Jimmy had 2 chances but didn't try to ask for her number or ask her on a date probably because he thought Nicole was too good for him. Out of his league. Nicole on the other hand was wondering "was Jimmy really not interested?" that question never left her mind for decades, and finally telling Jimmy her side of the story was definitely a big relief for her. I have always maintained Jimmy really is an animated and easy going guy, and sometimes he does go over to comfort the guest, but when he's having fun it is as genuine as it gets.
