I watch all your videos, but sometimes there is one that really surpasses the rest. This is certainly one of them! I so appreciate the fact that you list everything you use in the video. Although I considered myself as seasoned in this field, I always find myself in awe of what you come up with to give a card the “wow factor”! I realized you could give much less information and still be a good instructor, but that is the difference between good and GREAT. Thanks so much for being so meticulous by sharing the tips and tricks along the way. This is my first time actually leaving a comment, but this video was just more than I can absorb without acknowledging your over-the-top presentation. Thank you so very much

As a “seasoned“ crafter, every time I watch one of Jennifer’s videos, I Always catch myself saying “why didn’t I think of that”- something as easy as using the corner of a scoreboard to line up acetate and paper overlay so you don’t get glue boogers all over it just floored me!!! thanks Jennifer

One of (the many) differences between Jennifer and myself: she lines up the background die cut on the inside of the card and gets it perfectly! My first several attempts would be off. Beatiful designs and I am going to try with my background dies. TFS!

My comment isn’t specific to any of the products that Jennifer used in this video. It is a comment about how great it is that the techniques Jennifer teaches apply to this one collection of Spellbinders dies and probably lots of other dies as well. Jennifer’s ideas really do work for the dies and stamps we already own. Does anybody else remember or still have in your stash Spellbinders Die D-lites Medallion collection? I think there were 9 in the collection, but I actually have 11 (the extra 2 might be from a different collection) Each medallion has a filigree die and an outline die. The last 3 or 4 of Jennifer’s card videos could easily be accomplished with these dies. It’s like these SB Medallion dies were made for creating surprise gatefold cards. They also work for making layered cards, shaker cards, see-thru cards, ornaments, etc. I’m pretty sure this collection was out before cover dies were popular, but the filigree dies can create the look of cover dies as long as I don’t mind multiple passes through my machine. These dies are almost as versatile as basic rectangle and circle dies. One tip I have for those of you like me who have a tough time thinking about card designs in the abstract is to just make die cuts to play with. I keep a bunch of die cuts to design with. I have a hard time designing in my head so I actually have to design with a hands on approach. I cannot even do what Kristina Werner does---- the arty card sketch-- looks like crap when I try it. Never works for me. Has to be 3D and in my hands for me to be able to design a card. In the last year or two, I started using my dies and stamps in my art journal. For new dies and stamps, I use them first in my art journals just for play. So I’m not creating a finished piece but instead I am practicing specific techniques to see if it works well with a particular stamp or die. Art journals used to be for practice before mixed media enthusiasts turned them into an end in themselves. The other thing I do is index my art journal pages. I photograph the page and then tag the photos. I have tags for manufacturers, techniques, idea sourcing, colors, creative challenges, etc. This way I can search the tags on my photos just like you can search hashtags on social media. When I post cards in Facebook groups and online galleries, my tags make it easier to give credit to the creators who taught me the technique as well as list the manufacturers of the supplies I used. Tags also help when I’m stuck for an idea and it’s better than an internet search because it’s specific to my own stash. Spellbinders July 2020 Small Die of the Month set (trellis and floral images) will be brilliant combined with this video’s see-thru card ideas. Also I never thought of using my medallion dies as a background for another image until I saw this video. Jennifer really does deserve all of the praise she receives. If you can find Spellbinders Medallion Die D-lites on Etsy or eBay, I highly recommend buying some.

I wish I'd seen this video before I gave in and bought two sets of layering stamps. I'd have gotten a lot more for my money if I'd used it for layering stencils. Oh well, at least I know now that when my budget allows me to get a few new additions to my stash, I should go for layering stencils instead of investing in more stamps.
