Production rule systems have the capability of pondering hundreds of thousands of facts and delivering patterns and decisions surrounding them at near-instantaneous rates of speed. Jeremy explains how.

Is the presenter a time traveller? He listens to his own talk @2:32

OK... at 2:22 into the camera pans the room. Look at the man with glasses sitting under the window. Is it me or does he bear an amazing resemblance to Edward Snowden?

camera man - you ruined this video by focusing on the lecturer and missed the presentation!

I don't normally hit dislike button. If I don't like something I just let it go - there might be others that can find it useful or entertaining after all. But in this case the presentation didn't to anything at all! I was interested to understand how the Rete algorithm works so fast (compared to traditional conditional evaluation), counting on the title "Rete Algorithm Rundown" ... well beside the name there's nothing else about it in the video. At the end disappointed I realized that if I didn't know what Rule engines are I wouldn't even understand what the video was about! The only thing presenter did for 11 minutes is to reiterate the same statement basically that rule engines process rules much faster than traditional condition impl. Repeating same statement w/o any arguments to prove it - that's how junk products are normally advertised (basically scam imo). Rules engine however are not supposed to be a scam, so it seems one should look for explanations elsewhere!

Did toy ever find a proper explanation for how rete alogorithm works and why it is fast and better than traiditional conditional evaluation??
