show of the year at the metal mekka at Wacken. Most of us knew that Floor was a fantastic singer but could she resist the pressure? The band had to succeed and Floor delivered in a fantastic way. The songs, written for Tarja, seemed to be designed for Floor. It was a feeling that all the songs only waited for Floor, all the years. For me this night was the rebirth of Nightwish. An ever lasting memory!!

Well your Dutch brethren, all 6' 1" Floor Jansen a/k/a the Valkyrie Goddess leads this symphonic metal band with her power, range and stage presence and does it here in front of 80,000 or so metal-heads when she was just became a member of the band. What a coming out party and Nightwish plays Epics , Ballads, Folk Metal, Pop and even Power Metal and Floor can sing anything the bands decides to do. Tuomas the keyboardist creates, writes, arranges and stages 95% of their songs and with Floor he now has freedom to do anything. The musicianship of this band LIVE is amazing and one doesn't merely listen to Nightwish they experience then and to do so properly it has to be LIVE and with Floor that is the only way to appreciate her presence on stage. This song shows off many of vocal ranges and was done an hour into the concert, which is one of the best LIVE concerts to watch. You will get many requests but if this is the kind of music you like may I suggest: Shudder Before the Beautiful LIVE Wembley Arena (kzbin.info/www/bejne/baC0aaaEiL6Lo7M) the opening song of that concert in 2015 that just blew away the crowd and had them hyped for the rest of the concert. The band has been around since 1996 and Floor is the 3rd vocalist (hopefully the last) and the band's catalog has over 100 songs to divide into. Welcome to the family and brace yourself for the NW army to descend upon you with requests!!!

Ahh! Welcome to Nightwish. I'm a simple man. I see a Nightwish reaction, I watch. If you will allow me, I would like to play ambassador and give you a potential order of songs to react to. This is like a fine dining experience, you don't want to jump past all the tasty appetizers and go straight to the main course! Below is the order I think helps you experience Nightwish fully and exposes you to their talents. Included is a KZbin video ID and a brief description. 1 - Ghost Love Score (You're here, and it's a great way to be introduced to the band and Floor Jansen) 2 - Romanticide [zz_7OCCQlXs] (Now that you have a taste for the angelic, hear the heavy side of Floor. This will also introduce you to Marco's singing (bass player). Floor also shows her range in one grand slide from the bottom of her range to the top.) 3 - Song of Myself [lQu5QjidHWg] (Another good heavier song with a gloriously dark stretch near the end.) 4 - The Poet and the Pendulum [gbn9GczYBkw] (This is the second of the three epics. You'll definitely want to read the background to this song first.) 5 - The Islander [Zo8ncK_5kzc] (This is all Marco. A soft sea shanty style song with undertones of Celtic.) 6 - The Phantom of the Opera [8VgLKXD-BoY] (After Pendulum, visit their former singer Tarja (Pronounced Tar-ee-ya) and her more operatic style) 7 - Yours Is An Empty Hope [XtXqUNB8zrU] (Another heavier song. I just find this song to be fun and it was recorded on the Nightwish Cruise! Listen for Floor Jansen's growling during the chorus!) 8 - While Your Lips Are Still Red [5V7PKv493Ic] (Marco again. A sweet song with the message of love and "taking those little chances that we all miss; to plunge in right now. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate. just dive in for all you are worth, and see what comes of it.") 9 - The Greatest Show on Earth [45brzDJKZ3o] (This is the big one. A 21-minute song about the formation of our solar system and the rise of humanity.) After this, there are so many songs to visit. However, I feel the above really lets you dip your toes in slowly and enjoy the ride.

Amazing Reaction! FYI, there was 82,000+ in the audience at that year's annual W'V'acken open air Metal Festival, in Germany. Ghost Love Score was the 13th of 16 songs that Nightwish performed that night. Like most, I'm sure you will around to reacting some of the other 15. They were that year's (2013) headliners. Being the last of over 50+ bands that performed at the 4-day Event.

The music is called symphonic metal and i very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current) . * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of. Band members Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics) Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals) Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (The drummer) Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player) Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK) The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the worldtour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmoqZ6jjLCAe7c ) As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. Before you take a look at it i would recommend to take a look at the backstory of this song. This will make you appreciate it much more. here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZPRanqZr751odk BTW that last note she just sang? Nightwish fan created a whole new word for when she does something impressive like that. We call it a Floorgasm. Welcome to the club and boy are you going to receive a lot of traffic on your channel. ;-)

Floor is a Soprano, but has tremendous range and control of her lower register as well! Her ability to sing "Head Voice technique" then transition seamlessly to singing from her diaphragm is amazing. In any technical sense, she is a very capable classical opera singer. But the ability to hit those "primal growling" parts of metal songs make her a multi dimensional vocalist. Her stage presence is incredible, and her talent seems not of this world. Maybe she truly is a Viking Goddess of the past reincarnated?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish and its fan family! The keyboard musician, Tuomas (pronounce twoo - mas, speak out the w) Holopainen, is no less than a musical genius and a beautiful sensitive poet. He's the founder, composer and main songwriter of the Symphonic Metal band Nightwish from Finland. Tuomas is the heart, mind and soul of Nightwish. He even wrote almost all of the orchestral arrangements as well. Tuomas founded the band together with the drummer in this video Jukka (pronounce youk - ka) Nevalainen and the guitarist Erno "Emppu" (pronounce emp - pu) Vuorinen. Jukka was later replaced by current drummer Kai Hahto due to health issues. They added a bassist Sami Vänskä and a female operatic singer Tarja (pronounce tar - ya) Turunen. Sami was later replaced by current bassist and great singer Marco Hietala, the one in this video, who also occasionally writes some (parts) of the lyrics. Tarja was later replaced by pop/rock singer Anette Olzon from Sweden. Anette was later replaced by the current and most versatile singer of them all, Floor Jansen from the Netherlands. Along the way they added multi musician Troy Donockley from the UK to the group, who plays uillean pipes (Irish bagpipes), bouzouki, different flutes, guitar and sings occasionally. This makes Nightwish complete. Floor gets compared a lot to Tarja. Both singers are great, but Floor is the most versatile. She can sing operatic, rock and pop. That makes her equipped to sing all songs from both Tarja's era and from Anette's era. Floor has an amazing vocal range and a great feeling for dramatics. She has the ability to get into the emotions of the lyrics and deliver the songs as if she's living and feeling those emotions at that exact moment. That's pure talent. However great a singer Tarja is, who can also sing with much emotion in her voice, she's never been able to deliver it like Floor does. Floor really makes you feel the songs as they were written and how they're meant to be heard. She makes the songs come to life even more. Have fun on this epic journey into the world of Nightwish and enjoy every precious second of it! Other Nightwish songs I recommend you to react to are: Romanticide, Yours Is An Empty Hope (not the Nightwish cruise version), The Poet And The Pendulum, Ever Dream, Elán, My Walden, Greatest Show On Earth. By the way, you should definitely check out Epica, the 'Retrospect' concert (10 year anniversary), featuring Floor Jansen singing as a guest in duet with Simone Simons on the songs 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa' (a classical piece by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi) and 'Sancta Terra'. I'm sure you'll love it. Enjoy!

11:30 the Floorgasm brings yet another convert to the family !! 😁 Welcome Sister. You’re one of us now. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every note; so, no pressure on her to Bury that high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie; and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

Argh, I had written a long-ass comment welcoming you to Nightwish and giving ideas for songs to react to next, and then either KZbin or my phone ate it. So I will just say again: welcome to Nightwish, they are incredibly good and versatile, with many different styles, your reaction was great, Floor is the 8th wonder of the world, and would you consider reacting to Storytime live at Wacken 2013, because I think you might like that. Or even more condensed:😀

Thank you for your reaction. I am a big Nightwish fan and I have heard many reactions to Ghost Love Score, and yours is among the best. I’ve heard Nightwish in concert in 2015 in 2018 here in the states; they were awesome. As you have seen in othy comments, welcome to the Nightwish army :-). And the band is very versatile. Also, Marco the bass player is an excellent singer and sings lead occasionally. I’m happy to be a new subscriber

I disagree, That one is the best, most personal and emotional in their catalog, so do it LAST. Do more Wacken 2013 for now, Romaticide for some aggressive metal or Storytime to be taken away. :-)

Great reaction! Nightwish is a fantastic band - and Floor is out-of-this-world-amazing. I hope you'll react to/check out more songs with them. I'm sure you will drown in comments and views now. once the Nightwish nation awakens... Wacken 2013 is a great show, so well filmed and edited with fantastic sound - and the performance of the band is awesome. I'm sure a lot of people will tell you to check out "The poet and the pendulum" but my advice is to wait. Maybe check out 10 other songs by Nightwish first? Storytime, Ever Dream, Romanticide, Song of Myself, Amaranthe, I want my tears back (all of them - live at Wacken 2013) and there's still a lot more... \m/

Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard. ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!! The Nightwish Army is incoming! Hi Jenn! Somehow, I missed this reaction -- *Homer Simpson:* D'oh! My thought is: This was 6 years before Beste Zangers, and her epic performances on Dutch National TV. 6 years before her epic duet with Henk Poort. And the crazy thing? Floor, like fine wine, has only gotten better with age. And before I forget, Nightwish's new album has been announced, in terms of song list, cover, and artwork. It looks to be very well recieved.

Lots of people missed this at the time, now we can catch up :) Growling... She seems so nice, a real person, not a diva. "FloorWorld" is for her fans.

Hello Jenn, that was a very nice, thoughtful and pleasant reaction, thank you for that! I would be thrilled if you could do some more Nightwish reactions (and I know a discord server full of people wishing the same :-). Be assured that most of their songs are way shorter, so I can give you some pointers if you want: - For something a bit faster and heavier try Romanticide from Wacken 2013. - For their folky side check out "I want my tears back" also from Wacken - A more poppy sounding song would be "Alpenglow" from Wembley - Then of course we have ballads, if you like those. "Sleeping Sun" from Tampere comes to mind or "Kiss while your lips are still red" from Wembley with their bassist Marco as the lead singer. - If you like opera, you can also go way back and check out their first singer Tarja, for example with "Phantom of the Opera" from the End of an Era concert. Floor can also sing opera but uses her chest voice more. That isn't even the full spectrum of what Nightwish can provide, so I hope you dig in a bit deeper with us. Thank you again and hopefully see you soon with another reaction. Have fun! P.S.: The show you just saw was an open air metal concert in Germany with Nightwish as the headliners and 82000 people.

Not many bands can pull off having an intermission DURING a song. This band has been around since 1996 so they know what they are doing. I bet 90% of the crowd knew about the intermission here. Nightwish has some INCREDIBLY DEDICATED fans, for many reasons. It's not just the musical potential, but the humanity that they show. They are each AMAZING in their own ways. Floor also teaches vocal lessons. Marco has a separate band that he sings in (he's an amazing vocalist in his own right). Tuomas writes and composes for Nightwish (for all intents and purposes, it is HIS band, he started it) but it would not surprise me at all to find out if he writes for others as well. They once had one of their fans join them on stage to sing with them; they had found out that he was dying of cancer, this was one of his wishes. He was only in his twenties; he passed away just weeks after having sung with them. They were all heartbroken.

Marco also worked on a lot on "Delain" albums. He is more or less considered an un-official member of the band by the fans. (i have no idea how this guy can find the time for so many side projects) :-)

Your face was so full of wonder... ^^ This is what Nightwish is, wonder. Although some of Nightwish songs are long, they take you in such a journey that you don't even notice the pass of time. Floor is the third singer the band had and current singer. Her talent resides in that she is able to sing in such variety of tones: melodic, rock, pop, operatic, even she can growl. And she switches between styles, witch is so hard, in a same song and make this seem easy... She's a beast.

Nightwish has been around since 1996. They have had three vocalists - Tarja Turunen (1996 - 2005) Anette Olzon (2007 - 2012) Floor Jansen (2012 - present) This Wacken performance was Floor's first major concert with the band. Tarja and Floor have the operatic vocal style, but Floor has a greater range in styles. Anette was a more poppy rock vocal. Many Nightwish fans didn't care for her.

Congrats, you just jumped on the Nightwish train to ecstasy with a great number of amazing songs & live performances from Wacken 2013, Tampere 2015 & Wembley 2016 just waiting to be reacted to. My fellow passionate Nightwish fans all over the world will surely suggest many great songs from the three live shows I mentioned already with Floor Jansen, the Dutch vocal goddess as their lead female vocalist. In addition to her, they have two male vocalists, Marco (the bassist) and Troy (the British multi-instrumentalist). Tuomas Holopainen (the keyboardist) composes & writes the lyrics to most of their songs, while Emppu takes care of lead guitar, and Jukka (in this Wacken 2013 show) takes care of the drums, but Kai Hahto took over drumming soon after & is now their official drummer.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Symphonic Metal!! Nightwish have had 3 lead singers: Tarja - who was all operatic vocals Anette - who was mostly pop/rock vocals and finally Floor - who can do anything and everything, from operatic to low metal growls... she truly is a goddess! I have personally loved them since around 2004, they are my favourite band and Ghost Love Score is my favourite song of all time. I fell in love with it when Tarja sang the vocals on the studio version, but then Floor came along and made it even more epic!! A few songs I would recommend: Nightwish - Romanticide live at Wacken 2013 Nightwish - Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2015 Nightwish - Song of Myself live at Wacken 2013 Nightwish - Weak Fantasy live at Tampere 2015 Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere 2015 Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera live at end of an era (with Tarja)
