Jennifer - I have watched your videos for years, and am always inspired by your creativity. I often find myself clicking on your links to supplies and tools to purchase the latest and greatest - and this video is no exception! THANK YOU for providing your reviews and techniques, I look forward to each video. ALSO, those of you who have been in the paper crafting world for a while might have the Lifestyle Letterpress plastic plates. THEY WILL WORK in this BetterPress system! You need to remove all three shims from the chase and use the adhesive sheets that typically came with the plates to temporarily adhere them to the platform. Sooooo much easier than the ink rolling you used to have to do! So excited to revive my old stash with this new tool!!

I was taught to use a letter press with a roller when I was in college. We made our own plates. When I received a text message from SB about it - I wondered if my etched plates would work with it - I sent SB an email asking for the thickness of their plates - I definitely think they will work by what they told me - but I decided shortly prior to their response to pre-order it, without knowing if it would be a good match or not. I felt it would be a good tool in my crafting arsenal to have. But their response that arrived 5 days later is just icing on the cupcake! 😀

I have a particular fondness for "letterpress" having been an actual offset press operator who was also a real phototypesetter, and a by-hand technical illustrator + camera operator, all the trades supporting graphic design, all prior to the release of the personal computer (which seemed to make "everyone" into a graphic designer, lol...) I can't see the difference between this press and using a regular cutting die to make an impression. We can use our cutting dies machine and our cutting dies with a rubber mat to get the same results. You've shown it many times on your channel.

Hi Jennifer, I have one of these on order from the mom & pop reseller I go to. In the class I watched, you can replace the shims, bottom plate and cover plate with standard plates then you can die cut with it. You NEVER want to use the shims and plates that come with the unit for die cutting. You can also use it as a platform to stamp with our regular stamps. Washers from the hardware store work great to hold down the paper.

Oh my, oh WOW! I saw my first video of this Betterpress machine this morning by Simon Hurley - and ordered it, more paper, and another plate right away. (I have been making cards for so many years that I am very eager to find NEW ways to make different types of cards. I’ve been searching for and making mostly new fun fold cards lately, just something to make my cards more interesting. This machine also fits the bill for me!) I remember back when I got my first big shot. It came with letter press dies, Ink, and a brayer. I was new to card making at the time, so didn't use it to It's full potential. Thank you for the wonderful intro. Because of my budget, I stopped buying new systems and still apply foil with my laminator!!! I may consider this system because it performs multiple functions. As long as you don't have to use their proprietary ink and paper, it might be affordable. Want to see more....

I have been stamping for a long time and I remember when the first letter press machine came out. I thought it was a disaster as all the little plastic letters could float away and not impress properly. Sizzix had a plastic plate that worked very well and I still have those. I must admit this looks awesome and I especially love the fact that the plates can be used with the Glimmer machine, which I was able to get at Hobby Lobby. Sadly, Hobby Lobby has turned its back on stampers and scrap bookers and gotten rid of all of their diecutting machines and plates, except for the Circuit. How ridiculous; I have three craft stores in my city and all three of them only sell the Cricut! Anyway, I realized the surfaces are different and they do different things, but it gets too expensive when you have to have separate plates for every machine. Interchangeability is the key! I will put this on my wish list, but can’t get it until the economy gets much better. Hopefully after the 2024 election!
