OH MY GOSH, Fiona! That pin cushion is sooo beautiful & elegant! I learn so much from you & you make me laugh. You're a joy to watch! 😊 👍 💕

This is great! I never knew that creating a little stuffed pillow with a glue gun would be durable enough to last! This is really encouraging and gives me lots of ideas! I've made jewelry for many years and have recently developed problems with my fine motor function so I've had to stop alot of the metalwork I used to do. Am looking for ways to create some new lines and I think this might just be a technique I can still do. Looking forward to getting some lace and embellishments. I love the gathered stuff you used around the edges. It really gives the piece an elegant look!

That's beautiful! I'm so glad you said what you said about some over-doing the "shabby chic" and ruining it. I thought I was the only one that noticed! Speak up folks!

I really do love what you do. I have always loved shabby chic. I’m getting into it a little more. So I’m really learning a lot from you’re videos. Thank you for sharing, and teaching me.

AHEMMMM! PARDON ME...BUT, I HAVE A HUGE BONE TO PICK WITH YOU! I stumbled upon your videos yesterday afternoon, and short of an hours "shabby wink" of sleep, I HAVE BEEN GLUED (literally, nose to screen) BINGE WATCHING NON-STOP!!!! I CANNOT HELP MYSELF! So, please stop being so excessively, remarkably, incredibly talented and intriguing!!! :) ...Hello, Ms. Fiona! I am Laura. A new subbie and an awe-striken admirer of your artistic abilities. Forgive the long commentary, but I want to extend my ENORMOUS gratitude to you. A very long story short... I am a 50 year old single mom from the states, to a four year old Autistic son, diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago (unable to get surgery or treatment, as I have no care for my little mister)! I went through losing everything (home and all that was in it) shortly before my sons diagnosis (2 days prior to mine) we were essentially homeless. Through blessings and kind donations (and roadside finds), we have been able to find a mobile home (very poor condition in a very "ack" community) and as much as that is wonderful... I received additional diagnoses of Emphysema, kidney and spinal disease. HOWEVER...MY SON IS A TREASURE ON HIS OWN...SO I CARRY ON! I have been in a horrible depression and in pain always. Things around my home are tidy, but dont say "our nest". I thought of styles I like, and vintage victorian shabby chic, have always been so cozy snd soothing to me. Which is how I stumbled upon your channel. I thought perhaps I could make a pillow, cone, flowers strewn about? BUTTT...after binge watching so many of six years of shabbylisciousness...I can pretty much have my entire shiny shabby shack of my dreams! For the first time in all this time of struggle... I feel entirely uplifted, inspired, (joy cryong) and in our little world? That..is EPIC!!!! I cannot convey enough how immeasurably thankful to you I am. I wish I could buy out everything in yout boutique as a show of thanks, but unfortunately I cannot. So... the next best thing I can do is to do my bit in possibly helping bring customers. Before my illness, I spent many years employed in the small business sales and marketing industries. Prior to my finding you, I skimmed through younger generation of KZbinr's channels as well as pinterest. I noticed that our classic shabby chic (still wildly popular) has new generation variations/categories that are the height of the multi million dollar interior design, home decor, wedding/event 'markets". Though they (in my opinion) pale in comparison, they say that "imitation is the greatest form of flattery", and lining the pockets a wee bit couldn't hurt either. So, the new shabby categories are as follows: 'Rustic Chic'. Think organic natural wood elements, monochromatic in appearance with an occassional pop of pink, green-grays, matte earthy tones, Amnesia roses, aged gardenia shades, deep plums, burlap, branches, dried flowers, twine, vine, wood and metalic or glittered tree wood slices, logs. Bits of antiqued finishes, bronze and silver vases, frames, fixtures. Shabby meets lumberjack. Then there is "French Country Chic" (or " Shabby Glam"), This is colors in blush, champagne, golds, bronze, Rose Gold, Ivory and creams. Paris meets old hollywood, meets Victorian. Mirrored furniture Pantones color of the year. ballet slipper pink, (aka blush) dusty rose, (aka champagne pink) mirrors, glass and clear accents. Farmhouse Chic: chalk paints creamy distressed whites, paris grey, vintage books, pitchers, many classic shabby chic items without lace and ribbon and essentially planked wood and roses burlab ribbons and gardenia seem popular. Finally, there is Coastal Chic which is simply a shabby cottage inspired chic, using jeweled shells, starfish, seahorse, seafan, and coral. Pastel chalky and shimmery pallets of color and decor. It may be worth giving a search online a go. The most popular online shops these trenders shop are West Elm and Z Gallerie. I know you can put there decor to shame and generate a new client base by adding additional "branches" to the shabby chic tree! You are a true Artist and an ABSOLUTE gem! Thank you with all my heart!

I think shabby chic should look the way the one making it, so if hey like layers then it should be the way they want it. Unless of course they’re making it for a mother person.
@JenningsCraftsBoutique6 жыл бұрын
Of course, but I get asked so many times 'what is Shabby-chic?' I chose to do this video kzbin.info?o=U&video_id=11NxuDpOBfc To explain what Shabby Chic actually means, but like you say if folk want to add more and more then that's there choice. But Shabby Chic does have a definition, hence this video link :0)
