Yes! Bill Whitaker's lovely vibe in the Jennifer Lawrence interview was a noticeable plus! I really hate it when interviewers give off a judgmental "gotcha" vibe in celebrity interviews, and he had none of that. And I appreciated that he was so good humored about it when she literally leapt over him in pursuit of her self-portrait! LOL ; - D

Meryl is an American treasure. She never fails to deliver. She was absolutely right on when she spoke of the narrow vision of today's action blockbusters. A perfect example of this is a comment from a friend of my son's after seeing the film Oppenheimer. She complained of it being boring with "too much dialogue."
@JackMason-oq8lf
@JackMason-oq8lf Жыл бұрын
Boomers do not care for Mills and Zooms without provocation, LOL. To even be allowed to enter a theatre showing a film about a 1950 melodrama, Oppenheimer, is wrong, for anybody involved. Don't they have an IQ requirement for films? To get drift of yet again another pronouncement of diminished capabilities....just takes your meth away. This comment about "too much" from someone with "very little" reminds me of a quote from that horse commenting on Club El Morocco
@Lucianndra
@Lucianndra 11 ай бұрын
although I mainly agree, Oppenheimer although it may appear boring to some, in a sense it was necessary to be done so, for one because it is important history to be aware of, and two, it had enough free space and silence to instill some dread into your soul of the gravity of what is transpiring, at least that's how I felt it. It wasn't in any way revolutionary, but it has artistic value and a place to give back some awareness to the populous. And who hasn't at least taken away that from it, needs to re watch later in life with a more mature perspective.

Jenifer Lawrence - officially uneducated but natural and down to earth. Definitely a wise (young) woman. Meryl Streep - unusually universal and brilliant actress. Moreover, even at her age almost unbelievably beautiful! Angelina Jolie - gorgeous, relentless, and controversial. And a great actress! Drew Barrymore - strong, goal-oriented, and also an actress always worthy of watching - in almost any movie she plays in.

You are so right! I had two teachers that changed my life and I think of them often when a success comes to me. I had trouble in school until they realized I was bored and put me ahead a grade, I still graduated as a junior and had my first success in my early twenties after going to New York! Thanks to you and many great teachers your able to help those of us who might not fit in the box either!! What's up Doc. In today's climate it's difficult to ignore that educators can't teach these new dogs old tricks. They have such distain for anything that happened the day before they were born. That includes Plato. "Lecturing" Mills or Zooms is like teaching tired lights; they aren't the brightest bulbs in town. On the flip side of the street, as a student, no educator tried to inspire me to come in or find a seat or sit down. I had to do that all on my own. My education began the day I left school.

Meryl Streep started the standing ovation for Roman Polanski at an awards show despite him being a known pedophile who has evaded capture since he raped and sodomized a 13 year old girl while she begged him to stop at Jack Nicholson’s house. Agreed. I just wish she would get back to roles like “Sophie’s Choice” “A cry in the dark” “Silkwood” “Kramer vs. Kramer I could go on and on. But as Meryl said herself? They are too busy making “Popcorn movies” and “Superhero movies” because it’s all about $$$$$ and selling toys and action figures. It’s a travesty. Meryl, Ellen Burstyn, Hellen Mirren, Cate Blanchette, Julianne Moore, and Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet are the finest actresses we have left. They need to join forces with talented directors and producers and make real, hard hitting, raw movies like “Request iem for a dream” “Sophie’s Choice” “The Reader” “Little Children” “Notes on a Scandal” “Mare of Eastown (show) “Sharp Objects”(show$ Monsters Ball” etc etc etc. enough with “Mamma Mia” And all this light popcorn fluff give me real and raw performances and real and raw films/limited series

I really admire Jennifer Lawrence for her talent and work ethic. She also seems so grounded. Back in the 2010s when she was really active I was already following her career and going through that ride, but now that we're a few years removed from that time, I'm able to better grasp and appreciate just how amazing her achievements were back then. Segments like these really give some perspective. Looking forward to her future projects now that she seems to be coming back to acting after her break. I love her in every role!

29 ish omg remember that horrendous war, my eldest daughter started junior...then this beautiful (inside and out girl joined and they became friends....despite her hardly speaking because other children bullied her and my daughter helped). We invited her to a playdate, the mother came too...became friends and initially she never spoke much about it. But later I realised the lived in daily fear and insecurity as the father, many other family members too, were still there and they were part of the minority....it was hard to know how to support/even handle it all as a very young "adult". We moved, my husband passed, we lost touch, still I will never forget this family. I hope they are all well. 🙏🍀❤ 31.33 omg Angelina the whole situation was like a Hornets nest...still good on you for bringing it to light. I'd like to see it. 👏 I did like girl interrupted, may revisit it. Thanks for reminding me.

I rented "Winter's Bone" from a RedBox since little known movies was their thing at this time & new releases being available by them was basically unheard of. It blew me away, & unfortunately was the reason I had faith enough to rent a plethora more of the unknown films from the RedBox selection, which sadly did not deliver in the same way. Spoiler Alert ⚠️ A story about a daughter going on a mission to find what became of her missing criminal father, hoping to at least find his body in order to prove him dead & therefore be able to keep the house he put up for bond. The strength shown by this young actress as her character reeled you in with her courage & mental toughness needed to take on the difficult task of risking it all to save her siblings & engaging in actions no child should have to (sawing off her dead fathers hands), let alone a teenager. She did it so effortlessly. Years later, i realized this actress was the Jennifer Lawrence. She deserved the fanfare then, & she definitely has proved she still earns it to this day. What a talent, what a drive!! 👏
