You're right that God never makes mistakes, but he also created us with our own natural weaknesses, all of which are contrary to God's will and nature. If we are to progress and become, we have to overcome our natural selves. If we don't need to improve, overcome, progress, from the day we were born, why did we even need to be born?

This is exactly what people don’t understand about being non heterosexual; most of us actually try to be so as to not disappoint the people around us. Is the worst thing anyone has to go through, fighting who you are for fear of losing people that you love. It’s a terrible battle, and some of us have unfortunately do lose love ones because their hateful hearts does not allow them to see beyond sexuality and gender.

The point is understanding how difficult and trying it is to be in environments that discourage you from being who you were born to be, and often times alienate and disgrace you because of it. I’m happy to hear that there are wards that have leadership and members who make LGBTQ individuals and families feel welcome. Despite that, there is no denying how long the road of resolution ahead is regarding LGBTQ equality and LDS teachings and culture.

@@tc4583 Which translation are you reading from? Mine doesn’t say say the word homosexual once. The King James Version says effeminate which is pretty ambiguous unless you translate it literally and think God hates feminine people, which I personally do not. Many biblical scholars have translated this to pedophilia. But you have every right to believe what you want, the way you interpret scripture is between you and God.

@@josephgarner94 I'm using the New King James version but almost every version says the same thing. It's also in line with Leviticus 18:22 which says “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." We also know what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah and how God destroyed the place because of their sin of homosexuality. In fact that's where we get the word sodomy from Sodom. Till this day the place is a desert where brimstone is still found. I can't imagine the struggle but we can't change God's Word to fit what we think is right. Jesus can and has healed those struggling with same sex attraction because it's not what He created clearly because these verses clearly show that. There are demons roaming the earth attacking people in different ways homosexuality is just one of them, others are adultery, fornication, lying, stealing etc. We all need prayers and deliverance in different ways.

Jeff,I am still a member of this church and I really wish that he would stay. I don’t care if you like the same sex, you can still abstain from having relations, single people get to do the same thing. We still have the same desires you have we just know between right and wrong, you don’t have to sin in order to be happy ya know. God loves us still. I know he knows better. This would be hard to overcome, but I know people who like the same gender who don’t give in to temptation because they follow the commandments. We throw away God because we want to satisfy ourselves, we just don’t get to choose the consequences

I love what he said about sex. Life isn't all about sex. Life is about love and love isn't sex. It's caring about and serving others and growing together. It's sad that he thinks he has to leave the church to feel accepted. I don't think that is true, but it feels true to him. We love and accept him. He is an emotional and sensitive person and so am I and I can relate to him as a member of the church. I love David like a son. I just don't want him to go from the covenants he has made. Sometimes we don't always get it and we need to spend so much more time on our knees then we do. God reveals to us who we are when spend the time with him.The mental anguish that we feel is fought in our own heads. David is what he is and we still love him and accept him as he is. I wish, oh how I wish, I could give him a great BIG hug! And tell him that.

As someone who's around the same age as David, I also grew up very religious (Christian) and for a long time I denied who I am. Oh man I relate so much. The countless nights of tears praying for God to "cure" me when I was younger. The constant state of feeling sinful and disgusted. Though I'm not publicly out yet, I've finally accepted myself as gay a year or two ago. I stopped trying to convince myself I was straight or even bi. It's been a long journey and I'm still trying to recover from all the mental mess hiding my identity put me in but I remember the moment I called myself "gay" I felt like so much weight was off my shoulders. Not being out is hard, tho. I still haven't found a community or even friendships that I can confide in. I'm still not able to process this with anyone. It feels lonely but I'm taking it day by day.

God The holy trinity said “It’s not the love that separates us it’s the same love that brings us together. Also god said u will find your identity in me. And finally u are so loved . I’ve struggled with homosexuality and eventually came out when I was 22. After 10 years of living out loud, I felt a deep void inside. And then, at age 33, God called me out of spiritual deadness and made me realize homosexuality was something I am meant to overcome. Life seems to be all about striving for self-worth.
