WHAT is banana powder and WHY should I use it?

Have you ever heard of the old school banana powder? Maybe you're wondering what is banana powder? Well, banana powder has been around since the 1960’s when famous makeup artist Ben Nye introduced it to the makeup world.
There are a lot of companies making similar powders with a yellow tint but a lot of people are curious as to why they should wear it and what does it do exactly??
A setting powder in general is helpful to knock off shine and set liquid makeup in place, but the iconic banana powder goes a step further for the complexion. One example that I discuss in this video is that banana powder helps brighten up dark circles under the eyes. Think about it. Yellow is a perfect compliment to purple. The reddish, purple that we label as dark circles can be brightened with this finely milled powder.

However, I have PALE rings under my eyes as opposed to dark ones, it sounds galore but believe me it can still make me look tired and unwell! thanks for introducing more products that are simply about the product not the packaging! these days powders and compacts are huge and a bit of product! ofc theres inflation.. but i just got a powder with a mirror thats $22 AUD and only 10g! i really should look for bottle products like these so that i can refill the pan of my compact

Hmm what a nice pretty face. I have googled banana powder as it is one of the ingredients on the list for a Marks and Spencer breakfast cereal topper. It has got hemp seeds, linseed, chia seeds(all roasted). Chopped mulberries, goji berries, agave syrup acai powder, calcium from seaweed and of course, banana powder. The name of it is 'Get Going Berry Boost' in case anybody is interested and it is £3.00 for six portions approximately. I have not used it yet but i pour vanilla oatly over porridge oats and leave to soak for about an hour then add a banana and now this topper along with anything else i decide to add to it. The oatly over oats started off as U S overnight oats which i added chopped hazelnuts and a banana but since discovered i can wait for just one hour but the oats do not soak up the milk as well. I am now thinking along the lines of vegan cookery. I hardly wear make up nowadays but it could be something nice in the future. Thank you for the video.

Pity that fair skin gals like me can't use this banana powder. Can you recommend a powder to set the undereye area for pale gals? I'm almost 40 so I have to be careful of avoiding too much powder too. 😊

why thank you for subscribing! I use a slightly damp sponge to add the powder with. Not super wet tho! And yes you could absolutely just use the powder over foundation - BUT - it will make a more noticeable difference in brighter under eyes if you have a concealer that is a tad lighter on. LA Girl is SO good for the price point.

How do I prevent creasing under the eye. Because of my job, I have to use makeup at times. I have a few wrinkles and my makeup creases bad under the eye. I have tried various types of makeup, baking, setting spray.

A little bit of creasing is natural bc our faces are mobile and anything creamy is going to shift a bit into the wrinkles! But I’d suggest to mix a tad of eyelid primer (colorless) with whichever concealer you’re using, then apply in a thin layer under the eye w a concealer brush then immediately set with a loose powder. Hope this helps!

I would suggest trying the Fenty retouch powder in color "butter" which is a matte finish and is good if your skin goes light to medium. as the true banana powder is too yellow for us UNLESS you cut it with a more translucent shade of powder - which works too! Hello! If your skin tends to be a bit on the lighter side, I think you would benefit from the banana powder for its brightening properties for darker areas of the face (typically around the nose, under eyes, under chin) but by mixing it with a small amount of translucent powder then use it in those areas. I used my sponges dry for this video although slightly damp is also an option - kinda have to try both ways to see which works best with your skin type.

hello! I use the banana powder sparingly only where I want "brightening" which is typically around the undereyes and sometimes the mouth and chin. It's not typically used to set makeup all over the face. So if you do like setting your makeup overall with the fenty, then I'd 1st brighten up those areas you want to with the yellow banana powder, THEN add your fenty on top, but in very light layers! I hope this makes sense ;)

I use the no color powder to cut the yellow of the banana powder but to still get the brightening effect of the yellow.
