Jack Benny Program: Jack Goes To A Concert (Guests Mr and Mrs Jimmy Stewart)

In this episode, originally broadcast December 11, 1960, Jack takes his girlfriend Mildred to a black-tie violin recital, even though she would rather go see a boxing match. Rochester tries to help Jack dress, but some unlikely problems arouse, including a mistaken delivery. At the concert, Jack spies the Stewarts below and tries to get their attention by pelting them with Mildred's peanuts, but the Stewarts leave. Bored with the recital, Mildred listens to the fight in a different way.

It's so interesting that once TV came around Rochester was an even more important part of the show because of his talent. I love Mildred. That he could always stayed in character was amazing. He could walk that line between making you uncomfortable and relaxed always was so great.

The dame with the shapely frame is Barbara Nichols. She could never escape her dim-witted, sex-symbol image, but made the best of it and had some good comedy parts, like this one. She died of liver disease at age 47.
