So many ideas! I like the distress original inked backgrounds the best. Guess I too like the contrast best. But they all would work just fine sent to someone! They would love them! Thank you Jennifer. I would really enjoy another sit down with You and K Werner doing some techniques together. The last one was really good!

I love your videos so much. I'm not big on inks, but happened to turn this video on anyway. Even if I have no interest in the technique itself, I enjoy watching your cards come together. But you also explain things so well that I think I could totally do this, despite it not being what I usually do! I may give it a try soon!

@Jennifer McGuire Ink • Thank you so much for doing these side-by-side comparisons using the same techniques but different types of ink. The fact that you used the same color inks was brilliant because it removed the color variable and just showcased the different looks each ink produces. And, although I liked the results with added color, I think my favorite background was the monochromatic look of the Distress Ink with just water misted over the stencil (14:53) before you added color. (But I'm a big fan of monochromatic backgrounds.) Thank you for putting so much thought and effort into displaying these techniques and the results on different inks. And by no means an afterthought, the banner cards using these backgrounds were wonderful and a nice change from the usual rectangle. You provided us with clear and easy to follow directions that will make creating these banner cards simple. The butterflies were a great focal point but you're right that many other designs would work well. There are many great leaf stamps out now just for starters. Thanks again. 👍

Fantastic! When you first showed the cards, they almost look like glitter paper was used (the water spray must leave a little tiny dot pattern). Very cool looking! Butterflies are my fav too! The one with the flower frenzy stamp is my fav. TYFS! ❤️🦋💜

Wonderful technique, I can’t wait to try this. And I LOVE the banner shape cards. That is so fun, very different from the normal rectangle. I have some banner edge dies with scallops I could use to for it. Love it! Thank you for such wonderful ideas Jennifer, as always. And Lila came up with the perfect name for the technique. 🙂

Oh. Me too. Never thought of doing this before. I have quite a few edge dies that I could use. And I have a die set designed to cut the top edge of a pocket that could be used to cut the bottom of a card as well. Thanks for the great idea.

What a great idea. I find it amazing how you continue to think of unique ideas. I understand the two inks are different but I would have never guessed the Distress Ink would be so much darker than the Distress Oxide. I like the look of the Distress Ink with this technique but I admit I prefer the Distress Oxide better. The Distress Oxide leaves a greater visual effect which I find more appealing (imo). I'll bet you and Lila (sp ?) have so much fun playing crafts together! What special time you will both remember forever. On a personal note; I know you're an Engineer by trade so you're obviously good with math but are you musically talented as well? My mom has her Master's in Music and taught at the college level. She always noticed that people who had good math and art skills seemed to do better in music than those who didn't do as well in math and art (can't remember if math, music, art people are left or right brain - lol). I myself took piano lessons for over 10 years and was very good but I HATED math (my 6th grade teacher actually made me cry in class and I will never forget that!). I'm not writing a book (lol). I'm just curious!!! TFS

Jennifer! My mind is whirling from all the possibilities for this technique. Have you tried mixing up distress ink and distress oxide? Like ink base and water oxide layer and vice versa. I feel like it might give the technique 2 more different looks which would be really fun. For the stencil technique, i think it would add even more dimension if you run the stencil and inked paper through the die cutting machine for a dry emboss look, that would make the layered ink blend pop so much! Haven’t felt this inspired in a long time, now I’m itching to try the techniques along with the ideas I have. Tfs

I ❤️ the way you wrote ‘unicaorn’ @22:33. How many sheets of paper can one new container of distress inks ink, I wonder, before needing to reink. Just to try all the colours would be interesting.
@jennifermcguireink2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm.. no idea but these distress inks/oxides are ones where I think having the reinkers is good. Such a relatively inexpensive way to not have to keep buying new ink pads.

If you added pigment powder to the water would the reaction be the same just shiny or would it react completely differently?

It should react similarly but give it a try!
@1156Treecat2 жыл бұрын
Jennifer, can you use this technique with water color cardstock?
@jennifermcguireink2 жыл бұрын
It will work differently because the ink will sink down into the paper vs sitting more on top. But you can try it and see if you like the look.

@@jennifermcguireink Thank you!

Can you use other brands of dye ink with this technique?
@jennifermcguireink2 жыл бұрын
The inks I used were oxides which are a combination of dye and pigment. The pigment properties are what makes this work so well. You can always try it with other inks and see if you like the effect but it will be different.
