Being trained or programed for combat can be enough to cause PTSD, Every drill a soldier practice is incoded inside their brains and they often became reflexes. just like a machine.

I know that type of pain of PTSD that Bastion showed. I can litteraly go from chill to very violent in a heartbeat, because of my PTSD myself. I've had mine for over two decades and most of the time when a bigger guy is threatening me or it feels like it, it drags me to what happened to me when I was 7. Plus I so study things like that in my spare time. The biggest injustice that people do to each other on a psychological level is trying to cookie cut the condition in so many different ways PTSD is an incredibly difficult condition to narrow down and more so to treat.

Only discovered your channel a few days ago but I had the same reaction to this video. The crazy thing about this short is that the entire theme revolves around overcoming a horrific past and learning to change for the better. Bastion clearly has PTSD, and the relationship he forms with the bird is destroyed because of it. He didn't mean to destroy it, it was just his nature because of who he was. The bird is the real hero in all of this as it acts as a support system for Bastion in his crisis. The bird is consistently getting him to move on and away from his past. Building a nest on him as a form of welcoming a new life. Anyways, keep up the great work Jen. Hopefully I see you in Azeroth soon.

I also like the "over watch" robot character Bastion. His flash back is too the same effect veterans get from the horrors of war, or post traumatic syndrome. The mind can block it out, but during any stressful situation it comes back like a awaking too a real nightmare. Bastion is lucky, he is only a machine.
