@Labadamier3 жыл бұрын
In order to have depth, you've gotta be able to pay guys. 25% of the teams salary cap is tied up with 2 players. Ovi has a cap hit 3million less the McDavid., which means the team has 3 million more to throw towards depth. That's just how things go, and Edmonton will continue giving out contracts without managing their salary cap thanks to our boy Ken Holland who did that with Detroit throughout the entire salary cap era. I get that these are some of the best players in the sport, but managers who create cup winning teams find a way to shave off some cash from the top and filter it into the bottom. I think Edmonton's only hope is to find some depth that's willing to take a pay cut to play alongside McDavid. I don't have faith in Holland leveraging that though...
@steve88033 жыл бұрын
@@Labadamier McDavid is easily worth 3 mil more than Ovi at this point. That's not the Oilers problem. Yes Malkin and Kessel had some moments. But Malkin wasn’t captain. Watch things go wrong for the Pens, Sid goes and sits alone at the end of the bench, he doesn’t get emotional with his team. It’s great that Mcdavid cares but at some point it’s time to make your team better.

Draisaitl & Mc. David reminds me of Gretzky & Kurri. The team figures they can win game with just these players? Not a chance. I mean for instance the team thinks their sitting comfortably with a 2 goal lead. All of the sudden. The opponents ties the game. Now the Oilers are panicking. Till you know. They lose a crucial game. They can play their hearts out. In the end Oilers sucks. Talk about frustrations.

When you play with the intensity of a McDavid or Crosby or Ovi, etc., you’re going to have giveaways. They try to do things that other players can’t even imagine and it doesn’t always work, but you hope they keep trying because that’s what makes them awesome. If a Vlad Guerrero was to hit dinky singles to right field with a .400 average we wouldn’t be happy because we want 475 foot home runs and screw the average.

Just some context. It's a back-to-back after a tough OT loss, so that they went 0-3. The night before they had a complete defensive meltdown. So, all they are doing is communicating. This is the first period of what would be a six period game. McD and Pulju (and RNH, Leon) probably make different reads, also not on the best of sleeps, riding adrenaline. This level of annoyance and communication is just a sign of the right compete level, against a team in WPG with more depth up the middle, better goaltending, and a healthy Wheeler and Ehlers having a career year. Also note Pulju only started playing with 97/29 down the stretch. Barking makes complete sense.
