@@JerBearReacts The first ep is a little confusing because of the timing; maybe that's why. First, it starts in one timeline (around the scene at the end of this tribute), then fast-forwards 16 years. Then a few episodes later, the story goes back in time before the first episode’s events. I feel like it will be like The Witcher: you have to watch the series twice for events to make sense. Other than that, ep 1 wasn’t so bad, just confusing. Then again, so was ep 1 of The Witcher.

50 eps felt very few, I needed more but the end is that. there are no more seasons. it's the whole story of the book. I really think the untamed is one of the best series I have ever seen.

I would highly recommend watching the show. The 1st two episodes cause people to be confused if they haven't read the novel, but it's also very confusing for a reason at 1st. The story is detailed, complex, and captivating. The main cast are all amazing at taking on the roles of their characters. It's a rollercoaster of emotions in the series and very dark. I have yet to see even one person who reacted to the show who didn't absolutely love it. The movies are good as well (but absolutely can't watch them until after watching the main show).

The 'X' is pronounced mostly like 'Sh'. So when you say his full name (Wei Wuxian), it sounds somewhat like 'WAY WOO-SHYAN'. I won't get into cultural things like given name vs family name vs courtesy name vs titles/epithets. It's a semi-complicated thing that I have no authority to speak on so I'mma stay in my lane. Just know that if you do watch this show on Netflix, you may end up hearing or seeing people with multiple names and titles, depending on how the subs are translated. Also, C-Dramas (most Asian dramas, actually) typically only have 1 season in which a complete story is told. Every now and then they may get a show that is adapted into 2-3 seasons but that's very rare. Multiple seasons is most common in procedural shows like crime or medical dramas, or occasionally if the source material of an adaptation is very long. Typically if it does happen, the season ep counts are shorter or the later seasons are more of a spiritual successor to the first season than a direct continuation of the S1 story.

The Untamed has 9 billion views last I saw about a year ago. It is a remarkable series, particularly considering its low budget. It is the best Chinese drama I’ve seen hands down. There is an animated version as well that people also make music videos for. For example you could check out the video I see fire for the show “The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation” or “Mo Dao Zu Shi”. The magic and zombies in the animated version look better than the live action, but the live action will make you laugh and cry. MUCH more emotional impact in the live version. Both live and animated versions are excellent. The animated version is closer to the book.

I highly recommend the show. It has been watched over 10 billion time (with a B) in china alone. The story is an emotional roller coaster that is a strangely addicting mix between a detective show, crouching tiger hidden dragon style action adventure, some game of thrones style family drama, buddy movie comedy, with a big dash of the walking dead . Oh and a few Ray Harryhausen style monsters thrown in for good measure. Its the first show that as soon as I finished the last episode, i immediately wished I could erase my brain so I could see it again for the first time. The sets are beautiful, the cinematography varies from ordinary to drop dead stunning, and the music is outstanding. There is also an animated version with much better looking magic and which follows the book much more closely called The Grand Master of Demonic Cultivation. Though instead of all the black smoke in the live action they used all the zombies from the book.

It’s EXTREMELY easy to fall into the “maybe just one more episode” trap because episodes end not when that story arc is done but when they run out of time to show you stuff. We often ended up watching episodes in pairs or mini binges of three or four episodes

You should definitely watch this show, it's a wonderfully designed story and lots of fun. There is great action, lots of humor, a great main couple, and fantastic well rounded characters and conflict. 50 episodes might seem intimidating, but the story is really compelling and fast paced so its very enjoyable. As other commenters have said, its may be a little confusing in the beginning as the first three episodes start mid way through the timeline and throw of names and plot at you, but it quickly goes back to the beginning of the story and everything is explained well not to mention it gives lots of mystery as you want to know how everything spiraled to where they are in the future.

If you ever watch this drama: First ep is kinda confusing because it goes into a flashback in EP 2. It goes back into present at ep 33. I watched some of the first episode and gave up (year ago). And now i regret it. I rewatched this drama 3 times under a month!! I give it 100/10. Highly recommended. And don't worry if you can't remember names.

Wei Wuxian (Pronounced "Way Woo-shee-en") is a hell of a character. As a teen, he was considered one of the most promising cultivators in all sects, not just the one that raised him. It's not really explained too well in the series and they don't call back to it until, I think, the very end but those deep scars on his forearm are part of a curse. He has to kill four specific people or his soul will be utterly destroyed. The problem is, the crazy person that got the curse on him didn't specify who he wanted dead, so Wei had to guess the first three and then spent the rest of the series figuring out who the last one was. I know it's vague, but I tried not to spoil too much because I recommend you watch the series. The story it's from was so amazing that they did a live action series, a Chinese anime series, AND a Chinese manga. You can catch it on Netflix or, possibly, here on YT. I think I saw it on one of the Chinese television channels.

The Untamed is a GREAT show. It's a fantasy epic with great characters. It's based on a book and they pretty much adapted the entire book. It is well worth watching. Might take a few episodes to get into the pacing because it is almost like a 50 hour film that just continues each ep but man are there some excellent moments. I highly highly recommend.

I wish SUNDAYS could be SITCOM DAY so you could react to SANTA CLARITA DIET (zombie alert!), a really awesome brilliant show with ONLY 30 episodes (20min long) so you can finish it pretty fast! Joel & Sheila's relationship is AWESOME to watch, just love them so much! Drew Barrymore is such an amazing actress & we get the sexy TImothy Olyphant with his awkward smile in the perfect/worst situations... The beginning is a bit slow so please give it a chance, a few episodes and you will be hooked! Also WRECKED (Lost "parody") with 30ep/20min long is freaking insane! :)

Chinese dramas are usually 50-60 episodes… also that rating was wrong lol, 10/10 series. Please check it out! Trust me you will not be disappointed. Just keep in touch with the time line because it’ll start in the present, jump back 16 years, and be back in the present. I got my sister to watch this series as well and that confused her. Oh, also they have spin offs as well that follow the Nie brothers and Yuan and Wen Ning, I think they made them into movies but could be series as well they’re just not as well known
