Jenny, I have been a fan of yours for years, but I don’t think I am your typical follower as I am 63 years old and a retired teacher. You inspire me to live my best life. Keep doing what you do. Analyzing and thinking out loud about your life. It helps so many. Wishing you and David all good things.

Omg the being 100% alone is a feeling I can so relate. It really affects me when I can’t get even a little bit to myself. And I’m not talking about working alone but just chilling in my own house completely on my own. It’s so good to get to know yourself well enough that you can tell what it is that you need to feel better 😊

Dear Jenny, would you ever consider doing a video on loneliness in adulthood, building friendships as an adult moving abroad and how you found "your people", or just started feeling comfortable in your own skin as someone who chooses to live a more unusual path? I would be really interested in hearing about your experience and how you dealt with this topic. I am a 20-year-old introverted and sensitive girl who loves books, meaningful experiences, and friendships, but I think it is hard to find like-minded people. Would love to hear about your experience. :) Sending lots of love to you and David

Today I went for a haircut and shave. I have been riding my road racing bike a few times per week for the last two years. I have been losing weight intentionally and in the last two years I have lost eleven kilograms. I have time off work at the moment for a few months and it gives me the time to be thoughtful about everything - life, work, exercise, diet, social, friends, hobbies, avoiding stress, work life balance, etc I can definitely feel that I am lighter not just on the scales and I will plan on losing more slowly and sustainably and I can already fit into pairs of jeans that I couldn't do two years ago. Your videos and channel is amazing I just discovered recently. Loving your work. Very artistic and creative. You talk so much sense, my new favourite place on KZbin Best wishes from Wales .

Minimising task switching is a great great tip for people with multiple commitments. I work full time (work I love) and also have a creative project which is almost another full time job (which I also love). Recently I started working in chunks and switching only once per day (I cant quite do months switches but it still helps).

I currently try to compartmentalize for a different reason than you. I'm 55 and my mom is 89. Like it or not, I'm now primarily a caregiver like many of us, usually wom 12:52 en, are thrust into at mid-life. I love my mom. The caregiving can easily become all of my time with her, but I try to make time for helping her and time for just hanging out and doing things together as separate things. Doesn't always work out that way but I try. It was a therapist's suggestion and a good one.

Love these kinds of videos! I’m definitely more nocturnal and prefer focusing on one bigger project, maybe two, at a time. I recently returned to college after a long stint away for my health and it has been so nice but a bit overwhelming at times. I’m focused entirely on school so I’m lucky not to be splitting my time with work, but I’m taking 6 classes (17 credits). Having to split my time and energy and focus on 6 different topics has been tough, but I’m enjoying the challenge. What I have been implementing informally is taking a whole day i don’t have classes to focus on just one class, knocking out as many assignments as I can so I get a couple weeks ahead. I start with classes that are more strict about due dates and then work my way through the rest over the span of about two weeks, it’s been a lot easier for me than trying to keep up with all the due dates for all the classes.

Hi Jenny, I just wanted to say that this video is sooo relatable. I have been struggling with the anxiety that comes with being pulled in different directions and not being able to compartmentalise, I love the idea of taking a few months to give myself permission to do just one thing! I always love your content, Jenny. Today includes coffee in bed, and inspiring content, yours included, to help keep me grounded, while giving me great ideas for how to appreciate and make small moments special. Finding balance, and creating small moments of joy, through luxurious slow living inspired rituals, like giant batches of tea, a stack of good books, cozy socks and candles, are definitely such a novelty, and something I'm very grateful in the fall. Soup is one of my favourite ways to stay healthy, especially as the cooler temps come on. Strangely, I've even loved thai soup for breakast- a giant pot of steamy broth with lemongrass + herbs + I even sometimes prefer a delicious homemade broth instead of tea, for days I feel sluggish, and just need that extra pick-me-up. Sending love from Northern Canada. I appreciate you. XO

Always been an introvert, having one whole day completely for myself in a week is paramount for my mental health. I've always loved the idea of living communally, but I really can't, I'm too highly aware of other peoples needs so I disregard my own when I'm with others. Really found this out when I had a resque cat for 4months. It was hell, my mental health spiraled hard. The cat was fine, but I just can't live with another being constantly in my space. Maybe a snake, as they don't need interaction, but cats are very social creatures! The one I had was "timid, lazy and doesn't play", well I'm sort of "by the book" person when it comes to new things so I researched cat behaviour and made sure to stick to a routine with feedings and I started playing with her, which meant I just played with the toy by myself for around 15minutes twice every day, while she hid under the bed for the first three days. First it was a paw, then finally she emerged completely to chase the toy. So, she did play, she was very social and affectionate, no one had just ever given been patient enough to let her feel safe first. But I realised that the problem was me, our relationship got better but my mental health declined and I knew it was because I had no space just for myself. So I made sure to find her a good forever home. Everyone's different but I've always felt most like myself when I'm alone, even as a little kid.

Hi Jenny, I have a few explosive no-go combos I avoid to not make things worse: little sleep & alcohol for example. Actually, alcohol in general😅I startet to prepare sleep duration a week ahead of a stressfull phase. In autumn and winter time I am in for a nappucchino (coffee, fall asleep within 10mins, nap for 20mins). I try to do healthy habits (running, yoga) with other people friends/family members - because I am human and I am lazy, but I am loyal😅

Oh girl, I'm like you - I like working on one big project for a few months at a time. As a freelance editor / proofreader, it's not always possible, but I'm so happy when it happens. This year has been very chaotic for me in a sense that I've been away a lot. And then it takes time for me to get back into my groove and my routines. I feel like you were talking directly to me in this video :) Less stress, fewer distractions. I live alone and my kitty cat is my natural alarm clock, but I'd also love to do afternoon walks to just get out of the house before we get snowed in here in Nova Scotia. :)

I can relate to needing to be alone...I can't completely let go of being aware of another person and hence not truly be in my own space unless I'm alone. It's not the other person, it's my awareness of them that is distracting. You're fortunate to have a partner who understands you and that you can share independence within the partnership. Been watching your channel since the early days and love/respect/learn so much from you! By the way, have you ever done the Meyers Brigg personality test? If so, what are you, if you don't mind me asking? I relate with so much of your personality and I"m an INFJ so wondering if you are? Suggestions.... you haven't done an organization type video in a long time so that would be cool. Or how you decide outfits? Love all your videos and David, of course! xo :)

Sleep cycle - great question. For almost 15 years now, I have been waking up 98 % of my mornings without an alarm. I have noticed that my sleep changes with the season. In summertime I go to bed at around 11 pm and I wake up at around 7. In wintertime I get tired around 8 pm and wakes up at around 6 am. I live in Denmark, so the winter is quite dark, and the summer nights are very bright and lovely.

I wish I could have a life without alarms but my job doesn't allow it, I don't have a fixed schedule. But on the other hand, when I was a student, during the timeframes where I didn't have classes I didn't set an alarm and I ended up waking up at 10 am and going to bet at like 2 am and honestly I didn't like it, I felt bad about it and always tried to change it but it was hard. Now I must wake up early most days, not always at the same time so I have to set the alarm but at least I regularly become sleepy at a decent time. And on my days off I don't set an alarm and if I sleep a bit more I don't feel bad about it because it's my rest day.

My partner of 25 years is 16 years older than me and will retire within the next 2 years. I'll continue to work, and the deal is that I get one full day in the house by myself. That means he needs to be out by 7.30am and home by 5.00pm. And he's happy to do it as he'll get time alone when I work in the office two days a week. So, your desire to have even a little time to yourself is completely normal.

This Autumn I want to take the time of reading more books, rather than just a couple of pages now and then. Also now that I have finished my 12 week training, I want to be baking more, as this is something I find relaxing and there are plenty of recipes I want to bake again and try this season. My sleep I would say is not the best, I definitely prefer being up later and waking up around 7 am. To do this, I decided to switch my morning job this year after the school summer holidays from cleaning 6-8am, to 6-7:30/8pm instead. This has not only helped me with my sleep, but I don't feel as depressed or sad when I wake up at 5 am every morning.
