in this video my daughter and I show you how a wire lampshade is soldered. In the second part, the lamp is covered with fabric or paper. rebuilding allowed ;-) be creative and try other shapes!

This was probably the most helpful video I’ve come across so far, but I still don’t understand why nobody seems to want to actually explain to us how to bend a piece of wire into the shape of a circle and solder it together, like it’s some kind of closely guarded secret.

Take a traffic cone, fill it up with quikrete and let it cure over night. Remove concrete from traffic cone. Bend wire roughly into the shape of a circle and solder/weld it. File the joint down to roughly the same diameter as the rest of your wire/tubing. Put the ring over your new concrete cone and gently tap down all sides of the ring with a soft hammer until you have a "perfect" circle.

Dig it, been researching on stained glass, with first project lamps, anticipating that soldering wont be enough and that to get the form factors in mind, brazing is the way.

From title and thumbnail I imagined that it will be classical marine/industrial style lamp protective cage and was surprised by it size at first. Also, chinese background music and release near Chinese New Year. Would shade be red with gold dragons?:)

Its cool, when the light is off we can see the shadow of the wire, when its light up the shadow disapear...
