Being an EGOT winner is way bigger than being an American Idol winner. She also sang an Aretha Franklin song for her American Idol audition and then few years later was handpicked by Franklin herself to play the legendary singer in a biopic movie. Easily one of, if not the best and most successful American Idol loser ever. Prove that you don't need to win a musical competition show to succeed, you just need to work hard to achieve something big for your career. Congratulations to JHud, you deserve it 👏

The exposure that Jennifer got from American Idol is the reason she was given so many opportunities, and I am so thankful for that. It's funny, I still remember yelling and throwing my slipper at the TV when she was voted off that year. Then a year later, we were celebrating her being in *Dream Girls.* You never know what's coming, but keep trusting in God, and like you said, put in that hard work!!!

To all the people saying she was aware that she was close to an EGOT, I think that’s obvious. But what a lot of y’all are not considering is that in the moment she was most likely just excited for the crew she worked with! Then she quickly realized it was the EGOT win, but for the first moments it was probably just excitement for the project she had worked on.

EGOTs tend to arrive with less fanfare and just do what they do in a very cool manner. Maybe it’s me, however, I don’t think that those who have received this honor because they were intentionally striving for it. It seems like they were humbly doing what they love-creating magic-and were recognized for what was manifested by their talents. I could be wrong. I like that people like Taylor Swift don’t hold this kind of honor-not dismissing her talent. However, the artistry of people have received EGOT status is more than being famous-it’s rooted in talent that spans genres/backgrounds/age/etc. EGOTS seem to put their work out there (or, simply, do the work) and allow the creativity to be observed/realized/celebrated while they move in modesty in different kind of way.

Yo this is complete BS. When she got her Emmy she posted a pic on Twitter of herself wearing a giant gold "E.G.O." ring. Then she signed on as a silent producer of a prestige Broadway show, and one year later won the Tony for it. She 100000% was intentionally going for EGOT. Congrats to her for achieving it, but her story about not realizing she had gotten it is an obvious lie. She was FULLY aware.

Depends on how long ago she got the last component to her EGOT. It might have slipped her mind while she was just excited her show won a Tony and it took a while to register even if it was her intention when signing on to a project or if it wasn’t the first Broadway show she has participated in

Y'all, everyone forgets things in moments of excitement. Things will happen, and then it will hit you about two seconds later. Sis knew what her goal was, but in that moment, her achievement took a backseat to that of the cast, crew, writers, band, etc. for A Strange Loop. And then it processed, and it hit her that she had achieved something only 17 other people in the world have. She's allowed to be proud.
