David O Russell has that brilliant passion for art that is oft-imitated but rarely demonstrated. It takes courage and a lot of conviction to do what he does and I admire him. And Jennifer is brilliant as usual!

Jennifer was great in Silver Linings Playbook. I did not like her in American hustle. Joy was a good film, but the performance was okay, but not oscar worthy.

I love David and I love Jennifer. They are undoubtedly talented. I just wish that he would put her in parts of her own age. It just strikes me as so odd. She was 20 when she was in Silver Linings and played a widow, 22 in American Hustle with a marriage and a son, 24 with a divorce and two kids. Sure, it's a testament to her skill that she can pull it off, but it's so unnecessary. Why not tell a story of someone her age?

Honestly Joy was mediocre and Joy Mangano's story was exaggerated and I think it would have been better if David O'Russell stuck to the Real Joy Mangano story. There's a lot of good aspiring actors in Hollywood who have great potential (not to say Jennifer wasn't great) but if David had given other aspiring actors to play a role like this it would be better, because believe it or not I know they always say they have magic working together that so called "magic" will die of because people will Start to get sick of people working again and again and there's nothing new coming out of it.

I get that the film, like the insane family, is tonally jarring but I appreciated that it felt like a real film when it could've easily become just some Lifetime movie of the week.
