In her book she said she went to a red carpet event afterwards, and the paparazzi and celebrities did not know who she was. I did not know her either at first. An attractive woman that nobody recognized. That must have been like being in The Twilight Zone TV show.

My mom (of a similar ethnic background to Jennifer) also got a nose job. I got a nose job as I had my dads Karl Malden type nose and was teased as a kid for that (& my frizzy hair too!). I immediately regretted the way I looked (as a chin implant was also recommended to balance out the face plus a slight tuck) and longed for my old look back! It was a huge physiological impact and my identity was totally gone. I’m okay with it today but it took me years to get over. To my surprise I found out later in life that my cousin did the same thing as her dad my dads brother! She always loved her new nose, me not so much. Learn to love yourself the way you are is so true.. and plastic surgery is NOT the be all, end all!!

Girl, please, triggered much? You poor thing. Jennifer was already cast. Patrick wasn't. They wanted to cast him, but they didn't want to do it without Jennifer agreeing to it, for obvious reasons. So yeah, she ok'd Patrick for the audition. It was Patrick who directly requested her OK, since it was the sensible thing to do. And yes, they both entered the room where they were going to do the screen test with red, teary eyes, they had clearly been crying. Eleanor Bergstein, the writer and co-producer of DD, has been telling this story for years. And everyone's eyes weren't on Patrick, I assure you. Not everyone belongs to that cult. You are one of those people who actually make Patrick look bad, which is a shame.

Remember Barbra Streisand? Ever seen the opening of her film THE MAIN EVENT? It starts with several people on a table of a perfume company, passing around a perfume sample. All you see are the individuals' noses in close up, one by one, sampling a fragrance until they get to THAT NOSE and that is the way that Barbra is introduced in that movie. It's a hysterically funny, SUBLIME moment. It's also such an empowering moment of somebody taking a feature of themselves that doesn't fit the mold of what's considered refined or acceptable in show-business and turning it inside out. In my humble opinion, Jennifer Grey could've had a career similar to Molly Ringwald had she stayed as she was after Dirty Dancing. Her "Baby" character was enormously appealing, with a particular type of beauty. This beauty, this persona (or a variation of it), could've been used for at least 5 more films after that star-making role. I (or any other pre-teen or teen youth of the time) would've paid to see her in "ordinary girl becomes swan" roles. Molly Ringwald was pretty, but in a different way. She played the girl whom everybody forgot her birthday in SIXTEEN CANDLES. Jennifer could've killed in that part. If someone pressured her to alter her features to become more marketable, it's tragic. Oh, well. What's done it's done. Anyone has the chance to "reinvent" themselves. I wish Jennifer the very best.

When she played Mindy on Friends her character told an anecdote about a friend of theirs loosing “all that weight and it turns out she wasn’t pretty anyway” So, it was kind of a play on words mirroring her own reality, that she got the nose job and still couldn’t get a job anyway. I’m pondering, In a “parallel universe” where she DOESN’T get the nose job, does she eventually get jobs? Maybe it wasn’t really all about her nose? Or maybe it was…. In an interview she said she felt that after getting the plastic surgery she just felt she was stuck in her own personal Twilight Zone episode! I once heard a comedian talk about it, he said he met her and was like “oh you’re beautiful, but sorry, who are you?” She said she went into surgery famous and came out of it anonymous-that would definitely feel like a real live twilight Zone episode where there is no director yelling CUT! Think about it, after Ferris Day Off and Dirty Dancing she was FAMOUS!! BUT….BUT…. She said she only got paid $50,000 for her role of Baby in the movie!!! She was famous but broke! That alone was enough for her to question the Hollywood game on stardom…. I’m very happy she’s now in a place of acceptance and peace. She really deserves to be happy and feel fulfilled! To this day Ican still watch Dity Dancing over and over and over again!!!

She didn’t mention it but she costarred in a network sitcom in 1999 for 2 seasons in which she played herself and the nose job making her unrecognizable and it ruining her career was a running theme. I remember very little else about it.

With the exception of the nose job which did make her look a completely different person. She does look very natural and she is beautiful. It would be nice to see her make a comeback because a lot of actresses her age look so stretched they look strange and yet they are still cast. (Nicole Kidman). She'd make a great mother in the Marvel universe. And a little bit of filler could probably give her back her old nose if she wanted it.

She's beautiful but it is still going to take tremendous Re-branding which she has unsuccessfully attempted so far The book is her next strategy but if people don't think the recognizable image matters than they are greatly mistaken Many actresses have gradually changed over time but many of those actresses look they obviously got work done that distorted their features but they are still highly recognizable

Of course it did! It changed her look completely! I think she looks beautiful but an actress or actor are at high risk for facial changes because unusual features like noses have high recognition Barbara Streisand or Meryl Streep or Dustin Hoffman getting a different nose would ruin their "image" even if it improved their apparent look This is the point of the career damage that happened for her!
