My husband and I moved to Texas with my mother (Houston area) and the Cuban food here...there is no Cuban food here (not really). So every Thanksgiving I make pork or ham croquetas, pasteles de carne, lechon, and arroz con frijoles negros. If I am feeling frisky, I make pan Cubano. Mom makes the flan. And we have a Cuban feast. My South Africa husband absolutely loves it. Thank goodness.

Well, I live here in SoCal, but I'm of Cuban and Colombian heritage. I have family in Hialeah, so when I go visit it is a must to bring back guava, guanabana, chorizo español, dried bacalao, canned squid in ink, jars of papa criolla, pandebono mix, dried guascas etc. long story short I fly Southwest (2 checked bags fly free!) out there with one suitcase half full of my stuff and fly back with a suitcase and a half full of groceries. Btw I love your work Jenny! You're awesome! From a half Cubanita fan! ❤️

I know it's not fully Spanish related, but when I moved to Indiana and then, Idaho, from my homestate of PA, I had the hardest time finding three things...... 1. The "Ethnic" section of any given grocery store(back home anything Spanish/Chinese/Jewish/etc. related foods were grouped together in one section. Same goes for ethnic hair products. Idaho...not so much.). You want Goya products? Good luck....they're usually scattered all throughout the store, if they have any at all😧. And forget trying to find the frozen Goya pastry shells to make pastelleos(hopefully I spelled that right). 2. Cheese steak meat and frozen perogies! I'm not from Philly, nor am I PA Dutch, but dang it, I love me some SteakUmms and Mrs. T perogies! I managed to find the SteakUmms, but the perogies are not Mrs.T and the ones they do offer are so sad, it's a waste of money to buy them! 3. Wawa's, Sheetz, and Turkey Hill Has Stations. Nope, sorry, no Turkey Hill tea OR Icy Tea for me, either! 😭 *Bonus* 4. Dunkin' Donuts. Nope. None in the entire state. Thank goodness we have family that can(hopefully) bring us some goodies from our home state sometimes! That takes the sting out of leaving a lil' less harsh. Good video! Blessings to you!

My mom's Peruvian and Inca Kola with some pollo ala brasa is like having fried chicken and a coca cola in the south. But unfortunately, there is no grocery store that sells Inca Kola and zero pollo ala brasa or Peruvian restaurants in the area. There was a restaurant in the mall that sold something similar to pollo ala brasa and had Inca Kola but they closed down the first year I moved here.
