I think you forgot to say that Juyo was the prefered form used by Darth Sidious, he is even a master of all seven forms and he still prefered Juyo, that says a lot about how deadly Juyo is in the hands of a true lightsaber master. I still think Mace Windu perfected the form, and Vaapad is the greatest peak of a lightsaber fighting style, that is why it is the most dificult of all lighsaber forms, and it is not just a lightsaber fighting style but also a state of mind within yourself and the force, not just the light side, but also the dark side.

Well it’s not that he preferred Juyo over the other forms. It’s just that, the only way to practice Juyo, is to be at least an adept at all other forms, it’s simply a better form. That’s like saying Mace was a master of all forms but chose vapaad, no, Juyo/Vapaad are just that, powerful of forms that are meant to be practiced after you practiced every other form.

omund omund You are still trapped in the illusion of duality. Juyo is the most advanced style in combat. But still it cannot go beyond the dualistic conflict. However the highest form of fighting is not fighting at all. Our definitions of a fight is different. If you view it as a struggle to defeat the opponent, Juyo is the most advanced. But always remember, the highest form of combat can be found in emptiness.

Greetings! Love your videos! Interesting reflections on this subject! Regarding Niman and his primary disciplines, unofrtunately it is way too easy to just pinpoint Niman as a significant attribute for any force user, because any one of them, who have either: - neglected saber studies to pursude diplomacy (not in this case) - focused on force combative abilites - or just studied ways to fight tricky and dirty with a lightsaber all could just be instantly called Niman users. I think I read it somewhere that Atris was rather heavily involved in Shii-Cho. Perhaps I just heard it from one of you youtube Council people. A Shii-Cho mindset could also explain her blind devotion to her own instinctive view on life, and the Exile. She was in fact quite driven by instinct/force, instead of constantly meditating on appearing subjects. Regarding Vindican, when one views an individual to have a defensive component, shouldn't the first guess be an added Soresu aspect rather than a Shien one? We are not talking about quick retaliations after all, and I quite don't remember Vindican portraying any of those, nor unorthodox grips. His moves did not remind me of Starkiller nor Ahsoka at all, though he resembles AOTC Anakin slightly. Though Kota doesn't actually look Juyo-ish either. Nevertheless I never meant to say Juyo has zero defense, just too frequent bold attacks leave less attention and care to defending the practitioner. I don't even suspect Soresu either. Well beside the fact that normally Juyo is not the first nor the second style a saber wielder learns. Both Soresu and Shien could have been candidates. He probably knows a little bit about Djem-So too (because something must have directed Malgus towards that). I do trust in your experience and judgement, though. Perhaps you could find things out?

Both are completely focused on offense, are based around totally overwhelming one's opponent through speed more than strength, both commit to their attacks fully, both apply acrobatics, though form 4 did use them far more often. Juyo users immersed themselves in the Force to enhance their abilities at the cost of defence. So theoretically, could a Juyo user be defeated with a few well-placed Force abilities by a Niman user?
@brenntantor16348 жыл бұрын
Circumstantially yes.
@piercewise22328 жыл бұрын
Most definitely.
@brenntantor16348 жыл бұрын
Depends on which (unofficially distinct) variation of Niman. > "force user" (Jerec, Darth Nihilus, Darth Traya, Volfe Karkko) > and "melee trickster" (Kao-Cen Darach, Darth Krayt, Kazdan Paratus, Starkiller, Exar Kun, Revan ) Also it is not only Niman that can pose a significant threat. Makashi, Ataru, and Djem-So all may have better offensive moves than the defensive capabilities of Juyo. Likewise the swift counterattacks of Shien. And if a Juyo practitioner's opponents are many together, he can fall victim to them even if they showcase comparably less effective styles. For example 10 angry clones of Kit Fisto could probably defeat Emperor Palpatine. These are all matters of circumstances though.
@piercewise22328 жыл бұрын
I do not believe ataru would do well against Juyo. Not looking at the fight between palpatine and yoda bcuz of their circumstances making the fight complicated, juyo's speed and Ataru's are quite similar tho with Juyo using superior strength along with speed. Thing is Ataru's speed doesn't come from just blitzing opponents but also exposing their enemies flank,tho Ataru has really no defensive application and wouldn't be able to effectively counter attack Juyo's assault. Djem so would do well against Juyo as they can muscle up a counter offensive and a master can counter with every strike that is blocked. Makashi can be argued,its lack of kinetic defense could pose a problem against Juyo's offensive but if they cant avoid the stabs and lunges of makashi then yea its a good counter. That is definitely up for debate
@brenntantor16348 жыл бұрын
I said "may have" not definitely. Juyo has a noticable lack of defense sometimes. Ataru (normally) is the epitome of acrobatically flanking or attacking a weak/unprotected spot. It adds up. But Ataru adds his own defensive discipline to the whole scale of fencing, and that is acrobating evasion, thus it does have a defensive application. Possibly lacking counter attacking options, but just because it is set on initiating attacks, or attacking in the first place. Also Ataru does not lack strength, it's aspect of force assistend physical augmentation is partially aimed at physical strength too, also in special user hands it can specifically be catered to dishing out more powerful blows. Imagine a fight between Lord Vindican and Qui-Gon Jinn! Vindican wouldn't use force lightning close and personal, because that is against the sporty-nature of Juyo. So we get two quite fast duelists, no dirty tricks, and skill is the only determining factor! Vindican showcasing Juyo, pureblood physiology, and sustainability, war experience, at least a passing knowledge of Djem-So, but not as skilled as Darth Maul and lacking both in defense and offensive resolve. Qui-Gon representing Ataru, kinetic strikes, expert in force assisted physical augmentation, trained by a Makashi master and sparring with the greatest swordsmen of his time, but alone and Obi-Wan not by his side. Juyo a style normally being more driven than tactical, and Qui-Gon being an individual who is driven during duels rather than conscious. Both wear light armor. Both have a good chance to win against the other. A battle of the instincs. Qui-Gon Jinn vs Lord Vindican - The Battle of the Instincts!

@justinwallace2694 жыл бұрын
Have you ever considered making style comparison videos? Like if two equally skilled and force sensitive fighters went head to head using these styles, how would they stack up against each other? I’d actually be really curious about a comparison between forms 7 and 1, since they’re both known for their erratic and unpredictable methods. They seem to have similar ideologies in terms of releasing one’s self into the force and have been described as going close to the edge, increasing speed, strength, and unpredictability, but what’s the real difference between them and how do they stack up against each other? Juyo ditches defence for wide, powerful attacks, whereas Shii Cho maintains an impressive level of force assisted defence while also maintaining an erratic offence. Vaapad channels the intensity of the enemy into itself for endless power, but as we’ve seen with the Sidious fight, that lead to an impasse. We know that Shii Cho has been known for being less effective against single targets, and more designed for gaggles of ordinary (non force user) targets, but can this change with sufficient sparring and duelling experience? Juyo is known for shitty defence and animal ferocity, yet Maul was focused and defensively viable due to Niman. It’s a real can of worms, but an interesting challenge.

@@foreignroninl1555 Soresu and Niman. Soresu is vital just so I'd have knowledge of defense, even though I'm more liable to be more on the offensive with Juyo. Niman means I can possibly incorporate Force powers into my fighting style. This helps with Juyo's already unpredictable nature, seemingly random force attacks that flow together with lightsaber combat. Force pushes and pulls, however slight in order to unbalance my opponent, create an opening and strike a decisive blow.
@foreignroninl15553 жыл бұрын
@@retcon2536 Okay. The impression I'm getting from your choice of lightsaber forms and the manner you would use them is a style somewhat analogous to that of Darth Bane's: a power-based offensive form that uses defensive maneuvers and techniques only when needed. However, there are some things that differentiate your style from Bane's. First of all is that you seem to favor a more proactive use of Juyo whereas Bane primarily used only Djem So as his offensive base, with Juyo being more of a fallback option if the techniques of Form V failed to warrant the results he desired. In your case, the decision to utilize both Juyo and Djem So as the basis of your offense would allow the two forms to feed into one another; Djem So would add more power behind the chaotic attack patterns of Juyo, while the staccato attack sequences of Juyo would make it harder for some opponents to avoid your power attacks. Second is your decision to additionally incorporate Niman into your chosen styles. While this form would indeed aid in the incorporation of force attacks to catch your opponent off guard, I also see it as a means of making your bladework a bit more versatile if you're willing take up a more dedicated study of the form in addition to your chosen styles of Djem So and Juyo. As the Jack of all trades style, Niman's strength lies in both its versatlity, and the user's own ability to creatively adapt and counter their opponent's style. If my assumption is correct on how you would apply Djem So and Juyo, I can see an advance level study of Niman as a means of being able to apply your chaotic power-based style more creatively, such as using close range force attacks to stagger opponents or mixing up your bladework. Concerning your defense, I imagine that you'd prefer the more stone wall approach of tanking your opponent's attacks before retaliating with attacks of your own, with occasional uses of Shien to take care of blaster wielding opponents. Then again, this is all just an assessment based on the information you presented in your past two comments so feel free to clarify on some points since I'm always interested to learn more about a person's chosen fighting style.

Emotions and passion are just some of the tools that an individual can employ in their skillset, but it seems like many darksiders' application of turning Form 7 into an overaggressive frenzy really diminishes on the technical aspect. Just as how jensaarai called Form 6 the "Trickter's Form," I believe Form 7 can be dubbed the "Personalization Form."
@brenntantor16347 жыл бұрын
But personalization as an encouragement is not exclusive to Juyo, thus you need a better nickname.
@ctv1867 жыл бұрын
I was just following the nickname given to Niman (Trickster) in its video and came up with something of my own. I imagine you can be a trickster with other styles too.

Jar Kai is a variant of form V dual wielding style... Diem So is the variation of form V created for duelling And Shien was the variation created for blaster-wielding opponents. Makashi is a duelling style.... Niman is a blend of the first five forms and heavy focus on Force Power and duel-wielding.

Light whip + Juyo....Totally unpredictable?
@khdean1215 жыл бұрын
The whips unwieldy attack patterns go against Juyo's quick and unpredictable strikes but even Juyo is highly precise on those swings or you leave yourself open too easily. The Duel of Fates is a perfect example.

Why is anakin not juyo instead form 5 since he actually uses the dark side?? Answer thanks
@filipstellberg82808 жыл бұрын
Anakin was denied to be taught Form VII by Cin Drallig because it led too close to the Dark Side, and Anakin was too close already. Quinlan Vos was also heavily discouraged to continue using it for the same reason.
@LikeABoss12118 жыл бұрын
Filip Stellberg ohh yea I forgot 😩 but I'm talking about more on a fan view. Because it seems like video makers seem to call him form 5 by how he fights, but I think he's more of a juyo/ form 5 defender because he has good blade work as well when deflecting blasts or other sabers.
@aidankeogh99948 жыл бұрын
Anakin's skill at blast deflection and defense against lightsaber attacks stem from his mastery of Form 5's two variants. At the beginning of the Clone Wars, Anakin was a Shien specialist, a style that was all about aimed blast deflection. By the end of the Clone Wars, thanks to encounters with those such as Asajj Ventress and Count Dooku, Anakin expanded and retooled his fighting style to accommodate for his frequent lightsaber duels and to make better use of his new cybernetic hand. He mastered Djem So by the time of Revenge of The Sith, which was a style of Form 5 specifically for lightsaber duels that was developed from Soresu. Djem So was all about staunch defense, followed up by immediate counter blows with crushing strength- perfect for Anakin's incredible strength further augmented by his cybernetic hand. Anakin, unless he got his emotions under control, wouldn't even be a very good Juyo practitioner- and would have no success with Vaapad.

To be specific, I believe I could memorize the relevant stances and techniques, but would be unable to summon up the necessary physical strength and aggressive mindset.

I would study Soresu as my main dueling preference. Strong defense to outlast my opponent. When they are tired and aggravated I would use the finesse of Makashi to end the fight. I also have an interest in Ataru and Djem So.

a juyo master vs an ataru master who would probly win?
@direraven77358 жыл бұрын
demonsean It depends. Ataru can rush down Juyo, but the opposite can occur. It hinges on the ataru practitioner to physically outpace and evade vs the juyo practitioner to apply their mastery over prier forms to dismantle the former. It would be a violent affair overall.
@joelancon72317 жыл бұрын
to give you an elaborate answer (see what i did there) the two forms are confirmed to compliment eachother and have no real advantages on eachother when watchin an ataru master vs a juyo master they would hammer at eachother until one gave klout weather it be for speed or skill
@direraven77357 жыл бұрын
Cajun Bounty Hunter That's pretty much what it comes down to. It's hard to say which is better sense their is no obvious advantage/disadvantage between the two.
@professionalmemeenthusiast21176 жыл бұрын
I'd argue for Ataru because Juyo is physically exhausting and Ataru is focused on dodging instead of blocking, so the Juyo user will expend a lot of energy striking at empty air as the Ataru user jumps out of the way.
@tonywright99066 жыл бұрын
Juyo Master.To be more specific, it does come down to advantages/disadvantages between the two. Who is more skilled at compensating the weaknesses is key.Juyo uses acrobatics as well as speed. A lack of open space doesn't restrict Juyo neither does fatigue. Juyo is more in control,Not all its practitioners were blind furied berserkers as they want us to believe.Those practitioners allowed Juyo to master them.Therefore which were not true Juyo Masters. Ataru does have its strong points as well,you can compensate any weakness of any style if you were dedicated to it. Between to true masters of the forms in open space impasse. Lack of open space,Juyo all day.

I would use shien/djem so as a base. I would of course learn every form, being able to correct its lack of footwork and mobility with forms like makashi and form 4. I would study form 6 to add in force abilities and form 3 simply to learn its holes and how to defeat a passive duelist. But I would also be a master in juyo. I personally believe forms 2,4, and 5 would very much round out juyo. Form 8 with a lil cheeky blade turn off🤷🏾♂️😭

@AkosKovacs.Author.Musician8 жыл бұрын
one strange thing I observed that many juyo practitioners are vulnerable to quick force counters as mentioned in the video,yet it seems to me that form 1 users are more resistant even though both releases themself to the force. like lucien draay who had a pretty strog TK def.Odd.
@cebenify8 жыл бұрын
That's because juyo was likely a sith style while shii-cho was exclusively made by the jedi. Sith release themselves far more than high-level shii-cho practitioners ever do, leaving them far more open to counterattack.

Jensarii1: what is your opinion on the best arts to study under form 7
@piercewise22328 жыл бұрын
Djem So and Ataru could be a good basis for the form.
@brenntantor16348 жыл бұрын
Juyo is usually built up by knowing A LOT of other forms beforehand. If you want to be a really good, and traditionally offensive Juyo specialist, previous heavy experience primarily in the following forms sounds logical: I. Shii-Cho - visceral attacks, "force conduit" mindset/technique II. Makashi - tactics and precise subtle approaches IV. Ataru - force-acrobatic expertise and extreme angles V. Djem-So - decisive attacks where needed Of course you may add more. For example Juyo does not lack in offensive intention, but needs help in defensive technique. This fact may urge a different approach: II. Makashi - economy of motion and tactics III. Soresu - total defensive state IV. Ataru - acrobatic evasion V. Shien - immediate blocks and directed swift counterattacks
@piercewise22328 жыл бұрын
Shien wasn't really applied like that in lightsaber combat. That was Djem So. Btw while makashi isn't bad one studying Juyo should lean more towards forms 1,4 and 5

If you read deeper into the Sith Handbook, or Book of Sith as it’s called, the counterpart to the Jedi Path - Form 5 was definitely the most physically demanding... Just read how Darth Bane explains “Strong style and fast style”..... Strong style being the most physically grueling and aggressive form of all.
