She won an Oscar duplicating Jennifer Holliday’s original rendition of the song. She didn’t deviate not one note. Hudson has a great voice and can actually sing, I’m not taking any of that from her but don’t go on like she’s the greatest thing since Whitney Houston! And yes Aretha still reigns. I’m actually dreading the up coming movie, you know the one! The one with Hudson. The one with Cynthia was actually descent.

Its not the talent its her songbook .... no radio station or streaming platform is going to have sleeper songs like this in rotation....yawn. She needs a better product. Her talent is A one. She sings well, but don't have the songbook like Celine mariah whitney etc had. No comparison, Just pointing out that great singers are usually associated with great songs. Her covers, soundtrack and broadway songs are more known than her own songs. She doesn't have a 2 hour show full of hits. But she can sing like you wouldn't believe.
