This was such a GREAT episode and the perfect place to end mid-season. Ian's character development has truly impressed me over the years. I've heard others say that he's not tough enough or doesn't embody the power/danger of 'book Ian'. However, I think he's organically grown into the part and does exude 'grown man' energy, and his warrior mode on the battlefield and/or defending his family is fantastic! I see so much of Jamie in Ian, almost like he's Jamie's son. This season has been top notch! I think it's my favorite after S1! Counting the days til Part 2 begins!!

Loved this episode and (as always) your recap! Totally with you about the show's choice to not amputate Jamie's finger. It's a relatively minor detail that would be a significant pain for the actor/makeup/prosthetics team to deal with every episode going forward. No biggie there, as all key Jamie/Claire talking points were mentioned throughout his surgery. Now that Roger and Buck have gone through the stones to rescue Jemmy, we'll get to glimpse who's going to play Jamie's parents in the STARZ prequel BUT I'm not looking forward to seeing New Jenny. I'm sure the actress replacing her will do a fine job, but Laura Donnelly was just the perfect Jenny. As for Ian and Rachel, I loved their kissing scene and how the show juxtaposed this with the chilling encounter she has with Arch Bug-a fantastic addition! And oh my god, when I tell you I cried at the end of this episode...the second I heard Griogair Labhruidh singing "I am tired of this exile" as Jamie gazes upon his beloved Scotland for the first time in 10 years. The tears were real.

This episode was really brutal with all the fighting. You know what was my favorite moment? When Claire fixed Jamie's hand. When she finished she smiled so brightly and looked up at him as if she was saying "See i did it! " and then she lay next to him and kissed him. Moments like these where we get to see how in love they are are my favorites! Also i can't wait for the rest of the season! It will be so much more interesting.

That was a good episode, very satisfying 😊And I'm glad I got my 'Jamie shot William's hat off' scene and the scenes after of Jamie talking to William and giving him a hat back. Ian was really shining this season I think, and all the new actors, for me, are so great! I didnt realize that the Battle of Saratoga went on for a month (or forgot), makes more sense now. I found it funny that Jamie was faring better at sea this time around, compared to the deaths door thing he usually has going on. And Ian missing his dog was such a cute, relatable moment. Jenn, love the recaps as always!

It’s been a helluva season. An Outlander reinvigoration. Thank you for both your book and show insights. I hate Droughtlander, and look forward to seeing 7B, and your insights on that, next year. ❤❤

Great recap! All of the castings have been posted - unless they are keeping it a surprise, Tobias isn’t casted but so many people were announced. S7B is doing to be amazing!

I thoroughly enjoyed the recap and the book comparison. Ian and Rachel's scene gave me the feelings!! Ian was so manly, which was hard for me to see earlier, but this scene made all the difference. I am so worried about Bree, Rogers, and the kids (I didn't mind the spoiler. In fact, I welcomed it. Knowing a bit of what to come would make watching the rest of the season less stressful.). Thank you again, and please keep making the Outlander's videos.

I loved this episode and I can’t wait for the next half of the season. So many great moments in here and I love how much the writers are using the actual dialogue from the books. The only thing I had a hard time with was Ian and Rachel’s interaction in the tent. His line about “I’ll take you right here” I just found so awkward and ick… Thanks so much for doing these recaps! My favorite content on your channel!

No, they haven't teased any scenes from the 1730's BUT they did announce (long, long ago) some of the actors coming back. Graham McTavish, Lotte Verbeek, Andrew Whipp (Brian Fraser) were mentioned. And of course, Steven Cree (Ian Sr.), Nell Hudson (Laohaire), Layla Burns (Joan MacKimmie) that Jamie, Claire and Ian will see in the 1770's. SO looking forward to the return of Lord John! I feel like the William - Dottie scheme might have been nixed but I wonder if they'll include any of Hal and his kids..??? I do kind-of love Hal and his interactions with Claire.

Do you think Clair's backstory will ever be told? I'm wondering if Diana will reveal what happened to Clair's parents and why she can travel through the stones. BTW, I love your channel!
@Adrienne1eh Жыл бұрын
Yes, I hope she gets there eventually! Maybe in book 10?? I can't believe that the name Percy Wainwright uses (Beauchamp) is a complete coincidence. His wife's family in France also lives in Compiegne, where I think Claire's ancestors are from (unless she just made that up when telling Colum back in S1).

Unfortunately diana has said she isn't interested in Claire's backstory. And that is why she made Claire not have any family left when we meet her. She just wanted Claire to get to the past and start her story

I read today on Facebook where someone posted that Maril Davis has said in an interview that Fergus and Marsali won't be in S7. I don't know how correct that information is , but it would be sad . I love especially Marsali , the actress was brilliant. It could be because Lauren Lyle has now her own series . We will have to wait and see which side actors will all be involved in 7.2. The only thing that I wonder about is what makes Claire going back to America since in the book the reason is Henri Christian why she returned . Perhaps the show gives another reason. Someone else said, that we won't see Marsali and Fergus again and possibly not in S8., because of Lauren's show . Obviously Maril Davis spoke about it . Here is a statement : Whenever the second half premieres, what new characters might be introduced? And what about a possible return for Marsali and Fergus? " We won't actually have Marsali and Fergus in the back half, which is sad, and I regret that we don't have them in this season. But there are some younger characters that we're going to see in the back half, that maybe William gets involved with, [including] some younger actresses that I'm excited for people to see…including the Jane and Fanny characters that are coming up. They're so good and they add to the tension of the second half of the season as well. "

I did see this... I'm actually thinking of doing a video on it maybe. I think they are hinting at still having the Germain storyline and maybe just mentioning the parents.... we shall see. I'm sure they'll find another good reason for Claire to return. Maybe Lizzie will need her for a hard birth instead? It's tough, but unless they recast.. there's not much they can do. 😬
@irisclaudia3670 Жыл бұрын
@@TheBookRefuge It would be great to see you continuing Outlander content, if possible, more thoughts, on books and show in the next months. Yours is basically the only in-depth , deep dive content. You could go back and give episode by episode reviews on S1-4, like you did with S5-7 . Or just tell tell us more what you feel about the books in particular. Right now I am reading book 8 ( German ) and started book 1 Outlander, for the first time in English . And thanks to you and your views I get new, surprsing perspectives that I hadn't seen or considered before. I am not coming from the romance genre, so Outlander can claim to be extraordinary and unique . I know Outlander is much more than romance with J and C are the bread and butter and heart and soul of the saga, and all the other wonderful, sweet relationships around them. But this is where Outlander is so good for me personally, it has more than just romance and provides a world more of interesting subjects . Anyway, whatever you are willing to do in other Outlander videos , I am here for it and will be forever grateful to you .

I’m sorry that Outlander doesn’t do well for you, I think thats insane because Outlander is awesome and really popular, would it hurt you to do outlander stuff on reels on Instagram or similar? I love Buck, I’m obsessed 😂 I really hope the shows utilises him because I honestly think he’s great, even just his expressions. The episode prior to this one, Buck is just sat with the kids in the camper chilling and 80’s Roger (hot AF) comes bursting in, just the expressions cracked me up. I love how Buck is like, I will go with you, you’re kin, the little nod to Bree and the around the back hold going through the stones, I’m honestly in love with this casting. I know we’re not meant to exactly like Buck, but I can’t help it. This weeks episode was just so brilliant , so much happened and it was great. I’m glad we didn’t cut off Jamie’s finger and I think the show did well on showing it might have to happen. I am a huge Young Ian fan, He’s so good, in every scene he’s just amazing I think. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t crying balling at the end, J&C on the boat and Scotland land, that really was beautiful and I was balling 😂 Jamie is a highlander and he’s wanted Scotland for so long, and I honestly feel bad for how he’s pushed and pulled into not quite getting there when he wanted. I think this season was so string, for book readers and non book readers, I don’t think there was any slow episodes, it was just fantastic and waiting for part B is going to suck, I’m hoping for spring 2024. I think some episode ranking could be fun, favourite Jamie and Claire moments from book/show or both could be fun with show clips included. What you’re looking forward to seeing in part B or the next season. I have loved outlander since 1996 when I read it for the first time at any at 16 (I just turned 43) seeing it on screen really is a like a dream come true. I think I’m due a re read from book 1, maybe that’s something I can start in September, seeing autumn and winter through with a slow read. Love your outlander content, keep it coming (if it doesn’t hurt too much) ❤
