In an otherwise impecable inauguration ceremony, JLO's performance was the one sour note. I'm refering to her insertion of her "Latinex" into a day that is about AMERICA and all of us as AMERICANS. Don't get me wrong, I love the diversity of our country, but that should have been left to the party this evening celebrating the people of this country. This ceremony--ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT DIVISION IN THE COUNTRY--was to empjasize the UNITY, what brings us all together. There are over one hundred ethnicities represented in our country and JL had to say something in Spanish?!! She had to distinguish her Latinex-ness during a ceremony which is about all of us as a people? How about those of Vietnamese heritage here in the coutnry, the Filipinos, the Brazilians (who speak Portuguese), the East Indians and Nigerians and Haitians and Italians and the Germans and the Moroccans? How about the Native Americans for Chrissake?! And the Hungarians, the Ukranians, the Syrians? You get my drift. JLO's speaking in Spanish at a ceremony that was about what we share in common was NARCISSISTIC and it speaks to the what is so much at the root of our problems at this time in the USA. "Let's Get Loud", perhaps if she had different patriotic songs but these two don't really have a supportive point where "Let's Get Loud" makes logical sense. Whereas she is typically an excellent performer the while entertaining effortlessly, this performance didn't come off as anything other than being grandiose and arrogant by the end. The fact that she tossed in "Let's Get Loud" as if at a concert or club; not at the second to last line and just before singing the quietest notes of the song, well, is sort of bass awkwards if you ask me.

@@martincito1662 Fair they were the first Europeans to colonise, but it was the Vikings to be the first to Discover it for Europe. It was of course the Native Tribes to first colonise America. It was so long before even the vikings. Spain certainly has had a greater part to play the history of the Americas.
