That truck is totally something my grandfather would have built. He bought a Ford F250 new in 1967 and made all kinds of modifications to it, all completely home-grown. Two of note were the water injection system for the carb (similar to WWII aircraft) and and a 'supplemental' cooling system for the radiator, which consisted of a 5 gallion (~20L) water bucket in the truck bed that fed a sprinkler head mounted to hit the center of the radiator at 50mph. It kept engine/trans temps down pulling the 20 foot travel trailer up the mountain passes and forest service roads of Idaho and Montana.

To get rid of alcohol in fuel, add water. I use those translucent jerry cans with tap/spout. You bung in 200mls/litre shake well, leave 24hrs, the water will pull the alcohol out of the fuel, leaving alcohol free petrol floating on top , you will see 2 layers form when it settles overnight. I do this for my classic motorbikes

At the Birmingham NEC Classic car show, maybe 10 years ago, at the height of wheeler dealers TV career. Mike brewer was on stage waffling about something or other but he kept saying ”lam rowva" so I threw a half eaten apple at him. I'm a terrible shot so I hit one of his posters but I hope the sentiment was felt.

Your willingness to work in tight spaces never ceases to amaze me. Anyone else would have had at least the front of that vehicle jacked up, if only to avoid having to slither under it. After all, it's not like it's presenting the same space limitations as a tank.

It's so awesome. My guess is it was used for some exploring around the world. Central lock for the doors via pneumatics. An all-wheel drive system. All the spare parts in the back. The modified switch to open up the hood... it's to protect the car and/or vital parts of it from getting stolen - and who ever modified this vehicle never wanted a power steering because it would have been another system on the car that could fail whenever the car and his owner were out in the wild on their own. I love this weird beast. Seems and sounds like a car built by an adventurer. Just great

Hi, In the 1980's in Daventry I heard of either Prince Philip or Charles, I forget which, on a local estate for a days shoot, lunch was held in a pub on the estate lands. A lad was given the job of turning all the Land Rovers round while they were eating, he nearly put the prince's one through a hedge as it had a V8 petrol engine opposed to al the others with diesel ones, and he was not expecting it! The one your playing with now reminded me of the tale. I enjoy your vids , thanks for putting them out.
