Jenny, your video on AD is more than interesting! You're giving insights for us "normal" people that can help us be more useful to our friends with SCI. Thanks for putting this video together.

It’s the absolute worst when my brother was in rehab. Thank God for OT and PT especially OT they recognized everything with his positioning, bowel management, dressing, OT even came to our house and set it up for him. Wish you all the best.

How do you handle AD if a patient has a severe stage 4 decubitus ulcer causing daily fevers and sweating? Stage 4 ulcer on a T4 complete SCI patient?
@JennySmithRollsOn3 жыл бұрын
I’m not a doctor so I don’t feel comfortable answering that question directly. One important question is the person experiencing an increased body temperature or just sweating? If there’s a fever, it’s possible that the wound is infected. In the past I’ve experienced sweating after surgery from the pain. It’s typically accompanied with shaking. Pain meds will usually decrease the symptoms. I hope you’re working with a very good wound care doctor. I have an upcoming video on pressure sores. Been there done that. It’s not fun!

@@JennySmithRollsOn thank you no wound care doctor as of yet, home health wound care nurse. Yes, there are fevers, sweating and shaking - results from wound culture are pending. As a mom and caregiver it is very frustrating and scary situation so it’s great to hear from others in the same situation with answers to some of my biggest questions and concerns.

I know this may be a dumb question, but Is surgery an option.
@JennySmithRollsOn Жыл бұрын
No, unfortunately, medication and awareness are the only options at this time. For low blood pressure, there's been some research that shows epidural stimulators are helpful.

@@JennySmithRollsOn Yeah, talk about awareness, I've had it for 30 years and my doctors have always thought it was anxiety, I just now learned about the term a month ago and of course it explains the low body temperature and the bizarre headaches and blood pressure spikes.
