Jennifer Hudson, Ms. Hudson, is one of the most prolific singers of our modern times. Her background in her spiritual relationship with Jesus brought her thru the murders of some of her close family members, along with her forgiveness of the murderer. Since then, the Lord has blessed her to truly rise to fame. She sings spiritual songs even better than pop songs. She sings songs of great profundity. I love her inner persona, just as much as I do her outer amazing voice range. Just beautiful. I am so proud of her.

If you are talking about the last note the (Star note) it's an F5 not a D5.

Ollie Ollie ... it was an F5 here. I believe the first time she sang it, it was in a much lower key but here at the beginning she even said “ooh that’s high” and continued singing in that key so the original D5 became an F5 in this one... which is beyond impressive. Singers usually can’t sing songs in original keys as the years go by but she completely nailed this higher key and hitting that F5 with utmost power.

I began my love of Jennifer with her audition on Idol and my heart broke when she left. What was so great then and now is how much she continued to perfect her voice and stage presence. I saw her first performance after Dreamgirls. Even after the Oscar win, she remained so humble and I could see how nervous she was - pretty much behind the mic and her speaking voice was so soft I could hardly hear her. I am so proud of her and she remains an inspiration to me.

Dear God. That last note! Chills. Now I do believe that this was scripted (I've done television) ... but it wasn't rehearsed per se. JHud herself commented that the key was a bit high for her but opted to go for it rather than have the band transpose it down a bit. Brilliant work.

It wasn't scripted.I spoke to David the MD and he says he lives for moments like this ..when these icons turn to him ans want to sing. And the way he just gets Jennifer and Tom and plays these songs in the perfect key for them is equally I incredible

I don't think it was scripted. Because from the full episode, there was actually a contestant auditioned with this same song Impossible Dream, but in Frank Sinatra version. I think JHud picked this song from the selection of previous auditions, because she knew the band was already prepared on the arrangement.
