Oh no!! I I hope you saw the last few minutes during the credits. That was very satisfying. Well I laughed a lot at this reaction. 😂 Much confusion. A few potential answers: - The band seemed to be casting some kind of spell when they played their song. I assume that’s part of why many seemed to be in a trance, though a lot of things in this movie also are just quirky or a slightly exaggerated version of reality. Like how a teenage girl might actually be mesmerized by a rock star and people might react to horror with shock instead of action. 1/2

- “Sandbox love never dies;” the blood shared when kids seemed to connect Jennifer and “Needy”. That’s how she knew that Jennifer was at the pool and seemingly defeated her by tearing off their friendship necklace. It also represents ending their intense, homoerotic “friendship.” Jennifer only stopped herself from harming Needy, in the end, perhaps being more dependent on Needy (and putting her down) than the reverse. It is definitely a strange movie, ostensibly a comedy horror. I do find it to be an interesting meditation on trauma, abuse, and gender roles. Jennifer never gets revenge on the men who offed her, but attacks innocent boys. They aren’t portrayed as deserving her wrath; it’s adults who take advantage of her (like Chris Pratt’s character and the band). You might like it more if you watched it again down the road, or not! It’s hard to know how to feel about it lol. 2/2
