Hi Jen! Just wanted to throw a rec right back at you to save you looking at US and Aussie publishers 😊 A lovely story boardbook from a bit closer to home - Where are you, Pufffling? by Erika McGann and Gerry Daly. There's a series of them in regular picturebook format, but the first is also available in boardbook, and a big hitter in the Irish market! (also, not as asked for, but nevertheless, think you'd love some of the Paddy Donnelly picturebooks!)

Wow! That was remarkable. Took so many notes. TY. This isn't a gift conundrum but I am looking for a book that tells the story of a late in life passion project alongside a family drama. Think Zelda Fitzgerald taking up ballet while trying to be a wife and mother. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Another brilliant nature series is anything by Robert Macfarlane--he has a new one out about rivers which I'm very excited about.

Some of the books you have for your daughter I read to my sons ( they are 50 & 54 ) and now they are reading to their children & I expect a next generation might hear them one day. I recommend Spookie Pookie and other Pookie books. Also, Llama, Llama red pajamas and other Llama, Llama books. Also If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. And others in the series. I live in the Pacific Northwest in USA. These may be difficult to find in the UK. Happy reading and snuggle time with your daughter.

Thank you so much. I’m reading “ A Woman in the Polar Night now. I have an orthopedic disability and usually avoid books like this because some of them have an air of self-congratulation. Petty of me, perhaps, but there you have it. But the elements of this-the people involved, the weather, the endless seal meals -really keep me reading.

Loved the peak at your daughter’s 12 days of Christmas books. I’m a former teacher and obsessed with Children’s Literature and obviously have passed the passion on to my own little ones. As a heads up the Everywhere Babies book does have the refrain “Everywhere babies as everyone knows have ten little fingers and ten little toes” which is obviously untrue. It’s a cute book but wanted to give the heads up. Our family unwraps books each day of December until Christmas like an advent calendar with our Christmas picture books. I often will wrap several books for one day into a single package (often around a theme). Most of them are books we already own and then I usually add a few new. This year I added How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney? by Mac Barnett and a picture book version of A Christmas Carol adapted by Adam McKeown. Then they’ll get gifted another one each on Christmas Day.

Really? Are you confusing that with the book ‘Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes’? If it’s in Everywhere Babies, too, I am going to be so annoyed 🫣 x

I’ve just looked at a video of Everywhere Babies and that text isn’t in it, thankfully. I think you’re thinking of the Mem Fox book (which I absolutely detest, of course), but thank you for the warning! ♥️ x

Hi Jen, Thanks for the fantastic video! Do you have any recommendations for someone who has allergies as a health problem? I have quite severe sun allergy and need this seriously investigating by doctors, and I’d love to read a book I can relate to (apart from vampire books, 🧛♀️🧛🏻 of course!). Please bear this condition in mind for any future recommendations possibly. Have a lovely Christmas.🎄🧣

And also books about being speechless/mute, I don’t mind either term as someone who experiences this involuntarily due to babyhood brain damage, but I’ve heard others have issues with the word mute. Thanks! Have a good 2025.

And books about racism are something I think would be good to be focused on by people working in the book industry. Some of us have experienced discrimination based on skin colour and it would benefit us all to have more awareness about this. We humans are all just various shades of clay colours.🏺I’m planning on reading all your books too, Jen. Your gift with words is just beautiful. 🌟
