Tripped and fell down the rabbit hole of buying more motorcycles. This is a 1992 Kawasaki KDX200 that hasn't been started in 10 years. Jen and I try to get it going.

Some info on these old KDX's: The #1 thing to check: The power valves in the top of the cylinder get carboned up and they break. They were made out of aluminum. They will bounce around in the top end and destroy the motor. You can clean them up or replace them with custom made steel ones. They are pricey though. Check the rubber adapter between the motor and the carb. They develop cracks and can suck air/dirt. Check the air filter box rubber between the carb and the air filter box. They develop cracks and can suck air/dirt. The blue anodized forks were only used in '93 and '94 and were made by KYB. They were also used by some years of KX bikes. You can take the rubber piece out of the top of the air box to get more air flow. You will have to rejet the carb though. Make sure the needle that goes into the top of the carb is not bent at all. Kawasaki discontinued most of the parts on these bikes so hoard the parts you have. You can find used parts on eBay. Most guys run 40:1 in these bikes. Thanks for the video!

Compared to the usual motorcycle mechanic huh? In my 20s I was a tech at a Honda dealership and now I'm an engineer and of the guys I worked with one is head of the motorcycle sales division at Suzuki and all the others are doing very well. So the average motorcycle in my experience is very intelligent and successful I don't understand what you mean.
@PragmaticTornado6 жыл бұрын
The average motorcycle is intelligent? Well, I mean, some new bikes have IMU's, so I guess that can be mistaken for _artifical_ intelligence, but still. Joking. Yeah my perception of motorcycle mechanics is that they generally seem more intellectually awake than their car counterparts. Not sure why. Maybe I've just met the good ones.

If you are in California and that is a two stroke, that thing probably won’t touch public asphalt
@seancrowley96726 жыл бұрын
there are 2 strokes registered in California, I used to have one however it was old and came from the factory plated. mine was a Hodaka Wombat 125 from the late 60's or early 70's

I have two old two strokes registered in cali. The fact that you didn’t know it was a two stroke shows that you shouldn’t be assuming things like that.

I hope you all okay with the fires out there! Not exactly sure where in Northern Cal you are, but thought of you when I saw some videos ripping through the napa hills!!

I had absolutely no interest in engines and things like that. Found myself watching your generator video and I'm hooked. Your videos are really entertaining and informative!
