The all court spin master vs the flat hard hitting punishing groundstroker. Great style match up.

Thank you for the highlight. It was definitely a lot closer than the scoreline suggests!

Even though Capriati wasn't my favorite of players, there's no denying that she was a beautiful striker of the ball and she had amazing footwork and anticipation.

+Baritone Master She was. My favourite player, at that time. But nowhere near as aggressive as Serena, Venus, Henin or Davenport... *in 2001*. These players were all hitting a lot more winners than Jennifer, against the same opponents (which is the true measure of a player's basic style). Jennifer actually *backs off* balls that Serena and Justine would simply hit for outright winners in this period. As at point 3.25. It could be frustrating as Serena and Justine both made the matches they played against Capriati about them, their own winners (and errors).... and Capriati would scurry about the court counterpunching and retrieving. Very well, i might add but still...

Adam boxers i agree the matches vs serena were all about serena to some degree. Her unforced errors and winners
@paskferr8 жыл бұрын
+Adam boxers I agree on everything, she couldn't let her shots go, I was like she never allowed her tennis to go full throttle. I don't understand why she didn't go for it more, especially with the forehand.

Jen was one hell of a tennis player. Wish she had played longer. This was a great era of women's tennis.

Great quality. I miss this kind of style opposition.

Capriati was going to town on that Hingis 2nd serve in the 1st set. In a few of those clips she was a foot in front of that baseline uncorking on those softballs. Those two ladies always played each other tough. I miss those days.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for uploading this. This style of play (Martina"s) is sadly absent from women's tennis.

Jennifer was such a clean ball striker. Every shot was so solid and hit with authority. If she was on, then you were in for a tough match.

Capriati was great to watch as was Hingis. I can see how Capriati got shoulder issues from that forehand....very jerky sometimes especially when stretched out wide and the racket goes around her head
@1958mlvc7 жыл бұрын
cupidslover3 She definitely was an excellent striker of the ball as was Mary Pierce when she was full throttle.
@Gitfiddle7 жыл бұрын
She catches the ball a bit late and very flat. That tends to send the racket over the same shoulder.

really wanted hingis to win this match

A great match between two great players and none of that ridiculous screaming and shrieking every time the ball is hit. It just shows how unnecessary all that screaming is.
@r.forrestblount92225 жыл бұрын
Dave, grunting can be loud but it helps to strengthen your ball striking timing.

I actually like watching the players that grunt, because they seem like they are giving every shot their all out there, but then again I watch a lot of men's tennis so I'm used to it.
@cambium07 жыл бұрын
capriati could hit through hingis, hingis couldn't hit through capriati. Calling capriati a pusher doesn't seem quite right--she really had some great winners, great defensive plays, always hard hitting. Capriate was strong and reliable on both sides, no holes in her game for Hingis to exploit. I guess the scoreline might have been closer on hard courts--Hingis could actually hit some winners.
@nikosgr92902 жыл бұрын
well actually their H2H tells a different story as it is 5-4 in Hingis favour.
@pablogalarza15924 жыл бұрын
Hingis a pesar de haber perdido el 1er set supo cambiar de estrategia y emparejar el partido pudo ser para cualquiera de las dos
